The Farmer’s Wife has a Magical Spiritual Spring Chapter 104

Chapter 104 Resurrection from the dead

Shen Zi’an and Li Shi squeezed into the crowd first, with Su Zhi following behind. When they got inside, they found Dazhu’s wife sitting on the ground, holding a soaking wet boy and crying loudly. Zhao Dazhu was crouching beside her, holding his head. People around them were talking in confusion, lamenting how pitiful Tiedan was.

The boy they saw was Tiedan, whom they had met a few times. Now he lay motionless on the ground, his face pale with a tinge of blue. Dazhu’s wife was shaking him back and forth, water dripping from his body and clothes, soaking the ground beneath him.

Su Zhi looked at the river nearby and saw a layer of ice on the surface, with a large hole in the middle. It was evident that Tiedan had fallen into that ice hole.

Furrowing her brows, Su Zhi thought, even if White Wolf chased Tiedan, why would he run onto the ice when there was no way out? Just as she was pondering this, someone pulled her aside. It was Li Qing’s wife, and Shugen’s wife was also standing there, both frowning. Clearly, they were both worried about Tiedan and annoyed at Dazhu’s wife’s blame towards Su Zhi.

“You’re back, sister? You better leave here quickly. If these two lose their minds later and start hitting you, what will you do?”

Li Qing’s wife whispered to Su Zhi, saying she knew Dazhu’s wife too well. If a chicken laid an egg and it went missing on someone else’s land, she would curse all day and even pick a fight with the suspected household. Now that her only son had died, and she had targeted Shen Zi’an’s family, this matter wouldn’t be resolved easily.

Su Zhi wasn’t afraid of Da Zhu’s couple accusing them. She wasn’t easy to bully, and she had done nothing wrong. Running away would only make her look guilty, especially since she doubted whether White Wolf had chased Tiedan into the river. She couldn’t bear the blame for something White Wolf might have done. Looking at Tiedan lying on the ground, drenched and frozen, her brows furrowed even more tightly.

“How long has Tiedan been rescued? Has he been treated?”

Su Zhi observed that Tiedan’s hair and clothes were still dripping with water, indicating he had been rescued not long ago. She didn’t see any sign of Huang, the physician, so she wasn’t sure if he had been treated. If Tiedan hadn’t been treated yet, and they assumed he was dead just because he wasn’t breathing, then he might still have a chance if they acted quickly!

Both Shugen’s wife and Li Qing’s wife were stunned. They exchanged a glance and said, “Treatment? When we arrived, we heard people saying the child was beyond saving, that he had stopped breathing and his heart had stopped beating.”

Another woman nearby added, “Yes, he’s already stopped breathing. Even if they tried to save him, it would be useless. There’s no need to call for the physician. It’s really a pity!”

Upon hearing that Tiedan hadn’t been treated yet, Su Zhi immediately rushed over and said, “Dazhu’s wife, stop crying for now. Let me take a look at Tiedan.”

Dazhu’s wife turned around and pushed Su Zhi harshly, cursing, “You jinx! You cursed my son to death. I won’t let you off the hook. You want my son to die and leave me restless, huh? Don’t you dare touch him!”

Su Zhi stumbled back a step but was caught by Shen Zi’an, preventing her from falling. Angered by Tiedan’s bruised face, she retorted loudly, “Tiedan was just rescued. You haven’t even checked on him before declaring him dead. You didn’t call for the physician or move him to a warm place. Letting him lie on the cold ground while wet. Even if he’s alive, your fussing would kill him! Get out of the way! Let me see Tiedan! I want to see if he’s really dead!”

Li Qing’s wife exclaimed in surprise, “Sister, are you saying Tiedan might still be alive?”

The onlookers were also surprised. They had just heard everyone saying the child was dead, so how could he still be alive?

Dazhu’s wife was momentarily stunned, then pointed at Su Zhi’s nose and cursed, “You wicked woman! How dare you say my son was killed by me! You want to shift the blame, don’t you?! My Tiedan clearly stopped breathing! I checked myself. You’re accusing me of killing my son. Have you no shame? You invited the white wolf back and killed my son. Now you want to harm me too? I’ll fight you!”

Dazhu’s wife got up and moved to attack Su Zhi, but Shen Zi’an stepped in front of her, causing her to hesitate. Instead, she went to grab Zhao Dazhu.

“Zhao Dazhu! Are you still a man?! Your son was killed, and you’re here acting like a coward! Go and confront them! If they dare harm my son and then harm me, they’ll face divine punishment! Hurry up!”

Zhao Dazhu was pulled up, his eyes red with grief for his son. Upon hearing his wife’s scolding, he glanced at Shen Zi’an, only to see Li Shi standing beside him, glaring at him. Shen Zifu and Shen Zigui were also standing nearby, causing him to wilt in response.

Su Zhi looked at Tiedan lying on the ground and said to Shen Zi’an, “I’ll go check if Tiedan can still be saved. Keep them restrained and don’t let them disturb me.”

“Wife, go ahead.”

Shen Zi’an now had great trust in Su Zhi’s words. He felt that his wife always had such confidence in whatever she did, always bringing him surprises. Now, when she said she wanted to see if Tiedan could still be saved, he had a gut feeling that Tiedan might not be dead after all.

When Dazhu’s couple saw Su Zhi bending down to Tiedan, they immediately lunged at her but were held back one by one by Shen Zi’an and Li Shi.

The onlookers watched and discussed among themselves. They sympathized with Dazhu’s couple but also felt that there was nothing wrong with Su Zhi taking a look. After all, the child was already gone, so what harm could she do? Some of them looked at Su Zhi’s calm demeanor and wondered if she could really save Tiedan. After all, this daughter-in-law of the Shen family was the one who could summon the sacred beast. Perhaps she had some miraculous abilities!

Su Zhi squatted down, reaching out to feel Tiedan’s nose. There was no breath. She then slipped her hand under his wet and cold cotton jacket, pressing against his chest. It was cold and motionless. Su Zhi furrowed her brows, recalling the methods of resuscitation from her memory. She began to resuscitate Tiedan, extracting some of the water from his stomach before turning to Zhao Dazhu.

“Do you want to save your son or not?! If you do, then don’t interrupt me! Come over here and follow my instructions!”

Su Zhi’s face was stern as she spoke, a stark contrast to her usual calm and gentle demeanor, which made Zhao Dazhu somewhat intimidated. With Su Zhi’s words, he immediately nodded. After being released by Li Shi, he hurried over and squatted beside Su Zhi, anxiously watching her. At that moment, he felt that Su Zhi was the last hope to save his son, and he was determined to hold onto it no matter what!

Su Zhi called Zhao Dazhu over to perform resuscitation for Tiedan. Although she was capable of doing it herself and Tiedan was just a child, it was ancient times, and she didn’t want to jeopardize her reputation by saving someone. With the child’s parents nearby, she wouldn’t be so foolish.

“Give him breath! Maybe he can still be saved! Hurry up!”

Seeing Zhao Dazhu standing dumbfounded after her instructions, Su Zhi sternly urged him on. Watching him clumsily begin resuscitation for Tiedan, she directed him while simultaneously performing chest compressions on Tiedan, hoping to restart his heartbeat.

Suddenly, there was a sound coming from Tiedan’s nose. After another compression from Su Zhi, his head jerked up, and he spat out a large amount of water.

“He’s alive…”

Zhao Dazhu’s face was splashed with water, but he looked dumbfounded yet joyous, staring at his son twisting in pain with a face that was both pale and blue. It was even more surprising than when he first found out he had a son. He was so astonished that he didn’t know how to react.

“He’s alive, he’s really alive!”

“Truly alive!”

“Su Zhi, you’re amazing!”

“So he really didn’t die!”

The onlookers began to chatter excitedly. Most of the people here were simple and kind-hearted. When they saw Zhao Dazhu’s wife holding the child and crying, they thought there was no hope. They could only express their regret quietly. But now, seeing that the child could be saved, they immediately showed their joy. Some of the softer-hearted women and girls wiped away tears, but they were tears of happiness. Even the older folks began to thank the heavens. Of course, those with clearer heads began to organize and quickly move the child to a warmer place.

Dazhu’s Wife was stunned for a moment. Then, she broke free from Shen Zi’an’s grasp, pushed Su Zhi aside, and rushed to her son’s side, embracing him tightly as he continued to tremble in pain, and she began to wail again.

“Son! My poor child, you didn’t die? Mother knew you had great luck and wouldn’t leave me so easily! My precious, you’ve worried your mother to death!”

Su Zhi was pushed aside, and this time it was Aunt Jinhua, who had just arrived, who supported her.

“I say, Dazhu’s wife, you’re really out of line! Zi’an’s wife saved your Tiedan, and instead of thanking her, you push her? Do you have any conscience left?”

Dazhu’s wife’s actions just now made everyone around uncomfortable, and they all cast disdainful and condemning glances at her, thinking she was too rude.

“Why should I thank her? It’s because of her that the White Wolf scared my son into the river! My son survived because of his luck, not because of her! My son must have been scared and frozen when he fell into the water. I’ll need money from her to take care of him!”

With Dazhu’s wife words, some people thought she had a point.

Li Zheng, standing nearby, said with a stern face, “We’ll discuss this later! You even know your son’s frozen! Hurry up and take him home, and call for the Physician. Don’t let him get worse!”

Zhao Dazhu hurriedly held his son in his arms and ran towards home. Dazhu’s wife glared at Su Zhi before following suit.

Su Zhi was about to ask the onlookers if they knew what had happened. She couldn’t believe that the White Wolf would chase Tiedan without reason.

Before Su Zhi could speak, cries and shouts filled the air once again. Su Zhi frowned, realizing that Aunt Li(Granny Zhao) had also arrived. Since Tiedan was her grandson, she was probably going to make a scene again.

(There’s been a change in how to address granny Zhao. From now on she will be called Auntie Li.)
