Chapter 3 – First Encounter

At the airport, Lin Luo, who was being desperately squeezed into the arms of the other person, looked utterly helpless.

“Little Luo Luo, I missed you so much.” The newcomer wore a white dress, her hair tied in a bun, appearing petite and adorable, looking exactly like the little sister next door.

“Alright, Yueyue, let go first. Your friend must be tired from the trip. We can talk after we go back.” The man was tall and upright, gentle and refined like jade. When he looked at the little girl whose brows knitted slightly from being strangled by his younger sister, a trace of amazement flashed across his eyes.

The girl’s cheeks were rosy, her features exquisite and stunning. Just standing there quietly made it hard for people to look away.

“Yes, yes, yes, Little Luo Luo, let’s go, to my house.” Luo Yueyue pulled Lin Luo toward the parking lot.

On the way, after mutual introductions, when Lin Luo learned that the man was Yueyue’s older brother, named Luo Junze, her expression became indescribable. She suddenly remembered that in the book, the Male Lead’s grandfather was the Chief of the military district, and after the apocalypse, he became the head of the Southern Base. The Male Lead had trained in the military since childhood, was extremely skilled, and later became the Captain of a special forces unit. The deputy captain of that very unit was named Luo Junze.

It couldn’t possibly be such a coincidence, right? She didn’t want to get involved with the Male Lead or anyone close to him at all. Lin Luo’s heart was uneasy and confused.

When Luo Junze saw the little girl’s “seeing a ghost” expression right after he introduced his name, he rubbed his nose. Was he really that frightening?

The car slowly drove into the villa district. Located in the suburbs of S City, the scenery here was beautiful, sparsely populated, and with a military base nearby, the safety was fully guaranteed.

Yueyue’s home was a three-story villa. Dense, lush bamboo blocked the blazing sunlight and scorching heat. Black marble paved the ground, and the bright tiles gleamed like mirrors. Compared to the original owner’s villa, this one was no less luxurious.

Like Lin Luo, Yueyue’s parents were always busy. She had grown up relying only on her brother. But since her brother was usually occupied and seldom at home, the house was left with only servants, so Yueyue occasionally felt lonely.

“Luo Luo, just treat this as your own home. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask, no need to be polite.” Luo Junze’s voice was as gentle as possible, afraid of accidentally scaring the little girl again.

“That’s right, Little Luo Luo, you mustn’t be polite with us. Just treat my brother as your own and order him around.” Luo Yueyue glanced at her brother’s gentle demeanor. If others didn’t know better, they might think Little Luo Luo was his real sister.

“Mm, alright. Thank you, Brother Ze.” Lin Luo smiled sweetly, looking every bit the obedient girl.

Wow, Little Luo Luo was so cute—she just wanted to hug her! As the thought crossed her mind, Luo Yueyue went straight ahead and wrapped Lin Luo in a full embrace.

When Luo Junze heard that soft, tender voice, he felt as if his bones were about to melt. What was he supposed to do with such an adorable little girl?

“Yueyue, take Luo Luo upstairs to rest first. I’ll go take care of some work.”

“Mm, brother, go ahead. Don’t worry about us.” Luo Yueyue blinked her large eyes mischievously as she bid her brother farewell.

“Alright, call me if anything happens.” Luo Junze gently patted his sister’s head, his face full of indulgence.

Lin Luo and Luo Yueyue rested for an entire afternoon. After dinner, Luo Yueyue dragged Lin Luo downtown for shopping. Gazing at the bustling scene before her, the endless flow of people, Lin Luo thought that in just a few days, all of this would probably no longer exist.

When the city collapsed, ruined beyond recognition, zombies would roam freely, plants and animals would mutate, and the living environment for humanity would become extremely harsh. She did not know whether she could survive safely.

Lin Luo felt utterly lost, with nowhere to lean on, her heart filled with discouragement.

“Luo Luo, this ice cream shop is super delicious. How about we go eat together?” Luo Yueyue tugged Lin Luo toward the shop, afraid they might miss out if they went too late.

Looking at her lively and energetic friend beside her, Lin Luo suddenly felt enlightened. Things were not that bad after all, right? At least she still had Yueyue by her side. She believed that as long as they worked hard together, they would surely be able to survive well in the apocalypse.

In the following days, Lin Luo and Luo Yueyue roamed through every street and alley of S City, tasting all the delicacies the city had to offer. And yet, the apocalypse was about to arrive.

Tomorrow, the entire world would be shrouded in a thick fog. The fog contained an unknown virus; anyone who inhaled it would fall unconscious, and upon waking, they would either become a zombie or remain an ordinary human. Only a very small portion of people would awaken as ability users.

That evening, Lin Luo and Yueyue were sitting on the living room sofa watching the news on TV when they suddenly heard movement at the door.

“Brother, why are you back?” Luo Yueyue asked in surprise as she looked at her brother entering through the doorway.

Following her gaze, Lin Luo saw that beside Luo Junze stood a stranger. He was about 185 cm tall, tall and upright, with features as if sculpted, a high nose bridge, sensual thin lips, and pitch-black, deep, icy eyes filled with coldness. His noble aura was extraordinary, standing out above the crowd.

“Mm, came back to rest for two days. This is our Captain, Xiao Chen.”

“This is my sister, Luo Yueyue. And this is Lin Luo, my sister’s classmate.”

The three greeted each other, but Lin Luo was completely dumbfounded. The Male Lead—why was he here? Wuwuwu… Mom, she wanted to go home!

Xiao Chen swept a glance at the two girls, his eyes finally resting on Lin Luo. A trace of brightness flashed in his gaze. The girl was wearing pink bunny pajamas, looking adorably dazed and cute. Her skin was so delicate it seemed water could be pinched out, and her beauty was enough to drive people mad.

“Luo Luo, are you getting used to living here?” Luo Junze asked gently as he looked at Lin Luo. After not seeing her for a few days, the little girl looked even prettier.

“I am. I’ve been having lots of fun with Yueyue.” Lin Luo smiled faintly at Luo Junze.

“As long as you’re comfortable. These next two days, there may be extreme weather, so don’t go outside for now.” Luo Junze said, his expression a bit more serious.

“Brother, what kind of extreme weather?” Luo Yueyue asked curiously.

“A kind of unprecedented dense fog. Visibility will be zero.”

“Oh, then will you be staying home these two days?”

“Mm. Captain and I will be staying here these two days.”

Lin Luo didn’t hear a single word of the siblings’ conversation. She realized that ever since Xiao Chen had stepped into the room, his gaze had never once left her.

Her heart raced, her palms grew sweaty from nervousness. Could it be that the Male Lead disliked her and was already thinking about how to kill her?

Wuwuwu… Was it fate that the female supporting role was naturally at odds with the Male Lead? She hadn’t even done anything! Crying!!!

Xiao Chen, watching the little white rabbit’s nervous and uneasy expression, felt a faint smile pass through his eyes. Tsk, how cute.

After ten o’clock, everyone returned to their own rooms to rest. Lin Luo lay on her bed, staring worriedly at the ceiling. The apocalypse was coming. With anxiety and fear for the future filling her heart, she unknowingly drifted into sleep.
