Ignoring this matter, Aresia handed the promised magic book to Wendy. “Finish reading this book first before giving it back to me. I’ll borrow it afterwards.”
The library allowed borrowing several books at once, and each book had a one-month borrowing period. Lending a book to Wendy didn’t affect Aresia’s ability to borrow other books. Even though she was busy collecting space stones, Aresia was also busy making a space ring. She didn’t have much time for reading.
Wendy borrowed the book and thanked Aresia, “Thanks, it’s a bit troublesome for you to go back and forth.”
“No problem.”
After Aresia finished speaking, she prepared to leave.
However, Wendy called her back, “Chief Rogest.”
Aresia stopped, “Hmm? Is there something you need to tell me, Miss Wendy?”
“Please wait a moment.” Wendy quickly returned to her seat, picked up a book from her desk, and walked back to hand it to Aresia. “This book is a magic book that I borrowed from the Imperial Library. I thought you might be interested.”
Aresia glanced at the cover and saw that it was a book related to the research Wendy was doing. It was indeed something she was interested in.
Moreover, the books from the Imperial Library were only available for borrowing by those affiliated with the court. Others didn’t have the qualifications. This book seemed to be a rare find, and Aresia was genuinely interested.
She accepted it. “Since it’s a book from the Imperial Library, I won’t refuse. Thank you, Miss Wendy.”
After thanking Wendy, Aresia didn’t wait for her to say anything else. She nodded in her direction and turned to leave.
It was confirmed that Wendy was indeed approaching her, but Aresia didn’t know the reason.
Aresia was very cautious. When the Duke sent her letters, she was repeatedly reminded not to cause any trouble and not to attract the attention of the Imperial family.
As for Wendy, who had connections to the Imperial family, Aresia preferred to keep her distance.
Moreover, she already had a lot to do and didn’t have time to entertain anyone with unknown intentions.
In addition, Aresia was truly busy. The space ring she was making had already reached an advanced stage. The step of incorporating space stones to expand the space seemed simple to hear, but it was actually quite difficult. This project required her full attention and several days to complete. After the space ring was finished, she would have enough space to allow the production line for the Octopus Mechanical Arm and the Magic Hoverboard to resume. No one had any idea it could accommodate so many things.
Furthermore, she still had to prepare the materials for Amos’ magic wand. After the end of the month, she planned to pack everything and get it delivered to the Duke. She had a lot to do before then.
Because of this, she declined the regular training of the trial team and pushed it aside.
Aresia immersed herself in the laboratory. She greeted Karina and took a few days off—just like before, she focused on her work in the lab. She decided to use all her spare time before the final exams arrived.
Since she’s in the lab, she didn’t need to worry about socializing with others.
Aresia also planned to prepare a beast space for Amos, since Amos always carry his beast companion everywhere he goes. She also has the materials at hand, so it made it easy for her to start.
When Aresia came back to her senses, the final exam is nearing.
Originally, the first- year freshmen should have 10 written exams and two (basic magic and potions) practical exams. However, because there are student trials, this practical practice of basic magic exam was cancelled, and the time for the written test was also moved forward, and there was a three -day break after the end, allowing students enough time to prepare for the end trial exam.
Because the school has a limited number of teachers responsible for maintaining the trial venue, the five yearlevel student trials are conducted at different times, and the venues for their trials are also differen.
In the last class before the trial exam began, Headmaster Alvin deliberately held a class meeting to explain the rules for the trial exam.
“Before taking the trial, you will randomly select a task, perhaps to find a certain kind of magic plant, or to hunt a specific magical beast.”
“The trial exam will begin at 7 in the morning and will at at exactly 7 in the evening, a total of twelve hours.”
During this time period, your group needs to complete the task in the given time.
“Returning with the items task before the given time is considered a pass, and the faster they return, the higher the bonus points they receive, although these points are limited.”
“Furthermore, the more valuable items they bring back, the higher the points they earn, and the higher their final ranking will be. For those who aim for high scores, it is worth considering searching for magic plants or capturing specific beasts.”
At this point, Headmaster Alvin’s gaze lingered on several outstanding students in the class, finally settling on Aresia for a while.
He was quite surprised that Aresia continue to hold onto her position as the top student.
In the previous years, it wasn’t uncommon for new students who had maintained the top position in the monthly exams to perform poorly in the final trial, resulting in the loss of their top position. In some cases, even students from other class who performed well in the trial surpassed them. In the end, only those who achieved the top position in the trial, regardless of their performance in the written exams, were truly considered the top students. The written exams only played a supporting role, and the trial results accounted for seventy percent of the final grade, with the remaining thirty percent from other exams.
Headmaster Alvin explained the specific details and handed out two forms to everyone.
Aresia received one of the forms. One contained the rules for the trial that Headmaster Alvin had just explained, while the other listed the items they needed to prepare for the trial and the items they were not allowed to bring. They couldn’t bring equipment, weapons, or potions, and they weren’t allowed to bring food or water either. They had to find those during the trial.
Additionally, they couldn’t bring magic scrolls or magical tools. If anyone was caught using them, it would result in a deduction of points.
“What? We can’t even bring food and water? What are we going to eat?”
“Idiot, we’ll find food during the trial. That’s part of the adventure. Isn’t that how adventurers do it in the wilderness?”
Headmaster Alvin turned to the complaining students. “If you have a space tool, you can bring those things, but it’s absolutely forbidden to use them for eating.”
His attention shifted to Aresia.
Space tools were extremely valuable and rare. It was uncertain whether their parents even owned one, let alone prepared it for them.
Unbeknownst to them, Aresia had a space tool and often used it when necessary. Headmaster Alvin’s words were clearly directed at her.
Alvin continued to advise them, “If someone catches you violating the rules during the trial, there will be mages’ eyes surveilling your every move. Any violation will not escape the eyes of the invigilating teachers.”
Mages’ eyes were a common magic used by mages to monitor with their magic. This magic took the form of a sinister eyeball and transmitted images within a certain range back to the caster’s eyes. It was similar to a surveillance camera, but mages’ eyes were not fixed in one direction. They could follow the target’s movements within a certain range, as long as the caster was within a reasonable distance.
Hearing that there were mages’ eyes all over the trial grounds, the students who had been calculating something were left frustrated. They reluctantly put away their plans and focused on the items listed on the forms to ensure they didn’t make any mistakes that would result in point deductions.
