Chapter 15: Bed Pounce Kiss
Grandfather Lu immediately spoke up to calm the situation. “Hanchuan, let go! That Jiang girl didn’t really hurt Little Su. Listen to Grandpa, let go!”
Old Master Jiang’s voice followed right after. “Hanchuan, it’s the Jiang family that owes you. You can’t throw away your whole life just because of that wretched girl!”
Mother Lu’s voice choked with emotion as she pleaded: “Xiao Chuan, be good, let go.”
Father Lu even stepped forward directly, reaching out to pry Lu Hanchuan’s large hand off Jiang Keke’s neck.
But Lu Hanchuan acted as if he heard nothing at all. His eyes were bloodshot as he continued to grip Jiang Keke’s neck tightly with no sign of loosening.
By now, Jiang Keke’s face had turned a deep, terrifying red from the lack of oxygen.
Just when everyone was panicking, fearing the worst, a delicate little hand reached out gently and wrapped around two of Lu Hanchuan’s fingers.
It gave a small shake, and a soft, sticky-sweet voice followed: “Lu Hanchuan, don’t be like this. I’m scared.”
The volume wasn’t loud, but it was enough to instantly dispel the murderous aura enveloping Lu Hanchuan.
He suddenly pulled back the hand that had been choking Jiang Keke, then swiftly turned around and tightly embraced Su Zhiyi.
He raised his hand and gently patted her slender back.
His voice turned tender, so soft and soothing it barely resembled the man from moments before. “Be good. Zhizhi, don’t be afraid. It’s my fault. I lost control of my emotions and scared you.”
Hearing this, Su Zhiyi finally felt relieved. Her voice was gentle as she said: “It’s okay. I don’t blame you. I know this is a stress reaction from just coming off the battlefield.
But you can’t do that again. The way you looked just now… it was really scary.”
“Alright.” Lu Hanchuan responded softly, holding the little girl in his arms.
And so, Grandfather Lu’s birthday banquet came to an end with Jiang Keke being forever banned from stepping into the Lu family home again.
After this incident, everyone in the Lu family came to understand very clearly—never provoke Su Zhiyi. If anyone dared to cross her, the fury of Lu Hanchuan was not something they could withstand.
Two days later, Su Zhiyi overheard Mother Lu saying that Old Master Jiang had sent Jiang Keke abroad and issued a strict order forbidding her from returning to Yuncheng.
Lu Hanchuan looked at his former bedroom with great disgust. “Mom, lock that room up. Let Zhizhi move into another room.”
Mother Lu immediately nodded and agreed: “Alright, I’ll go with Nanny Sun right now and get another room ready for Zhizhi.”
At that moment, Su Zhiyi also had an expression of full agreement on her face, nodding her head eagerly like a little pecking chick.
Seeing her cute little expression, Lu Hanchuan couldn’t help but shake his head with a laugh. “Stop nodding. Aren’t you afraid you’ll nod yourself dizzy?”
Hearing that, Su Zhiyi stuck out her little pink tongue playfully, looking at him adorably.
Her brows curved as she grinned: “Got it!”
Watching the soft pink tongue in her mouth, Lu Hanchuan quickly turned his head away and let out a heavy breath.
What an adorably clueless little girl.
After that incident, the relationship between Lu Hanchuan and Su Zhiyi had unknowingly grown closer.
The desire in Lu Hanchuan’s heart to keep her by his side only deepened.
One stormy night, Su Zhiyi sat upright in her bed, listening to the booming thunder and the downpour outside the window. She felt uneasy. After thinking for a moment, she resolutely got up and walked out of her room.
Just as she approached Lu Hanchuan’s door, she heard his low, pained groans from inside.
Her heart tightened, and she hurried forward, pushing open the door without hesitation.
Fortunately, Lu Hanchuan hadn’t locked it.
The moment she stepped into the room, she saw him sitting on the floor, drenched in sweat from the pain.
Then, spotting the water cup near his hand, Su Zhiyi immediately understood—he must have just gone to get himself some water, which explained why the door hadn’t been locked.
At that moment, Lu Hanchuan looked up and saw Su Zhiyi standing before him, her face filled with deep concern.
His voice was hoarse. “Zhizhi, why are you here?”
Seeing the pain-stricken pallor on his face, Su Zhiyi’s heart ached. She quickly ran to his side and knelt down, gently supporting his arm. “Of course I came because I heard you were in pain. Don’t talk now—let’s get you onto the bed first.”
With that, she applied force to her hands, and Lu Hanchuan cooperated with her strength to stand up.
Then he saw her seemingly conjure a cup of water out of thin air.
Though he already knew her little secret, witnessing it with his own eyes still left him a bit stunned.
Su Zhiyi handed him the cup. “Drink this. Your leg will feel better after.”
Lu Hanchuan obediently drank it all.
Afterward, he reminded her: “Zhizhi, you must never do this in front of others, understand?”
“Mm, I know, Brother Lu. Don’t worry.”
She then helped him toward the bed.
Just as they were about to sit down, Su Zhiyi accidentally tripped and her body fell to the side.
Lu Hanchuan reacted quickly and pulled her into his arms.
Because of the momentum, both of them fell straight onto the bed. Lu Hanchuan held her tightly in his embrace, protecting her.
And as they landed, their lips accidentally touched.
Both of them froze, their eyes wide with surprise. Yet neither turned away immediately.
The temperature in the room began to rise. Lu Hanchuan’s body started to heat up, and Su Zhiyi’s heart pounded like a drum.
No one knew how much time passed.
Finally, Lu Hanchuan, holding onto the last thread of his self-control, abruptly lifted his head and pulled away from her lips.
But he didn’t move away from her completely. Instead, he stayed right where he was, eyes slightly reddened, gazing tenderly at the girl he loved deeply.
Su Zhiyi gazed into his deep, dark eyes, as if being slowly drawn into them.
Just then, Lu Hanchuan reached out and gently caressed her delicate cheek.
His Adam’s apple bobbed. He wanted so badly to ask her—was she staying by his side only to repay him for saving Su Junyi’s life?
But he didn’t dare voice the question. What if it were true? What would he do then? He would truly lose his mind.
Suddenly, he sat up straight.
Su Zhiyi noticed he seemed like he had something he wanted to ask, but in the end, he said nothing.
She had no idea what he had wanted to say, so she chose to remain silent as well.
Seeing that Lu Hanchuan was ignoring her, she pouted a little.
Then, as sleepiness crept up on her again, she grew worried about leaving him alone in his room.
She thought, if the pain returned, she could just give him another glass of space water right away.
So her little head tilted, and she finally gave in to sleep.
When Lu Hanchuan finally managed to suppress the heat and restlessness inside him, he turned around—
Only to see Su Zhiyi sleeping soundly, completely defenseless.
He couldn’t help but let out a helpless laugh. Reaching out, he gently pinched her little cheek. “You really have a big heart, little girl!”
With those words, he withdrew his hand.
His gaze softened with affection as he looked down at her.
The next morning, Su Zhiyi woke up—as expected—on Lu Hanchuan’s bed.
At that very moment, Mother Lu’s confused voice echoed from the living room.
“Eh? Where’s Zhizhi? It’s early—where did that child run off to?”
She had gone to call Su Zhiyi for breakfast, only to find her room empty.
After searching the house and still not finding her, she grew anxious.
Nanny Sun’s voice followed, just as puzzled. “No idea. I haven’t seen Little Su either.”
Just then, a soft cough came from nearby, slightly awkward.
Then Lu Hanchuan’s low voice rang out: “Mom, Nanny Sun, you don’t have to worry. Zhizhi is in my room. She’s still asleep…”
“What?!” Mother Lu exclaimed in disbelief.
Lu Hanchuan had no choice but to repeat himself. “Zhizhi is in my room. She hasn’t woken up yet.”
“Hahaha! You rascal! You’ve finally figured it out!” Mother Lu burst into laughter, face full of glee. But then a thought crossed her mind, and her expression changed sharply.
“Wait a minute! You little brat—you better not have done anything inappropriate, you hear me?!”
Hearing that, Lu Hanchuan immediately understood that Mother Lu had misunderstood.
