Chapter 76 1/2
The problem of the production line for the guide mechanical dog was solved.
However, demand still exceeded supply.
“Interstellar War” exploded.
Even Shengquan didn’t expect it to reach such explosive levels on the first day.
As a rare science fiction film in Huaxia, the audience on the first day of its release was extraordinary.
Observing the audience, including people of all ages, the cinema staff, watching an elderly person supported by a young man with a crutch, couldn’t help but whisper to their colleagues:
“I’ve been working here for a year, and I’ve never seen so many elderly viewers in a single day.”
Movie theaters were probably one of the places with the fewest elderly people, especially for large-screen technology movies. It was rare to see elderly audiences in these settings.
Fortunately, even though elderly people rarely went to the movies, the impact of the global entertainment era had influenced the cinema industry in Huaxia, and they had done well catering to the elderly.
Although there were restrictions on ticket purchases for elderly people, considering their relatively fragile health (for example, those with heart-related illnesses were not allowed to buy tickets for thrilling or scary movies), as long as they were in good health and signed a safety agreement, they could still watch movies normally.
Despite these special cinema regulations for the elderly, throughout the year, not many elderly people chose to enter the cinema. They preferred watching TV over movies and the internet. Ordinary movies were basically not considered, let alone large-screen science fiction films.
“It’s because of the previous crew’s efforts in flood relief,” said a colleague, who had an elderly person at home and understood the situation. “My grandmother, for example, after watching the news, kept saying that Shengquan is a good girl. We must support the movies she makes. She even gave us money to buy tickets and support.”
“She knows an old man who personally bought tickets to watch. She envied him so much.”
The staff clicked their tongues. Since they didn’t have elderly people at home, what they usually saw on the internet were young people praising and fantasizing about how good the movie was. They didn’t know that Shengquan had such a good image in the eyes of the elderly.
“But it’s true. My parents usually don’t pay attention to entertainment news, but they know Shengquan and even know that Shengquan has a snail noodle company.”
“One night, when I was eating snail noodles, my mom came out, first scolded me a bit, then suddenly said, ‘[The next time you buy snail noodles, buy Xiangxiang Luo, support a conscientious company],’ surprising me.”
The colleague nodded. “But Xiangxiang Luo is really delicious, tasty, and reasonably priced. I only bought it because my grandmother wanted to support Shengquan, but it turned out to be amazing!”
“Besides, my stomach, after eating Xiangxiang Luo, was perfectly fine.”
“Wow! I’ll buy it when I go back!”
These two were also like hidden dragons and crouching tigers. One had a slight allergy to chemicals in cosmetics due to excessive use, causing her skin to turn slightly red with just a little application. The other had a naturally weak stomach, and every time she accidentally ate something unclean, she would react immediately.
If it were someone else, they might find it annoying, although not severe, but when they got together, one tested new cosmetics and skincare products bought online, and the other tested nearby takeaway snack shops and various fast foods. How joyful they were!
“It seems that the online rumors are true. Shengquan acquired Xiangxiang Luo because she likes to eat it herself. That’s great. If even the boss eats it, there should be no safety issues.”
Just as they were chatting lightly, two more elderly people entered the cinema.
They still had some concerns: “After all, it’s a science fiction movie, and it’s on a large screen. The sound effects are also shocking. What if something happens?”
Although the elderly had undoubtedly signed safety agreements and the cinema would not be responsible in case of any incidents, no one wanted anything to happen.
They had never seen a movie, but they roughly knew the plot. It was about the interstellar era, where people had verified space and time. Scientists predicted a massive explosion capable of destroying half the universe, and the only solution was to travel back in time through a dual timeline to a parallel spacetime 3,000 years ago. By interfering with parallel spacetime and achieving spacetime entanglement, they could affect their own world.
One interstellar alliance agreed to take the risk, while another opposed it, believing it would only expedite the rapid occurrence of the big explosion. In short, the setting seemed ordinary and outrageous, but the movie somehow managed to make it work.
But did the interstellar setting, the big explosion, time travel, and battles really suit elderly viewers?
Fortunately, when the movie ended, the audience came out smoothly.
Hmm… It didn’t seem that smooth.
“I want to watch it again. Can’t I buy another ticket? Why can’t I buy it?”
An old man who had come by himself, looking about sixty, with gray hair but no cane, indicating that he was relatively healthy to enter the cinema, had apparently just cried in the cinema. Although his eyes were slightly red, his emotions were somewhat uplifted. As he spoke, he took out the modern rarity of cash, slightly trembling, and handed it to the staff.
“I have money. I brought money.”
The staff couldn’t help but laugh and cry. They could only patiently explain, “Grandpa, the tickets for each day are limited. It’s not that I don’t want to help you buy, but all the tickets for ‘Interstellar War’ today are sold out, and you can’t buy them anymore.”
“Sold out.” The old man was disappointed but didn’t take back the money. Instead, he quickly shifted his focus: “Can I buy them for tomorrow?”
The staff looked and said, “Tomorrow’s also sold out, but there are seats available the day after tomorrow at 10:30 in the morning. The seats are not that good; they’re towards the back. Can you accept that?”
“I can, I can. Help me buy it.”
Although he couldn’t watch it today, the old man was very satisfied. After thinking for a moment, he added, “Can you buy two tickets? I want my wife to come and watch too.”
In the end, he happily bought two tickets. When he turned to leave, he saw another old man walking towards him. He kindly said:
“You want to buy tickets, right? There are none for today, only the day after tomorrow.”
“The day after tomorrow? That’s fine.” The new arrival quickly accepted that only tickets for the day after tomorrow were available and walked towards the staff, a bit shaky.
“I want to buy tickets; um, how many are left? I want my friends to come and watch.”
On the first day of the release of “Interstellar War,” there were indeed a considerable number of people who immediately wanted to watch it again. The comments section was mostly:
“[Shocked]”
【Oh my god, I’ve watched a lot of foreign science fiction movies. I didn’t have high expectations for Chinese sci-fi, but I came to see it because of Jiang Zhen. I didn’t expect it to be so good. How did they achieve such a futuristic and realistic feel? I was instantly immersed!】
【Ahhh, scientists, charge me up! I want to enter the future world! Ahhh!】
【The special effects are amazing! When I saw the countless spaceships surrounding the planet to rescue Guoli, ahhhh, I was so excited all over!
【I didn’t expect that three thousand years ago, the people of Huaxia would be willing to acknowledge Guoli, and I didn’t expect that those in this current timeline would be willing to sacrifice everything for the big explosion three thousand years later. At that moment, I understood what a pure Huaxia bloodline represents. Sob, sob, sob, who understands this feeling?】
