Chapter 30 2/2
“That hotel and that taxi driver are all conspirators! All in it together! And that Sheng Quan! She said to let the tall guy send us on our way! Send us on our way!”
“My employer only wanted us to take them to the police station. As for the hotel, I did communicate with them because there was an incident at the hotel. So, please have the hotel manager come to the police station with us as a witness. The taxi driver? I don’t know him at all. He knew we were taking a criminal to the police station and even praised us for being brave.”
The police comrades could see that Sheng Quan and the others were deliberately intimidating the other party.
However, the truth was, they had just been chatting. There might have been some slight misunderstandings in their words, but they hadn’t done anything harmful throughout. Even when the other party claimed to have been assaulted, there were only minor red marks upon examination.
Although they knew that Jiang Lu likely had some skills, knowing how to hit someone to cause intense pain without leaving many traces, they couldn’t find any evidence.
Even if this went to court, Sheng Quan and her group wouldn’t suffer any losses. Moreover, the actions of these suspects were indeed disgusting, making one feel like they deserved to be punished. Intimidating them a little, within legal bounds and without causing harm, was understandable considering they were friends of the victim.
In the end, the police just gently advised them, “Next time you encounter a similar situation, try not to use ambiguous words. If the suspect takes it seriously, they might do something drastic, like jumping off a building or a car. Helping a friend is a good thing, but unnecessary complications should be avoided.”
Sheng Quan, of course, couldn’t say, “A group of people surrounded them, and they wanted to commit suicide.” Instead, she nodded obediently, “Yes, I understand. Thank you, officers.”
“Remember, your friends are coming out. Go comfort them.”
At this point, Lin Aike didn’t need comforting anymore.
Initially, she was quite panicked. Instead of the fear of being violated, she was more afraid that her professional career might be ruined in that moment.
She instinctively wanted to call the police at first, but just as she was about to dial 110, she hesitated. If she reported it, with police coming to arrest people in a public area, even without paparazzi, passersby would surely take photos and videos.
As long as this incident got out in this way, her career would likely be destroyed, even if she was not at fault.
Then she thought of Sheng Quan.
When Sheng Quan was still on the set, she had told Lin Aike that if she ever encountered difficulties, she could ask for help.
Even though Sheng Quan rushed to her quickly and had been communicating with her over the phone, Lin Aike was still initially filled with despair and anger.
Then, she simply couldn’t afford to be afraid or desperate.
When she went downstairs, her mind was full of thoughts like, “My wealthy friend wants to kill me; what should I do?” and “How do I persuade her not to dirty her hands for such garbage?”
At that moment, Lin Aike was completely bewildered.
Her thought process went like this:
Does Sheng CEO really care about me so much?
She’s actually willing to kill for me.
But killing is against the law.
But she’s doing it for me; she really loves me.
No, no, that’s against the law too. I can’t let her go to jail for me.
Sheng Quan thought her trembling hands were due to fear.
But her trembling hands were actually because she was afraid Sheng Quan would go down a path of no return for her.
This scum isn’t worth sparing, but Sheng CEO shouldn’t commit a crime for him.
So later, Lin Aike completely forgot about fear and despair. She just wanted to quickly stop Sheng, CEO.
Then, in the car, she trembled and, with a quivering voice and a bit of a sob, said:
“I know you’re venting for me, but this is illegal. If we get caught, we’ll go to jail. Can we please not kill him?”
There was a moment of silence in the car.
Then, the two girls sitting next to her burst into laughter.
Sheng Quan almost laughed until her stomach hurt. “Hahaha, hahaha, I thought you were silent because you were scared. Did you really believe I would kill him? Oh! Do you think I’m a rich young lady?”
The new friend next to her also laughed heartily. She was already pretty, and this laugh made her even more dazzling than Lin Aike.
“Hahaha, hahaha, so you were actually thinking about that just now. It was so obvious you were scaring them. Hahaha!”
Then Lin Aike was mercilessly mocked by the two all the way.
What sorrow, what despair, what helplessness, what pain—all gone.
If possible, she even wanted to dig a hole in the ground and hide.
The police comrades were investigating the case, uncovering many people involved, and tracing a “chain of transactions.” Sheng Quan and Lin Aike made new friends in the process.
Xu Man.
Although she was very beautiful, she was actually a director.
She didn’t even know Lin Aike; she just happened to stay in the same hotel. When she came out for takeout, she found Lin Aike in a dazed and unconscious state, being dragged towards her room. Sensing something was wrong and wanting to call the police, she was noticed by the other party.
Not only was her phone snatched, but she was also forcibly dragged into the room.
Then, she used a flower vase to hit the other party’s head.
Brandishing shards like a madwoman, and with Lin Aike, who was still in a dazed state, joining the fight, they both went crazy and fought anyone they saw.
Two against three was definitely an uneven match, especially considering the physical differences between men and women. Lin Aike, who was still under the effects of Chinese medicine, had her clothes torn apart, but their reckless fighting style eventually allowed them to escape into the room.
Recalling this experience, Lin Aike was both frightened and grateful.
“If it weren’t for you, I definitely wouldn’t have woken up.”
Xu Man looked like a beautiful and talented director, but her personality was similar to Yuan Zixin’s. Both had the chivalrous spirit of helping when seeing injustice.
Waving her hand, she said, “It’s nothing. Even if it wasn’t you, I would have helped. But next time, I’ll remember to go back to my room before calling the police. Those scumbags, I’ve dealt with them before. It’s just that the tools in the hotel were too few, and the chairs were nailed to the ground. If I had a weapon, who knows who would have won?”
Sheng Quan silently nibbled on an apple on the side.
She believed Xu Man’s words.
Xu Man, a genius director, was a fleeting character in the book.
The reason she was a fleeting character wasn’t because her works had a short lifespan but because during a late-night snack session, she was ambushed by a group of people who coveted her beauty.
Xu Man picked up a chair and fought with five men.
In the end, three of the five men died, two were severely injured, and she herself passed away due to infections from wounds.
After Sheng Quan finished reading this part of the plot, she immediately went to the gym and got a membership.
However, due to constant overtime work, she only went to the gym three to five times a year.
At this moment, Xu Man was still talking enthusiastically:
“I suggest you guys also practice martial arts. Although physical strength is something innate and not easy to improve, we can have weapon bonuses. Next time we encounter such a situation, we’ll have the ability to protect ourselves.”
“Hey, I won’t talk to you guys anymore. I have to go meet with that Liu Zong and see if I can get him to invest. Really, these investors want to invest, yet they insist on inserting people. If they must insert someone, they should at least pick someone with no acting skills. If they lack acting skills, they lack acting skills. But they’re also ugly. When will their taste return to that of normal people?”
Sheng Quan grabbed her.
Xu Man, who appeared ethereal, turned around, looking at her in confusion. “What’s up?”
Sheng Quan swallowed the apple in her mouth. “I am a normal person.”
“I’ll invest in you. I won’t interfere with the cast or forcefully insert people. How much money do you need?”
Xu Man: “…”
According to her, in that moment, she felt like she saw a golden light.
dazzling kind of gold.
