The Duke’s Daughter is Involved in Magical Technology
The Duke’s Daughter is Involved in Magical Technology Chapter 32.2

Upon hearing about the shared lifespan effect of the contract, Aaron found himself at a loss for words, ending his thoughts with a string of ellipses.

Furrowing his brow, he turned to Aresia with a perplexed look. “Miss Aresia, did we forget to inform the Duke about this?”

Upon hearing his query, Aresia tried to recollect but wasn’t entirely sure if they had.

This crucial matter should have been documented in their notebooks—maybe a copy was sent to her father?

A quick perusal of her magical notes revealed a glaring oversight—she had indeed forgotten to include this detail!

Or perhaps, the magical notebook failed to record this particular section.

Soon, Aresia understood the problem. The content transcribed into her notebook was extracted from her memory, mainly focusing on lighter subjects of study. The contract’s specific details and effects, including the shared lifespan, were only comprehensively researched and documented by the age of one hundred and eighty and further improved by the age of two hundred. The information gap spanned nearly a hundred and sixty years.

Interestingly, although the notebook contained records of this aspect, the effect was curiously misplaced.

Realizing her mistake, Aresia glanced at the steward, unsure if he had already realized the issue.

However, he was still preoccupied with his Arachnes companion, seemingly acknowledging something odd but didn’t remind her. “Aresia, shouldn’t you recopy the missed section and deliver it to the Duke?”

Yes, it was a missed section, not documented in the notebook!

Aresia coughed softly and took out paper and pen. “I’ll copy it right away.”

As the carriage continued to sway, Aresia pretended to transcribe from her magical notebook, although she was actually recalling the omitted content and making modifications to exclude inappropriate details, to finally create an acceptable written record.

The missing information wasn’t overly extensive. By the time the carriage reached the Gryphon Legion, this revised information would be ready.

The Duke was unaware of Aresia’s current visit to the Legion, and no one had been sent to welcome her. In reality, it was Aresia’s first time visiting the Gryphon Legion.

The soldiers at the Legion’s gate didn’t recognize Aresia. If she wished to enter, it was best to have someone announce her arrival.

The soldiers were familiar with the Duke’s carriage, particularly the driver who frequently delivered items to the Duke’s estate. Some soldiers recognized him, allowing him to pass without a search.

Upon arrival, Aresia order steward Aaron to conceal the Arachnes Spider in his pocket to ensure that the spider’s presence do not stir some commotion.

The Gryphon Legion stationed outside Holy Lotean City, and while all five legions had a duty to guard the city in turns, except for the Imperial Legion, the other four were stationed in the boundary. Their primary responsibilities included guarding the outer walls, patrolling the surrounding forests to ward off beasts.

The protection within Holy Lotean City, especially around the palace, fell under the Imperial Legion’s responsibility. The Emperor never entrusted his safety to others, having his personal guard. The Legion had a significant force of eighty thousand, including the Gryphon Legion and others, maintaining a standard thirty thousand.

Contrary to assumptions, not all members of the Gryphon Legion were knights; less than half were. The remaining were classified as infantry. However, the unique aspect of the Gryphon Legion was that its regular troops worked alongside the knights, numbering about thirty thousand. Additionally, there were nearly twenty thousand irregular soldiers known as squires. They functioned as companions to the knights, learning their ways and aiding them. When a squire served in the Legion, they received infantry training and were actively involved in patrols and battles.

Normally, each knight enlisted a squire, making a one-to-one ratio in each legion. The Gryphon Legion, without increasing its regular troop count, had a shortfall of approximately ten thousand irregular soldiers. The other legions were typically at full capacity, but the Gryphon Legion’s treatment was comparable, if not better, due to the Duke’s provision. They received a monthly stipend, though not substantial, unlike the regular soldiers. Moreover, their accommodation and meals were covered by the Legion, along with rewards for battling beasts.

Although not as lavish as nobles’ residences, the living conditions were slightly inferior to regular soldiers but significantly better than commoners. Aresia even found herself in an establishment resembling a general store, able to purchase everyday items.

The Legion’s numbers had decreased due to the Duke’s assignment to hunt down beasts.

Fortunately, a significant portion of the Legion, including the deputy legion commander, was dispatched to hunt magical beasts. This allowed the Duke, the Legion Commander, to remain in the city. Aresia successfully met him.

When the Duke received the documents handed over by Aresia, his expression mirrored that of the steward, showing no surprise. He calmly accepted Aresia’s explanation that some content was in her notebook, thus not included in the written document.

In reality, both the Duke and the steward sensed the tremendous change in Aresia. The magical effects added to her presence deterred them from probing further. Additionally, with the intuition of a seventh-level adept and the examination conducted by Deiman the priest, the Duke was confident that his daughter hadn’t been replaced. The change might have a reason, but to him, it was still Aresia, his daughter, and the secrecy surrounding her transformation was less critical.

On this point, the Duke even speculated that the magical notebook might be the cause. Magic books were known to be peculiar, and the contents of this notebook were extraordinary. The Duke suspected that Aresia received the notebook as a gift from its mysterious owner.

He didn’t know that it was Aresia’s soul influencing his judgment, leading him to connect the dots in that direction.

He calmly told Aresia, “I’ll handle the documents. Amos is currently at the camp. You can find him there.”

Before Aresia left, he hesitated and called her back, “What gift did you bring for him?”

Aresia presented the magical hoverboard, saying, “It’s a hoverboard I made for him, for convenient travel.”

The appearance of Amos’s hoverboard was similar to the other two, but Aresia had made a few adjustments considering his size. Unlike the typical hoverboards, which limited speed and height, this one could reach ten meters in height and match the speed of cavalry. Comparatively, Karina’s flying board resembled a children’s toy, while Amos’s version resembled an extreme sports version.

After hearing the introduction, the Duke had a headache. “Does anyone know about this thing?”

Aresia realized she might have made a mistake. “I made one for myself and gave one to Karina. The academy probably noticed.”

The Duke, suspecting that Aresia’s soul might be damaged, affecting her judgment, memory, and even her basic personality, found himself entangled in unnecessary trouble.

Aresia decided to increase the dosage of the soul magic medicine to expedite her recovery. She also planned to conduct a more detailed examination of her damaged soul.

Initially, the Duke want to collect the hoverboard, thinking it need to be kept as a secret. But for now, he instructed Aresia to find Amos and deliver the gift, asking her to return afterward.

He pondered on how to handle this matter.

This is funny as hell. But understandable. She can’t remember everything least of all, “hey you’re gonna live an average lifespan between your familiar so hopefully it’s not 200 + years or whatever”
