Chapter 14: Off to the Comic Convention

The home had long been prepared for them, with soft, cozy beds and all kinds of toys.

“Come in quickly, this will be your home from now on.” said Jiang Mingyue, leading one dog in each hand as she stepped through the front door.

“Aunt Du, I’ve brought the dogs home!”

Aunt Du came out from the kitchen. “Wow, such adorable dogs. What are their names?”

Jiang Mingyue pointed at the white Samoyed. “This one is called Xixi.” she said, then pointed at the Husky: “and this one is called Haha.”

Aunt Du said: “Xixi and Haha—those are rather amusing names.”

She couldn’t resist rubbing the dogs’ heads as well.

Having just arrived, Xixi and Haha were still a bit unaccustomed to the new environment. They sat obediently and quietly on the sofa.

But after one meal, the little pair was already rolling on the carpet, clutching their toys.

Jiang Mingyue suddenly remembered she needed to send photos of the dogs to Qi Ze.

So she picked up her phone and started taking a series of pictures.

“Xixi, Haha, look over here.”

“Come on, give Uncle Qi a little paw and say hello.”

She didn’t just take photos; she also recorded a few videos of the dogs and sent them all to Qi Ze in one go.

She even showed off the various toys she had bought for the dogs.

Lu Lin, having just finished taking down a blue buff, casually asked: “Who’s been messaging you nonstop?”

Qi Ze took the chance to teleport back to base for healing and opened Jiang Mingyue’s messages.

A string of dog photos appeared, and he looked through them one by one.

Lu Lin leaned in curiously. “Such cute dogs. Whose are they?”

Qi Ze didn’t reply and simply continued scrolling.

“Whoa! Pretty girl! You’ve got a girlfriend?!”

Lu Lin had just caught a glimpse of the selfie Jiang Mingyue sent—the one with her grinning, holding a dog in each arm. His eyes widened in shock.

“No.” Qi Ze answered without even lifting his head, his tone calm and composed.

His fingers tapped swiftly across the screen as he sent a message to Jiang Mingyue.

Ze: Received. Congratulations!

Lu Lin looked skeptical. “Then who is she?”

“Jiang Mingyue.”

“The Jiang Mingyue who played a game with us last time? Let me take another look—I didn’t see clearly just now.”

Lu Lin leaned in again.

Qi Ze pushed his head away and returned to the game interface.

The second mid-lane turret had already been destroyed.

“Nothing to see. Focus on the game.”

Lu Lin: “You played a game with her last time, and now she’s sending you pictures. Don’t tell me your relationship is nothing! Come clean!”

Qi Ze replied: “There’s nothing going on. Don’t jump to conclusions. You’re about to die.”

When Zhao Wenxin was still alive, the two families would often visit each other.

Qi Ze and Lu Lin had also known each other from a very young age, practically growing up together.

After Zhao Wenxin passed away, Lin Anning cut off all contact with the Qi family. She had always believed that Wenxin’s death was Qi Fengyuan’s fault and had come to despise him completely.

But her affection for Qi Ze never changed.

Whenever Qi Ze was wronged at home as a child, he would run to Lin Anning’s place. Sometimes he would even stay there for days at a time.

Because of that, the Lu family had always kept a room set aside for Qi Ze.

That night, Qi Ze leaned against the headboard of the bed and opened Jiang Mingyue’s WeChat.

After he replied to her message, Jiang Mingyue sent back a sticker.

The Samoyed had a warm and adorable smile, and the Husky stared with wide eyes, grinning goofily.

Jiang Mingyue sat between them, her face lit up with joy, looking even happier than the dogs themselves.

Her eyes curved like crescent moons, red lips lifted in a radiant smile, revealing a neat row of white teeth.

The two tiny canines on either side added a playful charm to her already bright expression.

She looked like the warmth of early spring sunlight—radiant and comforting.

How could she smile so happily?

It seemed that ever since that day, every time he saw her, she was smiling.

Without thinking, Qi Ze saved the photo.

The moment after, he realized what he had done.

He suddenly flung his phone away.

What was he doing?

What was there to analyze in a single photo!

Early the next morning, Jiang Mingyue got up and began getting ready.

She was going to the comic convention primarily to take photos. To move around more easily, she had designed a simple cosplay outfit for herself.

It was a white and lavender sleeveless dress with a high collar.

The top portion was form-fitting, while the lower half flared out.

The outermost layer of the skirt was smooth white fabric that continued seamlessly from the bodice.

Beneath that was a pale lavender ruffle, and under that, a layer of white lace trim.

Two purple frog closures decorated the collar, mirroring each other above and below.

Her long hair was styled into a high ponytail in soft lavender, with the ends curled slightly and draping just past the hem of her dress.

At the crown of her head, she wore a white butterfly-shaped hair clip.

On her feet were white knee-high boots with a slight heel, the shafts snugly wrapping around her straight, slender calves.

Her face bore no heavy makeup—just a light touch of cosmetics and lavender-colored contact lenses.

Jiang Mingyue was naturally fair-skinned, and this entire outfit made her look even fairer.

Her figure was slender and graceful, with curves in all the right places.

She turned in front of the full-length mirror, feeling completely satisfied with her look.

Once she was ready, she headed downstairs.

Aunt Du had just come out of the kitchen carrying a tray of freshly steamed soup dumplings.

When she saw Jiang Mingyue’s outfit, she couldn’t help but exclaim.

“Yueyue, you look so beautiful today!”

Jiang Mingyue grinned joyfully. “Hehe, I’m going to a comic convention with a friend today, so I dressed up a little.”

Aunt Du took her hand and twirled her around, inspecting her closely with admiration.

“You’re absolutely stunning—like a little princess from a castle.”

Jiang Mingyue blushed slightly from the praise. “It’s not that exaggerated.”

Aunt Du insisted: “In my heart, Yueyue will always be a little princess!”

After breakfast, Jiang Mingyue asked Uncle Driver to take her to Chen Xiangyi’s house first.

Then the two of them would head to the convention together.

Chen Xiangyi was cosplaying as Yao Mei in her Encounter with the Divine Deer appearance—she looked exactly like the deer goddess herself.

A pair of floral-adorned antlers sat nestled in her silvery-white hair.

Her dress, in vibrant shades of orange and teal, was full of energy and spirit.

Bells decorated her wrists and ankles, ringing softly with every step.

She looked like a woodland sprite who had stepped out from the forest.

The two girls immediately launched into a sincere session of mutual flattery, in true cosplay camaraderie.
