Chapter 17: He didn’t wait any longer, just tonight
Since the foot and back injuries, Fu Xingran has been appearing by his side more frequently. Besides being at school, now, he can see this guy whenever he returns home from work.
Not only that, but Fu Xingran also always manages to create some unexpected surprises for him.
Sending books, sending perfume, sending various things. Just like when they discussed how to give gifts to someone they like, Fu Xingran faithfully delivers what they discussed to him.
But why is Fu Xingran giving these to him instead of the person Fu Xingran claims to like?
The more he thinks about it…
Something’s not right.
The more he thinks, the more afraid he is to delve deeper, and his thoughts come to an abrupt halt.
Until this morning, when he opened the door and saw another gift bag placed at the entrance, containing a bottle of perfume named “927.” Looking at the door number 1204, he held the bottle of “927” in his hand and fell into deep thought once again.
This month, he has received a total of three bottles of perfume, namely “922,” “115,” and now “927.” Fu Xingran explained that 922 was the day he first met the person he likes. But what does 0115 and now 927 mean?
If 0115 were his own birthday, he would have thought of it immediately. However, the perfume named “0115” is from Fu Xingran’s hands. So, for Fu Xingran, what significance does 0115 hold?
Fu Xingran mentioned that “922” was the day of his first encounter with the person he likes, and 0115 is his birthday. So, what about 927…
What does it mean?
However, that’s not the main point; it’s why Fu Xingran has been constantly giving him gifts during this period. Shouldn’t these be gifts for the person Fu Xingran is pursuing?
It can’t be the person Fu Xingran mentioned…
Can it?
Su Lixu silently stared at the bottle of perfume in his hand, as if it were a hot potato, and he placed it on the shoe cabinet.
Not necessarily, don’t overthink it.
There is an age gap between him and Fu Xingran, maybe Fu Xingran’s way of expressing himself is different from what he thinks.
Clearing his thoughts, he closed the door and walked towards the parking lot.
The parking lot was dimly lit. He took out the car keys, unlocked the car, and just as he walked to his car, he saw the Lamborghini across from him light up its headlights. Soon after, the familiar Lamborghini drove out and stopped in front of his car.
With the dim light in the parking lot, the driver’s window slowly lowered as a familiar face emerged. The light outlined a handsome profile, and the young man behind the steering wheel held the wheel with one hand.
It was Fu Xingran.
Fu Xingran leaned his arm on the window, looking at Su Lixu outside, waving at him with a brilliantly radiant smile. “Good morning, Brother. Did you receive my perfume?”
Su Lixu: “…” It’s like he says things and they magically happen.
It’s this openness and directness that makes Su Lixu find it unbelievable.
Does this guy know what he’s doing?
Then he saw Fu Xingran open the door and get out of the car.
Today, Fu Xingran was wearing that black baseball jacket again. His tall stature filled out the garment, and the youthful extravagance was like the floral English letters on the baseball jacket. As he approached, accompanied by a subtly oppressive atmosphere, the fragrance of August night osmanthus perfume wafted around him.
It was his favorite perfume.
Subconsciously, Su Lixu leaned against the car door, his hand silently tightening.
Fu Xingran walked up to Su Lixu. “Today, the perfume I’m giving you is ‘927.’ Did you see it?”
Perhaps the distance was a bit too close; Su Lixu slightly shifted his body, creating some space, and held onto the car door, using it for support. “Why are you giving me something again?”
In the dimly lit parking lot, there was an unspoken tension between the two.
Fu Xingran’s gaze fell on Su Lixu’s white sweater today, matching the color of his own clothes. It really looked like a couple’s outfit. He laughed deeper when he heard Su Lixu’s question:
“Didn’t you teach me, big brother?”
Listening to this ambiguous response, Su Lixu met Fu Xingran’s smile. For some reason, he always felt like this guy was teasing him. “That’s true, but aren’t you supposed to give it to someone you like?”
“I did.” Fu Xingran caught Su Lixu’s frowning.
“If you’ve already given it to him, why give it to me?” Su Lixu asked in confusion.
At that moment, Fu Xingran suddenly raised his hand and gently touched his eyebrows and eyes.
“Don’t frown; I don’t like it when you frown.” He spoke while gently stroking, as if trying to smooth out the wrinkles.
Su Lixu grabbed Fu Xingran’s hand. This hand had been restless lately, and he took a deep breath. “Why give it to me when you’ve already given it to him?”
Pushing away this hand while speaking, he felt like he would go crazy if he didn’t clarify.
Even though he had mentioned having someone he liked and set boundaries, why cross them?
“I just wanted to give it to you.” Fu Xingran lowered his eyes and glanced at the hand that was pushed away. Unlike the previous bright smile, there was a moment of indescribable sadness in the slight narrowing of his eyebrows and eyes. “But it seems like you don’t like it, big brother.”
Su Lixu sensitively caught Fu Xingran’s emotional shift and suddenly realized that he might be over interpreting. He slightly suppressed the anxiety in his heart.
“I didn’t say I don’t like it; I just don’t understand why you want to give it to me.” Su Lixu softened his tone as much as possible and asked, “So, you’ve already given these gifts to the person you like, right?”
He might not be able to distinguish with normal emotional logic yet, but he had to find an opportunity to clarify.
Not today, maybe tomorrow.
Fuxing stared at Su Lixu. “Yes, I gave them to him.”
“Did he accept them?”
“He did.”
Su Lixu suddenly breathed a sigh of relief, though he didn’t know why he felt relieved. “That’s good. If he accepted your gift, it means he likes you too.”
“Really?” Fu Xingran raised an eyebrow. “Accepting means he likes me?”
“If you’ve expressed your feelings to him, and he accepted your gift, it means he’s willing to accept your feelings.”
Fu Xingran smiled. “I’ve told him, so he must like me too.”
Su Lixu sensed Fu Xingran’s gaze on his face, discreetly turning away and coughing. “Um, Xingran, I think you might need to distinguish between how you treat someone you like and how you treat friends. Are you sure you’ve made that distinction?”
He wasn’t oblivious, but Fu Xingran’s increasing proximity in recent times made him hard to grasp. Wasn’t Fu Xingran pursuing someone he liked?
“I can distinguish, very clearly.”
Su Lixu gave him a skeptical glance, partly believing him. Seeing Fu Xingran’s serious expression, he could only suppress his doubts. “Alright then.”
In front of the car, Fu Xingran smiled even more brightly.
“So, big brother, are you free tonight? I want to treat you to dinner.”
“Why suddenly invite me to dinner?” Su Lixu wondered, just having sighed in relief.
“Well, because today is my birthday.” Fu Xingran looked at Su Lixu expectantly. “Can big brother celebrate my birthday with me?”
Su Lixu was momentarily surprised. Was it Fu Xingran’s birthday today? He checked his phone, November 21st.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know it was your birthday, and I didn’t prepare a gift for you.”
Fu Xingran deeply observed Su Lixu’s embarrassed expression, seemingly understanding. “It’s okay; big brother, you are the best gift.”
Su Lixu: “Huh?”
Fu Xingran chuckled. “I mean, just being able to have dinner with you tonight is the best gift for me. I don’t need anything else. Are you free tonight, big brother? I want to treat you to dinner.”
“Why not celebrate with him?” Su Lixu asked cautiously, wondering why someone wouldn’t spend their birthday with the person they like.
“I will,” Fu Xingran didn’t elaborate. “But tonight, I want to celebrate with you, big brother. Can I? My dad forgot my birthday, so I don’t have family with me tonight.”
Su Lixu, hearing a hint of disappointment in Fu Xingran’s voice and the mention of family, couldn’t help but be moved. “Then I’ll make you a cake tonight?”
“Is it okay? Won’t it be too much trouble for you, big brother?” Fu Xingran tried hard to control the surge in his heart, restraining his emotions on the surface.
“Sure, come to my place in the evening.” Su Lixu opened the car door, suddenly remembering something. He turned around, “By the way, you have a test on Friday afternoon. You can’t skip class again, or I won’t help you plead with the teachers anymore.”
After saying that, he got into the car. Lowering the car window, he looked at Fu Xingran outside and added, “Got it?”
Fu Xingran stood outside the car, watching Su Lixu nod obediently. “Yes, I got it. Big brother, remember to make dinner for me tonight.”
Su Lixu didn’t pay much attention to Fu Xingran’s choice of words, thinking it was about the cake. “I promise, I’ll do what I said. I’ll head to school now; see you later if there’s anything.”
As the car window slowly rolled up, the complete closure cut off the fiery gaze from outside.
Fu Xingran watched the direction the Cadillac drove away, his hand hanging by his side rubbing the hand that had touched Su Lixu moments ago, a smile filled his eyes.
Looking forward to tonight.
He wouldn’t wait any longer.
It will be tonight.
