Chapter 18: The Original Owner’s Mother
The crowd screamed and quickly made way.
At that moment, the security personnel at the convention had heard the commotion and rushed over, blocking the man’s path.
Seeing the security, the man immediately changed direction and began running towards the side.
The security personnel quickly spread out to block him.
The man was running around wildly, his face twisted into a perverse grin.
A naked man running through the crowd was indeed quite an eye-sore.
In the end, Lu Lin caught up with him from behind, kicking him in the back. The man immediately fell to the ground in a manner resembling a “dog eating shit.”
Before he could get up, Lu Lin stepped on his back: “You bastard, keep running, you stupid idiot.”
Not feeling satisfied, Lu Lin kicked him a few more times.
Qi Ze picked up the white cloth from the ground and quickly threw it over the man, covering him.
Then the security swarmed in and restrained him.
Two security officers held him down, while another security officer, together with Lu Lin, wrapped him up in the white cloth.
The man struggled while shouting: “Why are you arresting me? This is my new cosplay costume! Let go of me!”
Lu Lin slapped the back of his head: “Why, what do you think, are you the emperor or something?”
The man’s naked body was now tightly wrapped up, like a mummy, with only his head exposed. Jiang Mingyue barely opened her eyes.
Qi Ze no longer paid attention to the man. He walked over to Jiang Mingyue and the gloomy expression on his face faded. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine, just a bit of an eye-sore.”
Then she gently pushed Lin Lu towards him by two steps.
“Here, help me cover her eyes. Don’t let her see the filth. I’m going up to kick that pervert a couple of times.”
Qi Ze paused for a moment before taking Lin Lu. “…Be careful.”
Jiang Mingyue, with a look of fury, walked over and kicked the pervert in the stomach twice. The third kick was stopped by the security.
“Miss, calm down. Don’t beat him up too badly. We don’t want him injured. Let us handle the rest.”
The pervert, after being kicked twice, had the pain fade away, only for a twisted grin to reappear on his face.
“Haha, did you see that? Did you see that? Isn’t it big?”
Lu Lin, standing nearby, was about to beat him again, but Jiang Mingyue stopped him. “It’s fine, I’ll handle this.”
She gave him a contemptuous smile, her eyes filled with sarcasm as she looked him up and down.
“You must never have looked down while peeing, huh? Too insecure to look, are you?
With that tiny toothpick of yours, how dare you show it? Who gave you the courage?
Is it your ignorance?”
The pervert couldn’t smile anymore and glared at her in fury.
“Next time you use the restroom, make sure to look down at yourself. It’ll give you a clearer understanding of your situation. Also, get treatment if you’re sick.”
Someone nearby chuckled, and Lu Lin immediately burst out laughing mercilessly.
To the pervert, their laughter was nothing but pure mockery.
His face turned red with anger, his lips trembling, but he couldn’t utter a word.
Having vented her frustration, Jiang Mingyue paid him no further attention and turned to leave.
The security escorted the man away, and the crowd began to disperse.
The group, with no interest left in continuing their visit, decided to have a meal together and then head home.
Upon entering the house, they were met by a woman in a red dress, her long hair slightly curled, exuding a cold, noble beauty as she sat gracefully on the sofa.
The woman’s face was elegant and regal, holding a phone in one hand while eating cut fruit with a bamboo skewer in the other.
Suddenly, as if reading something amusing, the woman burst into laughter, falling back onto the sofa without a care for her image.
Okay, scratch the part about being regal and elegant.
She laughed so carefree that she didn’t notice Jiang Mingyue approaching.
“This beautiful lady, may I ask who you are?”
Jiang Mingyue walked up to the sofa and asked in a calm voice.
The woman was startled by her, jumping up from the sofa. “Ah, you scared me to death.”
When she clearly saw Jiang Mingyue, the woman froze for a moment before slowly speaking: “Yueyue?”
At that moment, Jiang Mingyue also took a closer look at the woman’s appearance.
She had felt the woman was familiar when she first arrived at the door.
Now, seeing her features clearly, especially those bright peach blossom eyes, Jiang Mingyue realized she had seen a pair of remarkably similar eyes in the mirror every day.
Jiang Mingyue understood who she was now.
The Original Owner’s mother, Yu Beibei.
No wonder she didn’t recognize her. According to the Original Owner’s memories, the last time she saw her mother was three years ago.
Her mother’s appearance had already become blurry in her mind, in her memories.
It seemed that Yu Beibei didn’t recognize Jiang Mingyue either.
Jiang Mingyue didn’t know what to say and wasn’t sure how to respond to this long-lost reunion with her mother.
She nodded and was about to go upstairs.
However, the woman grabbed her arm. “Yueyue, are… are you doing well?”
After speaking, she perhaps realized the awkwardness of her question and let go of Jiang Mingyue’s arm.
Jiang Mingyue thought for a moment, deciding it wasn’t necessary to make the atmosphere tense, so she treated the situation like meeting an acquaintance.
She turned and sat down on the sofa beside her.
“I think I’m doing quite well. I’m healthy, living a good life, and looking pretty.”
“Well, that’s good. That’s good.”
Yu Beibei picked up a cup of water, took a sip, and then put it down again. “You’re looking more and more beautiful. Have you… missed your mother?”
…
The atmosphere became somewhat awkward.
How should she answer this question?
The Original Owner probably missed her, but over the years, she rarely mentioned her parents.
The Original Owner probably had a mix of love, resentment, and grievances toward her parents.
Jiang Mingyue gave a vague answer: “Sometimes I think about it, sometimes I don’t.”
Yu Beibei picked up the cup of water again, and Jiang Mingyue decided to take the initiative to start a conversation.
“What about you? Why did you suddenly come back?”
Yu Beibei put the cup down. “Mom missed you, so I came back to see you.”
“How long will you stay?” Jiang Mingyue asked as she popped a piece of cantaloupe into her mouth.
“…I’ll have to leave the day after tomorrow at the latest.” Yu Beibei paused, then added: “Mom has work, so I can’t stay long.”
Jiang Mingyue nodded to show her understanding.
…
The atmosphere became awkward again.
Yu Beibei tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, her lips moved as if she wanted to say something, but after several attempts, she closed her mouth each time.
Jiang Mingyue didn’t know what to say either, so she stood up again. “I’ll go take a shower and change.”
“Oh, alright, go ahead and relax with a shower.” Yu Beibei said as she stood up and watched her go upstairs.
When she saw the door to Jiang Mingyue’s room close, she collapsed back onto the sofa, letting out a long sigh of relief.
Jiang Mingyue also sighed in relief.
She stripped off her outfit and lay in the bathtub, staring blankly.
Sigh…
After what seemed like the hundredth sigh, 118 could no longer hold back.
【Host, what’s wrong?】
Jiang Mingyue stared blankly at the ceiling, her fingers absentmindedly stirring the foam in the bathtub.
“I just want to ask… where did the Original Owner go?”
118 was silent for a moment before speaking. 【The original Jiang Mingyue is dead. She went to a new world.】
“How did she die? I remember in the novel, she didn’t die?”
【The novel is the novel, but this is a parallel real world, and not everything follows the novel’s plot.
In the real world, the Original Owner, Jiang Mingyue, had an accident the morning you arrived. She hit her head. While it seemed like nothing happened at first, in reality, the brain hemorrhage was already life-threatening.
And then we made a deal with her.】
