Ji Fan stared blankly at her hand that had been slapped away.

Her white wrist still had a faint red mark.

What did Jiang Cha just say?

Divorce?

Jiang Cha’s eyes were filled with tears, her eye sockets and nose tip were red, as if she was heartbroken to the extreme, but the look in her eyes towards her carried a hint of despair and hatred.

Hate?

Such a look was so unfamiliar, and Ji Fan was caught off guard.

She had never seen Jiang Cha show such a strange expression. In the past, she had always been compliant, with an undisguised admiration, and when Ji Fan was looked at by her, she felt a little bit of vanity. Who doesn’t like a beautiful girl secretly admiring them?

But now?

And she just said, divorce?

She must have heard wrong, right?

Jiang Cha was so happy to marry her, how could she suddenly want a divorce?

Ji Fan raised an eyebrow, staring at her incredulously, and said softly, “What did you say?”

“Divorce,” Jiang Cha repeated word by word, “I’m not getting married.”

“Are you crazy?” Ji Fan exclaimed, “What’s wrong with you today? There are so many guests and reporters outside waiting!”

In the end, Jiang Cha took one last careful look at her.

There was only a little bit of lingering affection.

Ji Fan was wearing a pure black wedding dress with a deep V-neck that opened all the way to her waist, exuding a sexy and mysterious aura. The gauze skirt and long curly hair scattered like a waterfall of ink, a silver chain on her collarbone with a deep blue silver-bottomed diamond pendant, paired with blood-red lips, was both striking and dazzling.

Black gives people a feeling of stability, profundity, and mystery, while red is not overly flamboyant. The combination of the two makes people dare only to look from a distance, to admire from a distance, for fear of offending if they get too close.

This person was very beautiful.

She had loved her.

She did like Ji Fan, but she didn’t want to be cheap.

“Why?” Ji Fan looked at her, her brow furrowed, “Didn’t you like me? Why don’t you continue to like me? Isn’t marriage good?”

“You,” Jiang Cha’s chest heaved for a moment, and she closed her eyes, saying, “You were with Luo Yan.”

Jiang Cha didn’t expect it to be so difficult to say this sentence. It was as if she had used all her strength.

For a moment, there was an unknown amount of greed left in her mind.

If Ji Fan personally denied it, and told her personally that it was a misunderstanding, that she and Luo Yan were nothing, that they had nothing, then she might really be willing to deceive herself and tell herself that Ji Fan was serious about her, that they had feelings for each other, but Ji Fan was just a quiet person who didn’t like to express herself.

However, Ji Fan only shrank her pupils, her deep eyes moved, and after a moment of silence, she quietly asked her, “Who told you?”

“Luo Yan, was it her?”

Back then, their relationship was a secret, and besides the two of them, who else could know?

Jiang Cha looked at her and smiled bitterly.

She didn’t deny it at all.

Ji Fan’s chest heaved for a moment, and she frowned, “It was so many years ago, is it necessary to keep bringing it up?”

Jiang Cha tilted her head and smiled self-mockingly, tears silently sliding down her cheeks.

“You didn’t let me make a sound, was it because my voice wasn’t like Luo Yan’s?” Jiang Cha asked tremblingly, “Why didn’t you tell me earlier? If you had told me earlier, how could I possibly have thrown myself at you.”

Ji Fan looked at her in silence.

A single tear dripped from her trembling chin.

“Since you don’t like me, why did you play with me like this?”

No.

Ji Fan’s lips trembled silently. She wanted to deny it, but what could she deny?

Deny her relationship with Luo Yan?

Deny her once-unresolved obsession with Luo Yan?

Or say, she didn’t dislike Jiang Cha?

For a moment, she was startled by herself.

Did she like Jiang Cha?

Ji Fan suddenly stood up, her long lashes drooping, and her breathing became disordered for a moment.

A hint of blush appeared on her white earlobes.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

“It’s almost time.” Luo Yan came to open the door, “What are the two brides doing? The flower girls are waiting for you.”

She pushed open the door, her expression slightly reserved.

Behind her followed a group of people: the wedding supervisor, the emcee, the manager, the supervisor, and even a wedding photographer carrying a camera, following behind to take pictures.

The door opened.

Everyone poked their heads in curiously, wondering: What’s going on?

In the empty dressing room, the window was wide open, and a cool spring breeze blew in, carrying a hint of chill.

The two brides were in fluffy wedding dresses, one standing and one sitting on the ground;

The one in the black dress had a frosty face, looking like a wife who had run away;

The one in the white dress, with red eyes and nose, looked wronged, as if she had been bullied.

As if not noticing the many people watching, Ji Fan slowly raised her head, staring at Luo Yan, “What did you tell her.”

Ji Fan’s eyes were terrifyingly calm, as if suppressing something, about to erupt at the next moment.

This sentence was headless and tailless, but those who understood would naturally know what she was asking.

Luo Yan entered the room, shutting out the countless inquiring gazes.

She sighed and said helplessly, “I didn’t mean to, I was on the phone with someone in the restroom… and she overheard me.”

Ji Fan’s red lips curled up, the corners of her lips curled up in a subtle way, a little mocking, a little hateful.

“If you really didn’t want her to know, why did you make that call?”

Ji Fan’s expression became so unfamiliar.

When had she ever spoken to her in such a tone?

Ji Fan looked at her, her face as cold as frost, “When we were together, you didn’t dare to tell anyone, why, now you dare to tell Jiang Cha.”

Her tone was filled with a fine and dense hatred.

Hatred.

Ji Fan hated her for Jiang Cha?

Luo Yan opened her eyes wide in confusion, looking at Ji Fan and then at Jiang Cha.

Jiang Cha couldn’t take it anymore.

She didn’t want to stay in the same space with these two people at all. It felt like she was superfluous, so suffocated that she couldn’t breathe.

“Divorce,” Jiang Cha repeated, trying to sound calm.

“Divorce is fine,” Ji Fan pulled her up wearily and said softly, “Let’s finish the ceremony first. You’re a star after all, and so many reporters are watching.”

“…”

“After the wedding, I’ll accompany you to the Civil Affairs Bureau. I agree to the divorce.”

She agreed.

As expected.

Marrying her, Ji Fan just wanted to repay her, right?

Maybe there was a little bit of reluctant moral obligation as well.

She was probably relieved that Jiang Cha was the one to initiate the divorce.

Why didn’t she think about it at the time? How come it was such a coincidence that she blocked the truck for Ji Fan and Ji Fan saw all the secrets in her phone, and then Ji Fan said she wanted to marry her?

Was she feeling sorry for her because she liked her so much and pitied her?

Was she treating marriage as atonement?

Jiang Cha smiled self-mockingly. She didn’t want a love that was gained through such a pathetic and self-deprecating way.

Jiang Cha lowered her head.

That’s it, they were over. It felt so good. From now on, she would be alone, she wouldn’t have to constantly focus her attention on Ji Fan, she was free.

Jiang Cha stood up, glanced at Ji Fan and Luo Yan, smiled, and pushed open the door.

Ji Fan calmed her breathing and followed her out one after the other.

Everyone quickly made way, looking at them in surprise.

Ji Fan walked beside her, and under the watchful eyes of everyone, she reached out her hand, her bony white fingers tightly gripping Jiang Cha’s hand, refusing to let go.

Luo Yan looked at their hands, her expression darkening for a moment.

••••

In the Hall.

A long red carpet ran down the center of the hall, dividing the guest seats on both sides. At the end, a long door suddenly opened, and a brilliant light instantly shone in.

The two brides, one in white and the other in black, walked forward step by step, with flower girls holding up their skirts.

At the end of the corridor, the choir hummed slowly along with the pianist, and the priest looked at the couple with kind eyes.

Slowly approaching, their lips met in a kiss.

With a few clicks, the photos were taken, and the moment was captured.

The reporter flipped through the photos with satisfaction, looking at them and already thinking of the headline for the next day’s news.

Next was the endless and boring banquet. Jiang Cha was led by Ji Fan, toasting from table to table, calling one name after another. The repeated toasts of “Congratulations”, “Happy wedding”, and “May you live happily ever after” made her stomach churn, and she felt like vomiting.

Three hours later.

The guests had all left, and the wedding was finally over.

Jiang Cha stood at the hotel door, with Ji Fan standing beside her, looking indifferent.

Outside the hotel was a garden, where clusters of lilac flowers had burst into bloom. The small white flowers, gathered in bunches, were lush and dense, swaying gently in the wind.

A faint fragrance drifted away.

“When are we going to the Civil Affairs Bureau?”

Jiang Cha lifted a strand of hair from her ear and squinted at Ji Fan in the wind.

Since the wedding ended, Ji Fan had been silent, not saying a word.

“Why?” Ji Fan turned her head, “Just because of Luo Yan? You’re divorcing me? Didn’t you always like me?”

Jiang Cha lowered her head and smiled, and it was unknown whether it was the wind that was too bleak and cold, but her voice was inexplicably indifferent, “Now that I’m going to divorce you, of course I don’t like you anymore.”

“You don’t like me anymore?”

Ji Fan repeated softly, “You can stop liking me so easily?”

Her heart ached, and for some reason, it suddenly went dark before her eyes, and her mind went blank for a moment before slowly recovering.

Jiang Cha’s wedding dress was still not changed, and the snow-white veil set off her delicate face. At this moment, she didn’t look at her, but just stared quietly into the distance, with a carefree expression.

“You can’t stop liking me,” Ji Fan lifted her long eyelashes, her eyelids filled with coldness.

Jiang Cha suddenly looked up.

“I won’t divorce.” Ji Fan said.

“…”

“I’ve changed my mind.” Ji Fan squeezed her hand, leaning in, and said word by word, “I don’t want to divorce anymore. Is that okay?”

The previous Jiang Cha might have smiled and said, “Okay,” then obediently listened to whatever she wanted. Back then, as long as Ji Fan was happy, Jiang Cha was willing to do anything.

But now it was different.

Jiang Cha turned her head and said expressionlessly, “You promised me a divorce.”

Ji Fan chuckled, “I don’t promise anymore.”

“…”

“Aren’t you going to continue acting?” She squeezed Jiang Cha’s wrist and said indifferently, “If you offend me, can you still act?”

“I won’t act anymore,” Jiang Cha raised her head, shook her off, and frowned, “I won’t act anymore!”

“Give up? Are you willing to?” Ji Fan leaned close to her ear, “I don’t think so. At least, I don’t think you’re willing to give up on that director surnamed Song.”

Luo Yan and Ji Fan. You’re both trash! I am hoping for Jiang Cha for a secret talent or something to build another career. If not, let’s play with Ji Fan. That’s what she had always thought Jiang Cha was doing anyway. Who cares if she had a change of heart? Ji Fan still should not have played her. Not everyone is willing to lower their dignity to chase someone who likes another. It’s a waste of time especially when you’re searching a companion or a sincere relationship.
