“Before heading out, this Lord Yin had sent someone over, and now he’s back, seems like he values you greatly, why not pay him a visit?” Jiang Mixia suggested.
Song Jingyun nodded, “Indeed.”
Upon their initial arrival in the capital, it was expected that they would meet like-minded individuals.
“However…” Song Jingyun lightly scratched his cheek with his finger, hesitating to speak.
“What is it?”
“I just have this feeling that this Lord Yin looks… ” Song Jingyun paused, “looks a bit odd.”
Although their interaction in the cafeteria consisted of a brief greeting and simple pleasantries, Song Jingyun found his impression of him quite memorable.
“What’s odd about him?” Jiang Mixia pondered for a while but couldn’t pinpoint what was amiss with Lord Yin.
“I can’t quite explain it. I just have this feeling that when he’s around, the food doesn’t seem as appetizing,” Song Jingyun rubbed his nose, “I’m not sure if it’s just a misconception.”
Could Lord Yin really affect Song Jingyun’s appetite? Is such a thing possible?
Even though Lord Yin might not be exceptionally handsome, he had a dignified appearance and a respectable demeanor. While not necessarily striking, he was certainly pleasant to look at. How could this impact Song Jingyun’s appetite…
Jiang Mixia couldn’t quite understand, “Perhaps it’s just because you were full after eating in the cafeteria?”
After all, it’s common for someone who is already full to find the food less appealing.
“Maybe…”
Song Jingyun nodded thoughtfully.
The next day, after having breakfast, Song Jingyun followed the invitation and arrived at the Haw Han Pavilion.
Situated near the center of Splendorous Garden, the Haw Han Pavilion was surrounded by pavilions, lakes, and lush greenery, providing a serene setting for scholars to stroll, relax, and engage in discussions.
Due to the slightly overcast weather that day, the Haw Han Pavilion was not bustling. Besides Song Jingyun, the only other individuals present were the self-proclaimed Lord Yin, the prince, and Jiang Junli.
Song Jingyun was surprised to see Jiang Junli there and, after exchanging greetings with Lord Yin, he also greeted Jiang Junli with a smile, “Young Master Jiang is here as well.”
“Your Highness…”
Jiang Junli almost let slip of his tongue when he opened his mouth, but quickly caught himself and cleared his throat, “It’s just too boring in the capital, so I took a stroll in Splendorous Garden and happened to come to the Haw Han Pavilion. I saw Lord Yin and chatted with him for a bit, then heard that you were coming, so I waited here for you.”
“It’s really quite a coincidence!” Jiang Junli emphasized the word “quite” as he spoke.
“I see.” Song Jingyun didn’t pay too much attention and responded with a smile.
After exchanging pleasantries, they all took their seats, and a servant brought tea.
“I heard Young Master Jiang mentioning that Scholar Song is very knowledgeable. I assume Scholar Song must have been diligent and studious from a young age,” the prince inquired with a smile.
“Not quite,” Song Jingyun shook his head and truthfully replied, “I only started studying three years ago.”
Three years ago?
The prince was taken aback.
If one were to carefully analyze this, wouldn’t it mean that he started studying and participating in imperial examinations right from the beginning, achieving high honors all the way to the provincial examination?
And to top it off, he was consistently ranked first?
What a remarkable individual!
Suppressing his astonishment, the prince asked again, “So Scholar Song must truly love studying, right?”
Only through love can one attain such profound accomplishment!
“Not really,” Song Jingyun scratched his ear somewhat sheepishly this time, “I just felt it was time to study, so I did.”
Just like that?!
