Chapter 43: What to Do When the Dog Gets Mad?
Woof woof woof~?
Normally, when I come downstairs in the morning, Xixi can’t wait to jump on me, but today, it seems so disgusted with me?
Jiang Mingyue couldn’t believe it. “Xixi, don’t you love mommy anymore?”
She stretched out one hand, but Xixi didn’t, as usual, place its paws on her. Instead, it was so scared that it took three steps back.
“Haha, what’s wrong with Xixi today? Did you two have a fight?”
Jiang Mingyue turned to ask Haha, who was still watching TV. Haha, in the midst of his busy schedule, gave her a look that suggested she should figure it out herself.
Jiang Mingyue: “…”
Was it because of the way she woke up today?
Not wanting to give up, Jiang Mingyue rushed forward to grab Xixi, but Xixi immediately ran away.
It ran, she chased. It was hard to escape.
In the end, Jiang Mingyue cornered Xixi at the stairs with a quick left and right maneuver and finally caught it.
She held it in her arms.
Xixi struggled violently, kicking its legs. Now, not only its eyes, but its whole face was filled with disgust.
It whimpered.
Aunt Du returned from outside and was greeted with a chaotic scene.
“What’s going on?” Aunt Du put the things she bought back into the fridge. “Feeling better now?”
“Much better.” Jiang Mingyue said. “Today, Xixi is acting like I’m some stranger. I just caught it and was ready to give it a good lesson, so it knows who its mommy is.”
As soon as Aunt Du heard this, she burst out laughing. “It’s because you made it mad.”
“Huh?” Jiang Mingyue looked puzzled. “When did I make it mad? I don’t remember eating its dog food.”
Aunt Du: “Don’t you remember? Last night, you got drunk and threw up all over it.”
Jiang Mingyue was completely confused. She had no memory of this event. Didn’t she fall asleep not long after coming back?
Seeing her blank expression and her complete lack of recollection, Aunt Du decided to explain the events of last night in detail.
“After I made you the hangover soup last night, I saw that you had fallen asleep, so I took Xiao Qi out. When I came back and was about to help you to your bedroom, you woke up in a daze and said you felt like throwing up, so I helped you to the bathroom.
Then, Xixi followed you in. It saw you hunched over the toilet, and it stuck its head over to play, squeezing next to you. At that moment, you weren’t quite aware of what was happening and accidentally threw up all over Xixi. That really scared Xixi, and it panicked, jumping up and running around the bathroom with your vomit all over it, making a huge mess.”
“Aunt Du, you don’t have to go into so much detail.” Jiang Mingyue said, already able to imagine the scene.
She had no memory of this at all and had thought that once she fell asleep, she had slept straight through until morning.
She hadn’t expected something so dramatic to happen.
Jiang Mingyue couldn’t help but feel speechless about her own drinking habits. She decided she should drink less in the future.
Jiang Mingyue slowly lowered her head and made eye contact with Xixi, who was giving her a sideways glance, its eyes saying: “Look what you’ve done.”
Jiang Mingyue buried her head into its soft fur. “Don’t worry, mommy won’t ever dislike you.”
Xixi: “Woof woof woof~” (I dislike you~)
Aunt Du, watching from the side, laughed. “Xixi still has some feelings left. By the way, did you eat the food I left for you this morning?”
“Not yet, I didn’t have much of an appetite.”
Aunt Du asked: “Then should I make something light for lunch? Anything you’re in the mood for?”
“I don’t have anything specific in mind. Anything you make is fine.”
“Alright, I’ll just decide what to make.”
Jiang Mingyue continued to cuddle Xixi on the sofa, determined to make up for the lost affection from last night.
She picked up her phone, intending to send a message to Qi Ze to check on him, when she saw two messages from him.
8:00 AM
Qi Ze: Are you awake?
9:30 AM
Qi Ze: Still not awake?
Jiang Mingyue wrapped her legs around Xixi to stop it from running away and freed up one hand to type.
Where Moonlight Wanes and Weather Shifts: Coming, coming~
Where Moonlight Wanes and Weather Shifts: Good morning.
Qi Ze’s reply came instantly.
Qi Ze: It’s already late, how’s your body feeling after waking up?
Where Moonlight Wanes and Weather Shifts: Then good afternoon~ I’m fine, no discomfort.
Where Moonlight Wanes and Weather Shifts: What are you doing?
Qi Ze: I went swimming for a bit, now I’m resting. What about you?
Where Moonlight Wanes and Weather Shifts: I’m bonding with the dog. I upset Xixi, and now it doesn’t want to talk to me. So sad~
Qi Ze: How did you upset it?
Where Moonlight Wanes and Weather Shifts: …I can’t tell you, it’ll ruin the perfect image you have of me.
Qi Ze: “…”
Qi Ze: This afternoon, Lu Lin is organizing a BBQ party. Do you want to join? You can bring the dog along; it’ll be a good chance for them to relax too.
Where Moonlight Wanes and Weather Shifts: Fun, what time is the party?
Qi Ze: Around 4:30. I’ll come pick you up then.
Where Moonlight Wanes and Weather Shifts: No need, just send me the address and I’ll get there on my own~
Qi Ze: Alright, just let me know when you’re on your way.
Where Moonlight Wanes and Weather Shifts: OKKKK~
Qi Ze was about to reply with an “OK” but paused as he looked at Jiang Mingyue’s message. In the end, he deleted the “OK” and typed “OOOOK” before sending it.

“Sister Mingyue, long time no see.”
As soon as Jiang Mingyue entered, Lin Lu ran over to greet her.
“Long time no see, Xiao Lin Lu. I thought after such a long time, you’d have forgotten about me.”
“I wouldn’t forget, pretty sister. Not a chance.” Lin Lu said sweetly. “Sister, can I pet the dog?”
“Of course.”
There was a fence here, and since Xixi and Haha didn’t bite, Jiang Mingyue took off the leash and let them run freely.
“Sister Mingyue, you’re finally here.” Lu Lin walked out of the house holding a tray of ingredients. “If you hadn’t come soon, Qi Ze would have stared at his phone until it broke. He kept looking at it again and again… Hey, Qi Ze, what are you doing? Are you mad now?”
Qi Ze also brought out a plate of ingredients, and upon hearing Lu Lin’s words, kicked him in the backside.
Jiang Mingyue couldn’t help but feel a bit smug, secretly winking at Qi Ze.
There was another girl present, and soon three more guys and one more girl arrived. Lu Lin had a lot of friends, and the people he hung out with were all quite nice.
Everyone was having a lively time grilling and playing.
To Jiang Mingyue’s surprise, Qi Ze was actually really good at grilling meat, and it tasted especially delicious. She and Lin Lu just sat beside each other, focused on eating.
Lu Lin reached for a skewer of grilled meat placed nearby, but it was swatted away with a slap.
Lu Lin, looking aggrieved, said: “Come on, bro, even though I’m not first in your heart right now, you’re not going to deny me a skewer of meat, right?”
“That’s for the dogs.”
Lu Lin couldn’t believe it. “Bro, am I really not even worth as much as the dog in your heart?”
Qi Ze handed him a plate of freshly grilled meat. “The dog’s doesn’t have any seasoning. If you want it, I won’t stop you.”
Lu Lin immediately beamed with joy. “In that case, I’ll leave it to the dogs.”
Just as Lu Lin walked away, a girl approached and first asked Qi Ze if he needed any help. After receiving a negative reply, she hesitated for a moment before gathering the courage to ask: “Could we add each other on WeChat?”
Qi Ze looked up and handed her a plate of grilled skewers, saying indifferently: “Sorry.”
The girl’s face turned slightly red from the rejection, but she still took the plate of grilled meat and softly said: “It’s alright, thank you.”
Then she left.
Jiang Mingyue, who was pretending to drink a beverage but actually secretly watching, put down her empty cup.
