However, Karina and Jorgus trusted their teachers, and with Jorgus holding the position of chief among the juniors, things seemed a bit more stable. The teachers might have their biases, but they didn’t openly show it.
Aresia, on the other hand, was not so relaxed. Who knows if some of the teachers had been bribed?
When they asked, Alvin told them his plan: “Tomorrow morning, the school will have a speech in the auditorium for the end of the semester. After that, I’ll talk directly to the Headmaster about this.”
With Headmaster Albert’s involvement, they had more assurance than if regular teachers were investigating.
Jorgus didn’t object to involving the Headmaster and nodded in agreement, “Alright, we’ll trouble you with that.”
When they returned to the school, it was already late. Aresia didn’t want to bother anymore and decided to rest in the dormitory.
The next morning, they were supposed to gather in their classes first, then head to the auditorium.
During the class gathering, Alvin informed them that after the speech in the auditorium, they would return to their classes for further discussion.
Upon hearing this arrangement, they knew it was unlikely they would be able to return in the morning. A wave of complaints and frustration spread among the students.
Alvin coldly glared at them, waiting until the noise died down before knocking on the table. “Quiet! Someone is organizing the queue. Let’s go to the auditorium.”
Aresia was in the queue when Alvin called her and asked her to come forward. He had something to tell her.
Approaching Alvin, she saw him holding a piece of paper. He handed it to her discreetly and whispered, “These are the names of the members of the team from yesterday. Take a look.”
“Thank you, Sir Alvin.”
Aresia briefly asked how he obtained the list, then discreetly placed it in her pocket, planning to look at it later when they had more privacy.
Alvin waved her off, saying, “You’re welcome. As a teacher, it’s my duty to help when my students are being bullied. Actually, this list was obtained through official means. The performance report from yesterday has a cryptic note regarding the deduction of points. It’s subtle, but it should catch their attention.”
He added, “Don’t worry, the school is not tolerating their behavior. The deductions were significant, and their performance this time is a direct failure.”
Aresia was startled. Although there was some information on the performance report regarding other teams, it was difficult to read due to the crowdedness and the number of people checking their scores. She hadn’t paid much attention to the scores of other teams.
Aresia accepted the list and nodded, planning to discuss it with the Headmaster later. She thanked Alvin and returned to the team, where Karina was waiting.
Karina asked eagerly, “What did the teacher want?”
Aresia shook the piece of paper in her hand and replied, “He gave me a list of the team members from yesterday.”
Karina’s eyes lit up, “Did the teacher help us investigate?”
Aresia glanced at the note and saw that besides the names of the team members, there was also their affiliated class. It seemed that they were conducting an investigation.
Once they arrived at the auditorium, Aresia spotted Jorgus sitting in the warrior department’s section. He was in the same seat as before, just a short distance away. Aresia discreetly handed Jorgus a note and whispered softly, “This is the list of yesterday’s team members. Take a look.”
“Thank you, Aresia.”
Aresia received a satisfactory response and smiled slightly as she looked around at the people. She sat back in her seat.
Just as she sat down, Karina leaned in excitedly from the side, “Did you ask Jorgus to find them?”
Aresia smiled at her and replied, “Yes, they will do it in due time. We will wait for him to seek revenge for us.”
Karina immediately understood and clenched her fist in excitement, “After what they did, they won’t dare to do such things again. Those people are really bad, they deserve to be punished.”
“The school has already punished them. They failed this trial and will face make-up exams and other consequences. Jorgus will stay at the school and ‘teach’ them a lesson. They should know what to do and what not to do.”
Although their behavior wasn’t severe enough to warrant serious punishment, the school had punished them to some extent. However, these few individuals had caught the attention of the teachers. If similar incidents happened again, the punishment wouldn’t be as lenient as failing the trial.
Soon, Headmaster Albert began his speech in the auditorium. Everyone quieted down and listened, regardless of whether they were actually paying attention or not. No one dared to cause trouble in the presence of high-ranking mage.
Aresia tried to listen attentively, but her thoughts drifted away. It wasn’t until the end of the Headmaster’s speech, when he announced the dismissal, that she snapped back to reality. She stood up and whispered to Karina, quickening her pace to catch up with Headmaster Albert.
” Headmaster!”
Headmaster Albert stopped in his tracks and turned around when he saw Aresia, a hint of surprise in his eyes.
“Do you need something from me?”
“Hello teachers…”
Aresia politely greeted the other teachers, then turned to Headmaster Albert, saying, “I have something important to discuss with you. Shall we talk in your office?”
“Of course, my dear. Follow me.”
Headmaster Albert said goodbye to the other teachers and led Aresia to his office. On the way, he made a lighthearted comment, “Do let me know when those magical flying boards are available for purchase. I must buy one so that I don’t have to climb stairs anymore. It’s exhausting for us old folks.”
Aresia replied with a smile, “If they become available, I will make sure someone delivers one to you right away.”
Headmaster Albert accepted her offer with a gracious smile.
Once they reached the Headmaster’s office and sat down, Aresia handed him two slips of paper she had drawn during the lottery.
“What are these?”
Aresia explained, “These are the slips we drew for the mission yesterday. Headmaster, our team’s mission was tampered with magic. When I drew the slip, I felt a surge of magical energy from the mission box. These one slips fell from above the mission box.”
Upon hearing this, Headmaster Albert’s expression became serious. He examined the slips carefully while asking, “Please explain in detail.”
Aresia continued, “Yesterday, when I drew a slip from the mission box, I sensed something was wrong. It seems that someone tampered with the box. I suspect foul play.”
Headmaster Albert carefully examined the slips of paper in his hand and nodded, saying, “Please look into this matter further.”
Aresia gratefully accepted the slips and replied, “Certainly, Headmaster. I will investigate and report back to you. Thank you for your attention.”
Headmaster Albert smiled and accepted her gratitude.
They returned to the team, and as soon as they sat down, Aresia whispered to Karina, “The Headmaster wants to speak with us.”
Karina’s eyes widened, “What does he want?”
Aresia waved the slips of paper in her hand and explained, “These are the slips we drew for the mission. Our team’s mission was tampered with. When I drew the slip, I sensed a surge of magical energy from the mission box. These two slips fell from above the mission box.”
As they returned to the team, Karina asked eagerly, “What did the Headmaster want?”
Aresia waved the slips of paper and replied, “These are the slips we drew for the mission.”
Karina’s eyes lit up, “Did the Headmaster help us investigate?”
Aresia glanced at the slips and replied, “It seems so. I will investigate further and report back to the Headmaster.”
