Chapter 220: Hand Over the Silver

In an instant, a crowd swiftly surrounded Song Fengshou and Tang Shi, trapping them tightly.

“What are you doing?” Song Fengshou shouted in anger.

However, despite his attempt to appear composed, his voice quivered, his face betraying a sense of panic. He clutched the silver tightly to his chest, wary of anyone attempting to snatch it away.

The timing of this sudden crowd gathering right after finding the silver was too coincidental. These people must have seen him pick up the silver and now, taking advantage of their numbers, sought to seize it.

“Hand over the silver!” demanded a burly man, standing six feet tall with a robust build and a chinstrap beard, directing his demand at Song Fengshou.

It was clear they were here to rob them of the silver!

Gritting his teeth, Song Fengshou retorted, “What silver? I don’t understand what you’re saying.”

“In this situation, being dishonest and attempting to run off with the silver won’t work, there’s no way out!” the burly man bellowed. “I’ll give you one piece of advice. If you’re honest now and hand over the silver, it might go easier for you. But if you refuse, stubborn as a dead duck, you won’t get away with it!”

Are the people robbing silver acting this boldly now?

Facing a group of robust and assertive individuals, Song Fengshou was initially fearful, but their audacity fueled his anger. “In broad daylight, how dare you act so boldly?”

“Let me advise you too, don’t even think about bullying others. Otherwise, I’ll report you to the authorities right away!”

“We’re so close to the main street here, with plenty of patrol officers around. I won’t even need to go to the magistrate’s office. A couple of shouts and those officers will come. They’ll surely take you troublemakers to the office for punishment, a sound thrashing with the cane!”

Upon hearing Song Fengshou’s words, the burly men were taken aback, exchanging puzzled glances among themselves.

One of the men nudged the leader’s arm with his elbow, whispering, “Big brother, is this guy a bit out of his mind? He’s talking about reporting us to the authorities. Isn’t he walking right into a trap?”

“Who cares if he’s out of his mind? Today, we must get that silver back!” the leader glared at Song Fengshou, raising his voice. “If we don’t leave with the silver today, don’t blame me for breaking their legs!”

Threatening to break their legs if they couldn’t steal the silver?

This was beyond unacceptable!

Furious, Song Fengshou and Tang Shi, disregarding their fear of the men, marched forward. They were determined to visit the magistrate’s office, seek justice, and showcase how dire the state of law and order in the town had become.

As Song Fengshou and Tang Shi attempted to leave, the men once again blocked their path.

Song Fengshou, refraining from wasting words, instead raised his voice and shouted, “Help! Robbery in broad daylight! Help! Murder!”

His voice resonated loudly, amplified by Tang Shi’s piercing screams, reaching even those across the street, drawing attention to their desperate situation.

The patrolling officers on the street heard the commotion and hurried over, asking, “What’s going on? Who’s attempting robbery in broad daylight?”

“It’s them, it’s them!” Song Fengshou pointed accusingly at the individuals in front of him.

“Nonsense!” the leader of the men retorted, his face flushing red. “It’s clear they stole our silver, and we chased them here!”

The situation had escalated, with conflicting claims and tensions rising.
