To her surprise, the energy consumption was six percent lower than anticipated, and her magical reserves were recovering rapidly. She estimated that it wouldn’t take long for her magic to fully replenish without the need for any restorative potions.
After adjusting her robe and hood, Aresia held the envelope intended for the Duke’s mansion and calmly approached the entrance.
The guards stationed at the door noticed her presence and gradually approached, their gazes fixed on her. Without waiting for them to speak, Aresia handed over the envelope. “This is a letter for the Duke.”
The guards were familiar with the crimson wax seal bearing the Gryphon emblem. One of them inspected the letter, ensuring that the emblem was genuine, and then handed it back to Aresia before opening the door to let her in.
The person receiving Aresia was a familiar figure, steward Aaron. Aresia took a moment to observe him, noticing the Arachne emblem on his robe.
After exchanging polite greetings and confirming each other’s names, Aresia handed over the two letters. “The Duke wants you to send this one to the Gryphon Legion.”
“I understand,” the steward replied. “Please wait a moment, Your excellency Isis.”
The steward carefully took the letter intended for the Duke’s mansion and quickly examined it. Once satisfied with the authenticity of the emblem on the letter, he returned it to Aresia and escorted her inside.
The steward’s manner became even more respectful as he spoke to Aresia. “Your excellency Isis, the Duke has informed me of your purpose and instructed me to cooperate fully. Would you like to rest first, or shall I accompany you on a tour?”
Aresia nodded. “When I entered, I noticed that the mansion’s lawn seems like a good choice.”
The Duke’s mansion differed from the castle in terms of layout. The mansion’s main focus was on aesthetics. Aresia had chosen a grassy area near the entrance to the castle, where the lawn was well-maintained and adorned with carefully trimmed hedges on both sides of the path. It extended to a semicircular space in front of the castle, where a sculpture fountain stood.
The mansion’s garden was even more splendid, with various flowers and plants, pavilions, and fountains. There was even a glasshouse and a training ground within the garden. Considering the convenience of transporting items between the two castles, Aresia found the courtyard even more suitable than the garden.
The steward immediately complied, raising his head, and respectfully said, “Yes, please follow me.”
After Aresia select where to place the teleportation array, she starts to get to work.
She released the teleportation array, reinforced the soil below, and then stepped forward to fill in the coordinates. It only takes a few minutes.
Although the movement was not big, it still attracted the guards of the Duke’s Mansion. One of the captains of guards of the Duke’s mansion that is in duty particularly express his interest.
Aresia on the other hand ignore him and the others, pretending that she didn’t know them.
Aaron, on the other hand, although he knew what was Isis is here for because of the Duke’s letter, he still can’t believe what he was seeing. He can’t help but show a shocked look, but because he was mentally prepared, after receiving Aresia’s gaze, he immediately came back to his senses.
Aaron stepped forward and bowed, “What are your orders, Your Excellency Isis?”
Aresia instructed him, “Find workers to build stairs, fences and pillars. You can also instruct them, if there’s anything that needs to be done, or something is lacking, just do it.”
After that, she began to operate the teleportation array. At the same time, she also asked steward Aaron to come over and learn how to operate it.
“I am going back to the Duke’s Territory now. Do any of you want to go there with me?”
Aresia wanted to reassure the people of the Duke’s mansion that this teleportation array really leads to the territory.
Originally, Aaron wanted to go and try the teleportation array, but since the Duchess is not in the Mansion, it is not appropriate for him to leave the mansion, so he ask the captain of the guards to arrange some people to go.
Upon hearing this, the captain immediately named a few people, including himself, and decided on the spot who would follow Isis.
Aresia started operating the teleportation array and after making sure that it is connected to the other side she stops, “Okay, everyone who is going should stand on the teleportation array. Steward Aaron, activate the teleportation array later.”
Aresia stood on the teleportation array, and once everyone was in position, she nodded to Aaron. The teleportation array was activated.
In an instant, everyone felt their eyes blurred, but in the blink of an eye, they arrived in another location.
Calculating the time, it had taken Aresia less than fifty minutes to travel the distance. She arrived at the Duke’s castle and met her clone with Duke Rogest, but there were no others present.
When the Duke saw her and the captain of the guards of the mansion behind her, he smiled. Needless to say, the teleportation array had indeed been installed in the mansion in the Holy Lotean City.
When the guards saw the Duke, they saluted quickly. “Your Majesty, the Duke.”
The Duke approached the captain of the guards. He wore a smile and didn’t ask any questions. Instead, he gestured, “Come this way. Let Aresia send you back.”
“Yes, Your Grysenna.”
The guards saluted the Duke and then followed Aresia to the teleportation array. The connection to the teleportation array continued without interruption, transporting everyone back.
The long-distance teleportation was successful, and the Duke was delighted. He said to Aresia, “With this, Grysenna won’t have to endure the long carriage rides to return to the Duke’s Castle and vice versa.”
Aresia whispered, “I’ll set up a single teleportation array for you later, which can be placed in the Legion. So that you can teleport from the legion to the mansion anytime you want.”
Aresia knew that her mother, Grysenna, often attended banquets and gatherings, because her father was away, and her brother had his own affairs to attend to. It made her feel lonely. Besides, her father rarely returned to the Duke’s mansion, as the journey to Holy Lotean City was time-consuming and inconvenient. It was also difficult for him to handle legion matters while staying in the city. Grysenna was not particularly fond of the monotonous life in the legion. Although she occasionally stayed for a while, it seemed that her father was the one who missed her more.
The Duke’s smile deepened. “Very well.”
Due to the evening banquet and considering that Aresia must be tired, they didn’t want to keep her for too long. They let her rest and return to her quarters.
After a good night’s sleep, Aresia’s clone was being assisted by servants in preparing the evening banquet attire. On Isis’ side, Charlie, the steward, had prepared several outfits. She had decided to stick with the magical robes for dinner, as it was more in line with her character as Isis.
The banquet started. Apart from a few assisting mages, only a few high-ranking Legion officials who came with the Duke were eligible to attend. Oh, Amos was here too. Although his position wasn’t high, he was the Duke’s eldest son.
Aresia attended the banquet in Isis’ identity. She instructed her clone not to attract attention by refraining from eating. She realized she needed to upgrade her clone since situations like sitting at the same table with two people were bound to happen. If one person didn’t eat, it would be suspicious sooner or later.
Isis mostly paid attention to the mages who had just received Isis’ notebook. They had many questions for Isis, and she patiently answered and occasionally raised other questions to make them think. However, she had to be careful not to forget to eat in the process.
Amos, a few seats away, seemed very concerned about his sister, who seems to be not eating any food. He was about to mention it when he noticed their father’s expression. Surprised, Amos realized that Aresia might have already eaten, so he didn’t say anything. Perhaps she wasn’t hungry. No need to interrupt.
Aresia enjoyed engaging in magical research discussions with Frank and the others. The topics they talked about were more interesting than those of the others, who couldn’t understand the discussions. She maintained a polite smile, not wanting to interrupt their conversations. It wasn’t just because of her Isis’ identity; otherwise, they would have left the table long ago. However, a few mages seemed pleased with their discussions.
The Duke understood their feelings. When dinner was almost over, he had Charlie prepare another room for the mages to continue their discussions. The others went about their own business.
In the end, this banquet seemed to have turned into a gathering of mages for research and discussion. It was a highly technical conversation that others couldn’t comprehend. While the others politely smiled, it was clear they didn’t understand a thing. They remained at the table, careful not to obstruct Isis’ presence. Perhaps a few mages were delighted.
