Chapter 9: The Great Battle with the Dog Thieves
When Jiang Mingyue arrived, she saw Qi Ze kicking a person to the ground.
The Samoyed was also lying on the ground, whining and crying in pain, as if it had been hurt.
Then, someone nearby brought over a large burlap sack.
“Be careful!”
Qi Ze swiftly dodged, then grabbed the person’s hand, kicking them in the leg. The person immediately fell to the ground.
Qi Ze took the opportunity to snatch the sack away and placed it aside.
The contents of the sack shifted slightly, and Jiang Mingyue then realized that it contained a dog.
With everything pieced together, Jiang Mingyue finally understood.
Good grief, it turned out to be dog thieves!
The two people climbed up from the ground, one tall and one short, and lunged toward Qi Ze.
Jiang Mingyue had intended to help, but seeing that Qi Ze was handling it with ease, she refrained from rushing in.
She quickly took out her phone and called the police.
By the time she finished reporting, she turned back to see the two thieves knocked down again, rolling on the ground in pain.
Qi Ze’s face was cold and grim as he stomped heavily on the stomach of the taller thief. The man immediately let out a painful whimper, grabbing Qi Ze’s foot with both hands, trying to move it, but he couldn’t budge it an inch.
Then, Qi Ze stomped on the thief’s other leg, looking down at him, and slowly spoke: “Which foot did you use to kick earlier? This one? Or…” He raised his foot and stomped on the other leg. “How about this one?”
A cold smirk appeared on Qi Ze’s lips, and although he seemed to be smiling, his eyes were icy, giving off an extremely dangerous vibe.
Jiang Mingyue stood frozen in place.
Suddenly, the sharp sound of an alarm rang in her mind, and the urgent voice of 118 echoed:
【Warning, warning, the target’s emotional state is fluctuating abnormally, with an increase in courruption value. Host, please take immediate action.】
Jiang Mingyue snapped back to her senses. She looked around and saw the Samoyed on the ground, suddenly realizing that its current condition might be a result of Qi Ze recalling unpleasant memories from his childhood.
So, Jiang Mingyue picked up the Samoyed and walked up to Qi Ze, gently speaking: “Qi Ze, look.”
Qi Ze looked up and met two pairs of bright, shining eyes.
“The little dog is fine.” Jiang Mingyue said, shaking the Samoyed’s paw at him.
The Samoyed seemed to understand her intent, raising its head and barking twice at Qi Ze.
Qi Ze didn’t speak, but his gaze slowly softened, returning to his usual calm demeanor.
Jiang Mingyue gently set the dog down. “Let’s tie them up first. The police will be here soon.”
Hearing that the police were coming, the two thieves immediately struggled to escape. She quickly pinned the shorter one down.
A black van was parked on the road next to the park. Through the slightly opened window, iron cages could be seen stacked in the back of the vehicle.
Wang Mazi was sitting inside, acting as a lookout, waiting for Zhang San and Li Si to enter the park and catch the dogs. He heard a few dog barks and thought the operation had been successful, but no one came out.
He got out of the van to check and, from a distance, saw Zhang San and Li Si lying on the ground. Immediately, he turned around, pulled out a wooden stick from under the seat, and quietly entered the park.
Qi Ze was just pulling the belt off the man under his feet, preparing to tie his hands, when suddenly, a person—a fat man—popped out from behind, charging at Qi Ze with a wooden stick in hand.
Qi Ze turned to defend himself, but the person beneath him suddenly grabbed onto his legs, preventing him from breaking free.
Just as the wooden stick was about to land, a blue figure suddenly stepped in front.
Jiang Mingyue, without a second thought, rushed forward to stand in front of Qi Ze and swung her camera at the fat man.
The fat man’s strength was too much; the camera was knocked out of her hands, and the wooden stick hit her shoulder.
“Ah—”
She cried out in pain but did not step back. As the fat man prepared to strike again, she kicked him in the groin.
Seeing the wooden stick about to fall once more, Qi Ze finally managed to free himself. One arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her to the side, while his other hand grabbed the wooden stick. Then, he kicked the fat man away.
The shorter thief, now on the ground, scrambled to get up and run. Qi Ze threw the wooden stick at him, knocking him down.
Qi Ze was incredibly strong; it felt as if her waist might break from the force of his grip.
She quickly patted his arm, signaling that he could let go.
Qi Ze immediately withdrew his hand, a hint of awkwardness flashing across his face.
At that moment, the police arrived, handcuffing the three thieves and rescuing the little dogs.
Jiang Mingyue picked up her camera and looked at it. The display screen was shattered, and the lens was cracked.
She sighed: “I just bought this today, and it’s already ruined.”
Qi Ze glanced at it. “I’ll buy you a new one.”
Jiang Mingyue waved her hand. “No need, it’s not your fault. Just consider it a small loss. Fortunately, the memory card is fine.”
Afterward, the two of them got into the police car.
“Hiss—”
As she relaxed, Jiang Mingyue once again felt the pain in her shoulder and reached up to rub it.
Qi Ze watched her grimace in pain, bit his lip, and muttered: “With your lousy skills, you still dared to stand in front of me, practically begging to get hit.”
Jiang Mingyue retorted stubbornly: “Stop talking nonsense. I clearly have two legs, not three.”
“…”
She didn’t pay much attention to the pain in her shoulder but was more concerned about the Samoyed lying on Qi Ze’s lap. It looked lethargic, its eyelids drooping. “Is it okay?”
She turned to ask the police officer in the front seat: “Can we go to the pet hospital first? The little dog’s hurt.”
The female police officer in the front seat glanced at the rearview mirror and reassured her: “Don’t worry, the police station has already called a veterinarian who is waiting. As soon as we get back, the dog will get checked out. We’ll also take a look at your shoulder.”
“Ah… Am I going to the vet with the dog?” Jiang Mingyue blurted out.
“…”
The police officer paused for a moment, about to speak when Jiang Mingyue added: “Well, it’s fine. After all, I’m a two-legged cat, hehe.”
Qi Ze: “…”
There was definitely something wrong with her head.
The police officer chuckled. “Don’t worry, the police station has a dedicated medical room.”
Then, the tone shifted slightly, becoming more serious. “You two are quite brave, facing off against those people head-on. Aren’t you worried about the danger?”
Qi Ze, still holding the dog, looked out the window and didn’t respond.
Jiang Mingyue replied: “At that moment, I was just so caught up in the heat of the moment. Plus, my classmate is really strong. He subdued the criminals in no time.”
The police officer shook his head. “You two are still students. You shouldn’t be so impulsive in the future.”
“Mm, we know.” Jiang Mingyue replied.
The doctor checked her shoulder. It wasn’t anything serious—just some redness and swelling. A few days of ointment would heal it.
As for the dogs that were caught, there were over ten of them. They had all been injected with sleeping medicine, but once the effects wore off, they would be fine.
Most of the dogs had owners, and the police station had already contacted their owners, so they would be picked up soon.
Finally, only the Samoyed and its friend were left.
The Samoyed had been kicked and suffered a minor injury. It needed to rest for a few days.
Its friend, a stray Husky, was about one or two years old. Not only had it been injected with sleeping medicine, but it was also sick and needed to be hospitalized for treatment.
“Can I adopt this Husky?” Jiang Mingyue gently stroked the Husky’s frail body.
The female police officer said: “Of course, you can. It’s a stray, and it would be great if you want to adopt it.”
So, after giving their statements, the two of them left the police station with the Samoyed and the Husky.
