Romantic Refutation: Chapter 44

Chapter 44: They won’t rest until the roses fade

Fu Xingran adored this man’s ability to learn. How could there be someone who completely grasped his irresistible preferences, even making him unable to restrain himself? When they weren’t together, he schemed ways to win over Su Lixu.

From coaxing to pitifully crying, from stubbornly clinging to wild fantasies, to watching Su Lixu with red eyes in that room, begging him… He tried everything, even resorting to extreme measures.

He knew he was despicable, but he couldn’t bring himself to be despicable to Su Lixu.

But after they got together… In his gentle and warm Su Lixu, he discovered other sides, and the more he delved into them, the more infatuated he became. It was as if he saw his own reflection in Su Lixu, seeing how one could become crazy in love with someone.

At this moment, when Su Lixu’s slightly tipsy demeanor exuded cold restraint, holding the brush with an indifferent expression, looking down on him, he knew he was reaching his limit.

In the studio, Su Lixu pressed Fu Xingran’s wrist with his knee. Seeing him trying to break free, Su Lixu lowered his eyes indifferently and said:

“Dare to move?”

Fu Xingran smiled, “I dare not.”

“Consider yourself lucky that you don’t dare.”

So, Su Lixu used all the tricks Fu Xingran had used on him before, using the same methods against him.

In the end, Fu Xingran restrained himself, his eyes red. “Baby, I beg you, I was wrong.”

Accompanied by the 36 terms of endearment, the brush innocently ended up under the carpet by the bed.

The roses on the bedside enjoyed the melodious sounds without reservation.

In the intoxicating late night, neither the roses nor they themselves ceased.

On the large bed in the studio, the two leaned against each other.

“Baby,” Fu Xingran massaged Su Lixu’s waist and murmured softly, seeing him close his eyes, calling out softly.

“What’s wrong?” Su Lixu lazily lifted his eyelids, his voice slightly hoarse.

Fu Xingran’s ears were tingled by the man’s satisfied voice, thinking he had woken him up, “Did I wake you up?”

He just wanted to see if Su Lixu was asleep so he could help him wipe himself down.

Su Lixu chuckled, turned in Fu Xingran’s arms, and leaned against him, “You did wake me up, but I’m still somewhat awake.”

He hadn’t drunk much anyway; the tipsy feeling had long been diluted.

“Then shall I coax you to sleep again?” Fu Xingran hugged Su Lixu from behind. “I was thinking of waiting for you to fall asleep before helping you wash up.”

“I won’t sleep. I’ll take a bath later and then sleep.” Su Lixu leaned back, feeling the warmth of the chest like a fireplace. His tone involuntarily became gentle, “With so many terms of endearment earlier, have you decided which one you want?”

“I want babe.”

Su Lixu smiled, “Not ‘husband’?”

“No.”

“Not ‘daddy’?”

“I already have a dad.”

Su Lixu chuckled, “Okay.”

“I just like the term ‘babe’.” Fu Xingran nestled his head on Su Lixu’s shoulder, coquettishly saying, “I just think it sounds especially nice. When you call me that, I feel like you’re especially doting on me.”

“Babe,” Su Lixu called out.

“Mmm, babe,” Fu Xingran responded with a smile.

“Babe,” Su Lixu laughed.

“Mhmm, I’m here, babe,” Fu Xingran hugged him tighter.

Su Lixu glanced at the clingy figure behind him, as if he had thought of something. “How did you manage to be so two-faced? Now you’re acting all sheepish with me.”

Just now, you were like a starving wolf who hadn’t eaten meat for days.

“You’re the same, babe.” Fu Xingran retorted without backing down. “I’ve noticed you can hold a grudge, still mad about what happened on my birthday?” Just now, he was teasing him like crazy, not letting him move. That kind of torment, so close yet so out of reach, he had experienced it.

“So what? If you can do it, why can’t I?” Su Lixu countered.

“Fair enough.” Hearing Su Lixu’s slightly annoyed tone, Fu Xingran felt ecstatic. He rubbed his cheek against Su Lixu’s face and said, “Babe, I feel so emotional when you look at me without expression or talk to me. When you’re not mad, please scold me more, order me around, control me. I can handle it all.”

Su Lixu: “… Are you serious? What kind of hobby is this?”

He wouldn’t behave like this if he hadn’t drunk. This kind of shamelessness required alcohol.

“Yes, it’s that tone of yours that I love.” Fu Xingran hugged Su Lixu tightly, took a deep breath, and kissed his shoulder, looking satisfied. “How can I love you so much, babe~”

Su Lixu couldn’t stand this guy’s clinginess anymore, so he pushed his head away. “I’m going to take a shower.”

Fu Xingran immediately sat up and got off the bed, with a sense of ceremony, stood by the bed, one hand on his waist, the other hand circling in the air twice, then extended a polite hand towards Su Lixu:

“Babe, I’m inviting you to bathe together. Would you accept, babe?”

Su Lixu looked at Fu Xingran’s outstretched hand, glanced at him, smiling knowingly.

Fu Xingran raised his chin, indicating “Hurry up and grab it.”

Su Lixu chuckled, reaching out his hand towards Fu Xingran, also raising his chin to signal “Hurry up and grab it.”

Fu Xingran was silent for two seconds, but he turned his palm that was facing up to face down and placed it on Su Lixu’s outstretched hand. The next second, there was a crisp sound as his hand was firmly slapped, and he grimaced in pain, covering his hand and exclaiming.

He looked at Su Lixu incredulously, his expression innocent and wronged. “Babe, why did you hit me?”

“Do you think I don’t know what you’re up to? I know you want something when you reach out your hand now.” The blanket slipped off him, and Su Lixu got out of bed from the other side and walked to the bathroom. “Don’t come in, I’ll wash up by myself.”

The cold white back with a hint of starry red reflected in his eyes. The back was covered with smooth and beautiful lines, the shoulders were not too broad, but the waist was very narrow. The two indentations around the waist were like a pair of sexy wings, accentuating the long legs.

Fu Xingran naturally knew that this back was attractive, and the waist was slender, but he couldn’t resist when it was so blatant in front of him and yet he had to remain unmoved.

Without saying a word, he walked over, deciding to be shameless once more.

Su Lixu caught a glimpse of Fu Xingran’s movement and quickly tried to close the door, but Fu Xingran grabbed the door frame. His strength was greater than Su Lixu’s, and what was supposed to be a small gap left was forcibly opened by Fu Xingran.

Su Lixu was speechless.

“Haha.” Fu Xingran blocked the door, with his other hand propped against the other side of the door frame, smugly looking at Su Lixu’s expressionless face. “Not as quick as me, huh?”

Su Lixu didn’t want to engage in futile struggles anymore. He turned and walked inside, while casually saying, “You’re quick, you’re very quick, you’re the fastest in the world.”

Fu Xingran was stunned for two seconds. Why did this sound like a double entendre? “No, I meant I run fast, you shouldn’t interpret my words.”

“So what, do you want to debate with me over just one sentence?” Su Lixu glanced at him sideways.

Fu Xingran was silenced by that look, and he made a zipper motion in front of his mouth, while also gesturing ‘ok, I get it’ to Su Lixu.

“Come help me wash my back,” Su Lixu said.

J”Sure thing, babe.”

As the final exams approached, students were busy reviewing, and many classes became self-study sessions.

Su Lixu received a last-minute invitation from his mentor to attend a seminar abroad for a week-long business trip, and his little puppy found out and started protesting.

At home—

“You’re going on a business trip for a week?! Isn’t that basically a long-distance relationship?! You want me to accept a long-distance relationship? That’s impossible, I protest!!”

Su Lixu sipped his tea and browsed through case studies, while also enjoying the sight of his protesting boyfriend jumping around. “Does your protest even matter? This is my job.”

Fu Xingran couldn’t believe how composed Su Lixu was. He squatted beside Su Lixu, “Babe, do you really want to leave me? One week, seven days, 168 hours, 10,080 minutes, 6—”

Su Lixu leaned down and kissed him, silencing his incessant chatter, “I know you’re good at math, you don’t need to count. Seven days is just seven days.”

Clearly, one kiss wasn’t enough for Fu Xingran, the relentless wolf. He hugged Su Lixu’s thigh and sat on the floor, looking like he wouldn’t let go if Su Lixu tried to leave the country.

“No, seven days is too long, I’ll miss you so much!” Fu Xingran rested his chin on Su Lixu’s thigh, looking up at him with a pitiful expression. “No, I don’t want to.”

Su Lixu thought for a moment. They had been together for almost a month and a half, which should still be considered the honeymoon period. It was normal for Fu Xingran to act like this, as they were still in the midst of their passionate love affair.

“I can’t cancel this seminar, just like you couldn’t bear to tear up your favorite painting when you were creating it,” he patiently reasoned with Fu Xingran. “You have your pursuits, and I have mine. We’re together now, and we’ll never be apart. Our love isn’t defined by being together every moment of the day. If you’re already afraid of these seven days, what about later? There might be two weeks, a month, or even longer periods apart. What will you do then?”

As Fu Xingran heard these increasingly absurd lengths of time, his expression darkened. “Are you going to be this busy from now on? What about me?”

“No doctor is not busy, no profession is not busy,” Su Lixu lowered his head and held Fu Xingran’s face gently. “Right now, you’re still a student. Maybe you’ve already started to take on some of your father’s business, but when you fully enter society, you’ll find that our time together will become less and less.”

Fu Xingran seemed unable to accept this explanation, his brows furrowing tighter. He stood up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, his whole body exuding an indescribable sense of irritability and low pressure.

“I know what you’re thinking.”

Just as Fu Xingran was feeling restless, he felt a warm embrace behind him, and this hug made his tense expression soften slightly.

Su Lixu hugged Fu Xingran from behind. “I know you’re afraid, but you need to understand that the man you like is not someone who gives up easily. Just like you, when he’s determined to do something, he will keep his promises. No matter how busy we get in the future, we’ll still have our good mornings and good nights, our hugs, our kisses, our deep conversations… None of that will change, okay, babe?”

After saying this, he didn’t wait for Fu Xingran’s immediate response, but he knew he might need to wait a bit longer.

He didn’t expect this guy to be reasonable in five minutes, nor did he need Fu Xingran to be that mature. He just hoped that in the future, even if they were far apart, his feelings could still reach Fu Xingran.

After a moment of silence, Fu Xingran turned around to look at Su Lixu. It seemed like he had digested everything, and his expression was slightly less distressed than before, but still quite pitiful.

Su Lixu couldn’t help but find his expression amusing. He forgave himself for wanting to laugh every time he saw Fu Xingran about to cry. He reached up and pinched Fu Xingran’s earlobe. “It’s not that serious.”

“Nothing will change? Will your love for me change?” Fu Xingran asked gloomily.

“Of course not.” Su Lixu lifted his head and kissed him, his eyes shining. “Maybe we’ll forget to say good morning and good night because we’re busy, we might forget to kiss and hug, or even have no time to buy cola, but one thing won’t change: my love for you. I promise.”

As he said this, he couldn’t help but doubt whether he was too hasty to be so certain in just a month and a half.

But after hearing Fu Xingran’s response, he felt like he couldn’t lose.

“I’ve loved you for four years anyway, so I’m definitely not changing. As for you, who knows? Whoever changes becomes the dog.”

Su Lixu turned his head and chuckled provocatively. “We’ll see.”

After hearing this, Fu Xingran seemed to relax, and he hugged Su Lixu tightly. “Babe, what should I do if I miss you at night while you’re away on your business trip?”

“Video call.”

The words lit up Fu Xingran’s eyes. “Then can we try video call—”

Su Lixu covered Fu Xingran’s mouth with his hand, threatening him with a glare. “I might not be the only one in the room.”

Fu Xingran seemed to realize something, and he pulled Su Lixu’s hand away, smiling mischievously. “So, as long as you’re alone, we can?”

Su Lixu: “…”

“I’ll take care of it.” Fu Xingran leaned close to Su Lixu’s ear and chuckled softly. “I don’t care. Seven days is a long time, and I miss you so much. I’ll need some comfort, unless you want me to fly over and keep you company, and then you won’t be able to get out of bed the next day and attend the seminar. Your choice.”

Su Lixu looked at Fu Xingran incredulously, momentarily speechless with anger.

Fu Xingran seemed to guess what he was going to say and joked, “Rogue, villain, pervert, bandit, tyrant, am I right? Hey, then I must be, if you don’t answer my call, I’ll fly over to you in the next second.”

Su Lixu: … Having an airplane is nothing to boast about.

Seeing Su Lixu looking like he was itching to scold him but unable to, Fu Xingran held him and shook him slightly. “Okay, okay, I won’t tease you anymore.”

Su Lixu chuckled lightly and glanced at him. “I see you’re getting more and more pleased with yourself now.”

“Of course,” Fu Xingran smiled brightly. “Can I not be pleased when I’m with my dream lover? I feel like flying a plane right now, pulling banners, letting the whole world know we’re together.”

“You better not,” Su Lixu said with a serious expression. He knew this guy was capable of doing such things, but he was thirty years old, and his face might not be able to withstand such an attack. “Calm down.”

“How about a video call, then?”

Su Lixu was speechless and ended up agreeing. “Fine.”

“How about we try it now?” Fu Xingran looked eager to try. “I’ll go back next door, then I’ll video call you and—”

Before he could finish his sentence, Su Lixu smacked the back of his head hard, leaving him staring in astonishment.

“Dreaming in broad daylight,” Su Lixu said mercilessly and walked away after the slap.

He’s becoming shameless, Su Lixu thought. He had expected this guy to tone it down a bit after they got together, but it seems that…

He’s doubling down.

And dragging him along.

How despicable.

Fu Xingran stared at the gradually reddening back of Su Lixu’s ears, smiling without saying a word. Clearly, he liked it, but he wondered who was better at playing tricks after drinking.

But it didn’t matter, he liked both anyway.

As long as he doesn’t leave him.
