Chapter 46: There are students down there
Su Lixu had a dream. He dreamt about his parents, his beloved younger brother, and the three of them waving goodbye after having a meal together. Then he dreamt about Fu Xingran.
He dreamt about the first time he saw Fu Xingran, guarded all over with red eyes, and he dreamt about the grown-up Fu Xingran.
Every touch in the dream seemed deliberate, leaving traces of intention, even feeling the itchiness on his neck from being kissed. In the dream, Fu Xingran was beside him, hugging him, lovingly nuzzling his neck as usual.
“Itchy… Stop it,” he murmured.
He thought for a moment, realizing even his dreams were filled with Fu Xingran. He must truly be under Fu Xingran’s spell.
“Babe~” That familiar, melodious voice with a rising tone?He suddenly opened his eyes.
The handsome face from his dream was now close, lying next to him, smiling with his head propped up on his hand.
Su Lixu sat up abruptly, staring in disbelief at Fu Xingran who suddenly appeared by his bedside. How did this guy get here? He thought he was dreaming, even pinched his thigh, finally waking up from the pain, and exclaimed in surprise, “Fu Xingran?”
Before he could finish, Fu Xingran pressed him down, pulling him into his arms.
“You’re finally awake. I’ve been watching you for an hour.” Fu Xingran, the clingy boyfriend, tightly embraced his Su Lixu, trapping his legs, burying his face in Su Lixu’s neck, smelling him with satisfaction. “You smell so good, babe~”
Su Lixu hadn’t fully processed the situation yet. He reached out to touch Fu Xingran’s approaching face. “How did you get here?”
Remembering what this guy said in the video call last night, did he really come?
“You said you missed me, right? So I had to come. How could I let you miss me so much, my baby?” Fu Xingran held Su Lixu’s hand to his lips, repeatedly kissing the palm.
The sound of kisses made Su Lixu’s palm itch, and it also softened his heart completely. Looking at Fu Xingran, who was holding him, he saw the hint of exhaustion in his eyes, knowing there was a seven-hour time difference from here to his home country, clearly indicating he hadn’t slept all night.
But he still came to find him.
No need to ask how Fu Xingran knew which city, hotel, and room he was in. After being with this person, he was convinced that no matter where he was, this person would unfailingly find him.
Maybe that was his boyfriend’s superpower.
Su Lixu raised his hand to touch the corner of Fu Xingran’s eyes gently, his tone gentle. “Are you tired?”
Fu Xingran met Su Lixu’s gentle gaze, hearing the infinitely indulgent inquiry. He pretended to be tired and nestled on Su Lixu’s shoulder, “Yes.” He didn’t want to say he hadn’t slept all night just to come here because he knew Su Lixu would understand.
“Want to sleep while I hold you?” Su Lixu’s hand slipped around Fu Xingran’s neck, pulling him into his arms.
Fu Xingran nestled into Su Lixu’s embrace, wrapping his arm around Su Lixu’s waist, slowly closing his eyes. Now, he felt like the world was full. Without Su Lixu that night, everything felt unbearable.
He was grateful he made it through that day.
Grateful that Su Lixu appeared.
Grateful that Su Lixu fell in love with him.
Finally, he could sleep peacefully.
Su Lixu listened to the steady breathing beside him, gazing at the hint of blue beneath Fu Xingran’s eyelids, his brow furrowing slightly. Suddenly, he thought back to the past when this guy had poor sleep quality; often, he’d be up early, already sitting by the window drawing.
But now that they were together, his sleep quality had always been excellent, basically falling asleep in seconds, especially when sleeping with Fu Xingran. The “partner effect” was fully manifested in him.
But what about Fu Xingran? He only knew that before they were together, this guy often pretended to sleep.
“Babe, are you asleep?” Su Lixu softly called out, unsure if Fu Xingran was asleep, and received a response of steady breathing. Still uncertain, he leaned closer to listen.
Fu Xingran’s steady and gentle breathing brushed past his ears, harmonizing with the sound of his heartbeat, making his heart melt.
Su Lixu lay back, looking at the handsome boy sleeping in his arms, his gaze tracing the pleasing features of Fu Xingran’s face. He looked incredibly handsome and well-behaved when sleeping, without a hint of mischief.
Feeling an itch in his fingers, he reached out to trace the contours of Fu Xingran’s face.
Fu Xingran’s eyes were large and round, with slightly drooping corners that made him look innocent. His features were handsome, with a defined jawline and gentle cheekbones, giving him a soft facial profile, yet when he was being stubborn or mischievous, it created a strong contrast.
The boy who looked so well-behaved turned out to be so naughty, yet his mischievousness was endearing.
Childishness, youthfulness, and a touch of dominance were all vividly displayed in Fu Xingran.
And romance, deeply ingrained and unwavering, seemed to be a skill engraved in Fu Xingran’s soul. Because of desire, there were fantasies, and this burning fire transmitted its warmth to his body.
The reason he couldn’t resist Fu Xingran was that this boy lived out the recklessness he desired, like the one in his fantasies.
Just as Fu Xingran’s romantic discourse stated: “The inherent romance in this world is not romantic to me. I want to refute it because I believe romance is in keeping you to myself.”
He agreed with this viewpoint.
Because he also wanted to keep Fu Xingran, full of conflicting charm, just for himself.
“Sleep now,” he gently patted Fu Xingran’s back.
Their surprise encounter in a foreign land was like a little secret between the two of them, unknown to anyone, because they would part ways again in the late afternoon.
At the airport, after a deep embrace, they reluctantly parted.
“Study hard, I’ll be waiting for you to come home,” Su Lixu zipped up Fu Xingran’s jacket.
Watching Su Lixu zip up his jacket, Fu Xingran’s eyes were filled with indulgence. “Work hard, I’ll be waiting for you to come home.”
Su Lixu met Fu Xingran’s smile and smiled back. “Okay, babe.”
“Only five days left, and I’ll miss you so much,” Fu Xingran felt tortured at the thought of five more days apart. He didn’t want to let go of Su Lixu, clinging to him.
If it weren’t for the first exam being tomorrow, he wouldn’t leave, and what’s even more bizarre was that the second exam wouldn’t start until three days later.
Su Lixu rested his chin on Fu Xingran’s shoulder, listening to his playful complaints with a smile, reaching out to pat his back. “Soon, I’ll miss you just as much.”
The airport announcement reminded of boarding calls.
Fuxing Ran took three steps and looked back.
Su Lixu waved goodbye with a smile.
The meaning of life evolves with partings, leading to new insights, with the deepest meaning being the joy of reunion after separation.
Because someone waits patiently, parting is not sorrowful but filled with anticipation.
As exam week approached in January, the library was brightly lit 24/7, with students preparing for their finals.
Fu Xingran had been busy preparing for his art exhibition and the Jiang Tianyi Project, leaving little time to study for his theory courses, showing signs of potentially failing.
This worried Su Lixu.
In the office, while flipping through reports, Su Lixu supervised Fu Xingran, who was supposed to be studying but instead found him doodling on the pages, which was quite vexing.
He grabbed a tissue and tossed it at Fu Xingran.
“Ouch!” Fu Xingran, hit on the head, exclaimed, rubbing the spot with a hurt expression, looking at Su Lixu with a pout. “Babe, you’re so violent.”
He quickly covered the ring sketch on the edge of the page, interrupted by the hit, with his arm, leaving no trace.
“What are you drawing?” Su Lixu stood up, walking over to Fu Xingran with a serious expression. “I’ve given you the key points, and you’re doodling instead of studying?”
Fu Xingran pretended to accidentally drop the book to the floor. Bending down to pick it up, he closed the page he had been doodling on. “I wasn’t drawing anything. I’m studying.”
“Then let me ask you, what does mental health refer to?”
Fu Xingran hesitated, stealing a guilty glance at Su Lixu. “Um, it means not thinking about… *cough*… lewd things all the time. I’m not very healthy in that regard.”
Su Lixu’s expression remained unchanged as he clenched his fists gradually.
Fu Xingran immediately hugged his head, his survival instincts kicking in. “I’ll study right now, don’t be angry. I’ll memorize all the content on mental health today.”
“What if you can’t memorize it all?” Su Lixu asked calmly.
Fu Xingran thought he definitely wouldn’t be able to. He hated memorizing theoretical stuff the most. He glanced at Su Lixu boldly and asked, “If I can’t memorize it all, could you give me some incentive, Mr. Su, to motivate me?”
Su Lixu couldn’t help but laugh and cry. “The exam is your responsibility, and failing is your consequence.”
“But you’ll lose face,” Fu Xingran innocently looked at Su Lixu. “Your boyfriend failing a subject is quite embarrassing.”
Su Lixu scanned the office, looking for something to hit Fu Xingran to wake him up.
Fu Xingran seemed to anticipate Su Lixu’s actions, quickly stood up and hugged him, using his usual playful tactics. “Don’t, don’t! I was wrong. I’ll study, don’t hit me with anything. You’ll regret it.”
Seeing Fu Xingran still acting playful, Su Lixu’s expression turned serious. “Fu Xingran, if you dare to fail me, I’ll…”
Before Su Lixu could finish his sentence, Fu Xingran sealed his lips with a kiss.
They ended up kissing and sitting on the chair, completely oblivious to the fact that the door wasn’t properly closed.
During lunch break, the office was quiet with the door slightly open. Passing students heard unusual noises and peeked through the crack, only to unexpectedly witness Mr. Su, who had always been gentle and reserved, with his collar slightly disheveled, sitting in the embrace of a tall, handsome young man, his hand on the man’s shoulder, eyes tinged with red.
“Dare to mention breaking up with me? I dare to punish you right here.”
“…You dare!”
“Of course, I dare. Hurry up and comfort me, or I’ll open the window, and there are students below.”
After a while, they heard the previously stern young man starting to coax someone.
“I’m sorry, baby, I didn’t mean to be harsh with you. Don’t cry.”
“Get lost.”
“I won’t, I won’t. I’ll comfort you.”
