Chapter 15: Lucky Audience
The two of them met and exchanged sincere commercial compliments.
It was a Little Bee ACG Carnival.
There were a lot of people attending.
By the time they arrived, a long line had already formed.
Fortunately, they had bought VIP tickets, so they were able to enter quickly.
The venue was large, with various stalls everywhere. The two of them wandered around for a while.
Jiang Mingyue took many individual photos of Chen Xiangyi.
Then, Chen Xiangyi pulled Jiang Mingyue to look for people to collect stamps.
“There are a lot of people over there. Let’s go see which cosplay it is.”
As they approached, they were stunned. It was actually a cosplay of the God of Wealth.
Wearing a red robe and an official hat, holding a large ingot, the aura of wealth was overwhelming.
Some people were taking photos, while others were bowing, praying for the God of Wealth’s blessings.
Chen Xiangyi laughed: “Haha, this is so interesting… What are you doing?”
She turned her head and saw Jiang Mingyue, looking pious, with her hands pressed together and murmuring something.
Jiang Mingyue looked at her with a look of complete assurance. “Praying is never wrong.”
“…”
“Look over there.” Jiang Mingyue pointed out: “There’s also Guanyin Bodhisattva.”
Chen Xiangyi’s eyes widened as she grabbed her hand, running toward it. “Wow, it looks so beautiful.”
Then, they approached and asked: “Xiao Jiejie, may I take a photo?”
Guanyin Bodhisattva gave a slight smile and spoke: “Sure.”
Her voice was deep and magnetic.
It turned out to be a boy, and he was extraordinarily handsome.
“It turns out it’s Xiao Gege (Little Brother), sorry about that.” Chen Xiangyi said, looking quite embarrassed.
“It’s fine.” Xiao Gege responded gently.
Before taking the photo, Jiang Mingyue still bowed toward Xiao Gege.
Xiao Gege continued to smile warmly.
After Jiang Mingyue took their picture, she asked Chen Xiangyi to take one with Xiao Gege as well.
One of the event organizers for this carnival was the Goose Factory.
The Goose Factory not only invited many well-known cosplayers of popular heroes from Honor of Kings, but also invited professional players to host a fan tournament.
Jiang Mingyue was quite interested, so she dragged Chen Xiangyi to watch the competition.
The match hadn’t started yet, as the emcee was introducing the rules.
There were four professional players in total.
They were Wuhen and Langyan from the “Fenghuo Team.” and Yunhai and Qingchuan from the “Qingyun Team.”
Each team randomly selected three audience members to compete, and the format was best of three.
The victorious team would win a limited-edition Honor of Kings hero figurine.
To enter the competition, they had to use their phones to participate in a lottery. At once, everyone began to look down at their phones, starting the lottery.
Lu Lin quickly took out his phone to participate, not forgetting to urge Qi Ze beside him.
“Quick, help me with the lottery.”
Qi Ze helplessly took out his phone to help him.
“Brother, I’ll help you too.” said a little girl sitting next to Lu Lin.
Lu Lin looked at her with a proud smile. “Thank you, my cute little sister.”
Lu Lin’s sister, Lin Lu, was in the sixth grade and was quite sharp for her age.
Though young, she loved going to carnivals and had begged her brother and Qi Ze to bring her here for several days.
The lottery had already started, selecting lucky audience members based on the last digits of their phone numbers.
Fenghuo Team had already chosen two audience members, and the emcee spoke again to announce the selection of the third: “Which audience member has the last number 1234?”
Lu Lin didn’t immediately react, standing there in a daze.
It wasn’t until his sister nudged him: “Brother, are they calling you?” that he snapped out of it.
He immediately raised his voice and called out: “Here!”
After saying that, he ran up to the stage.
Jiang Mingyue was looking down at the photos in her camera with Chen Xiangyi when she suddenly heard a voice that seemed a little familiar.
She unconsciously looked toward the source of the sound.
She saw a boy cosplaying as Lan standing up, his appearance handsome and bright.
She thought for a moment but didn’t recognize him.
Maybe she had just heard it wrong.
Just as she turned her head, the boy left his seat and walked toward the stage.
That’s when she saw who was blocked by the boy.
Wasn’t that Qi Ze?
There was also a little girl cosplaying as Cai Yan sitting next to him.
Jiang Mingyue thought for a moment and guessed that the boy who had just gone up must be Lu Lin, and the little girl sitting beside him must be his sister, Lin Lu.
Just as Jiang Mingyue was about to wave at Qi Ze, she suddenly heard the emcee call out her own number’s last digits.
“Next, the first lucky audience member for Qingyun Team, with the last digits 1438, where are you?”
She had randomly entered the lottery and hadn’t expected to be selected.
She hesitated about whether to go up when Chen Xiangyi suddenly grabbed her hand and raised it.
“This one.”
Then she turned to urge her.
“Such a great opportunity to play with professional players, why are you hesitating? Go, go!”
Jiang Mingyue had no choice but to stand up and walk toward the stage.
“Wow, that Xiao Jiejie is so beautiful.”
Lin Lu tugged at Qi Ze’s sleeve and pointed at Jiang Mingyue on the stage.
Qi Ze had already seen her the moment she stood up.
The girl had long purple hair and was wearing a white short skirt, as if she were draped in soft moonlight as she walked up to the stage.
After greeting the emcee, she turned her head directly toward their side.
By chance, her gaze met Qi Ze’s.
A smile appeared on the girl’s lips, one that Qi Ze was familiar with.
Qi Ze’s gaze momentarily froze, his heart seemingly skipping a beat.
Then, he casually lowered his eyes again, as if nothing had happened.
The emcee then drew the next name, a girl dressed in a cute lolita outfit.
Emcee: “Next, we have the final lucky audience member, with the last digits 1469. Where is 1469?”
Qi Ze heard the last digits of his number.
He looked up at the stage.
Jiang Mingyue’s gaze, along with the emcee’s, scanned the audience, curious about who the final lucky person would be.
Qi Ze was almost about to stand up.
But when he thought about Lin Lu beside him, he paused.
He wasn’t entirely at ease with her sitting alone in the audience.
Lin Lu immediately understood his concern.
She crossed her arms, seriously saying: “I’ll be fine on my own. I’ll stay right here and watch the game… If you’re still worried, I’ll sit up front.”
“Look, there’s a seat in the first row.” Lin Lu pointed to a spot on the left side of the front row. “That way, you can easily see me when you look up.”
At that moment, the emcee had already called out the name for the third time. Lin Lu raised her hand for him.
“It’s my brother.”
The emcee immediately turned toward her, first captivated by her cosplay of Cai Wenji.
“Wow, what an adorable Cai Yan. So, which one is your brother?”
Lin Lu pulled Qi Ze to stand up. “This is my brother.”
The emcee was stunned. “Wow, such a handsome young man! Quickly, bring your brother up here.”
“Damn, what luck today… this guy got picked too.”
Lu Lin stared wide-eyed, muttering under his breath: “Looks like this match won’t be easy.”
Wuhen, standing next to him, curiously asked: “Oh? Do you know this handsome guy? Is he really that good?”
Lu Lin nodded. “He’s my friend. I’m not bragging, but his skills are on par with professional players.”
Wuhen raised an eyebrow and smiled. “In that case, this will make the game even more interesting.”
Lin Lu dragged Qi Ze forward.
Qi Ze helplessly allowed her to pull him along.
Today, Qi Ze wore all black—black short sleeves and black pants—which made him look like a perfect piece of white jade.
He exuded a cool aura, appearing both mysterious and lazy.
As he walked forward, he caught the attention of many admiring gazes.
Qi Ze seated Lin Lu in the front row, then stepped up onto the stage, standing at the far edge of the team.
The little girl dressed in a lolita outfit couldn’t help but steal frequent glances at him.
Both teams were now ready, and the emcee stood between them.
“Now that the teams are set, on the left, we have Fenghuo Team—five handsome guys. On the right, we have Qingyun Team—three handsome guys and two beautiful women.”
The crowd cheered loudly.
“Now, we just don’t know how strong the teams are. Without further ado, let’s begin the match!”
