Chapter 30: Romance Reality Show Turns into Job-Hunting Program
Fu Xin cheerfully announced, “Next, please begin your two days of sweet companionship!”
Pei Jingli smiled, his eyes narrowing as he reached out to Wen Lingyue. “For the next two days, I look forward to working with you.”
Wen Lingyue extended her hand to meet his. A burning gaze immediately followed.
She pursed her lips. Why did this romance show suddenly feel so intense?
The four pairs of guests set off in different directions, and the livestream was split into four channels.
2:00 PM, [Li Yue] Livestream Channel.
Wen Lingyue brought Pei Jingli to her usual dance studio.
“In the afternoons, I usually practice dancing.”
She looked at him in the mirror. Seeing him in a traditional-style dance outfit, she asked, “Do you have any dance experience?”
“A little street dance.”
“Then I’ll teach you.”
Wen Lingyue showed him a few simple moves.
Pei Jingli mimicked her carefully. His tall frame wasn’t very flexible, so while the movements looked correct, there was a slightly awkward lack of coordination.
Wen Lingyue demonstrated, “Lower your neck, push forward with your shoulder blades…”
She stood before the mirror, the outfit highlighting her graceful figure. Her eyes shimmered like light had been cast over her entire being.
Pei Jingli was stunned.
He really loved Wen Lingyue’s dancing.
“Phoenix’s Cry” amazed him, and “Cold Moon, Sparse Shadows” had enchanted him.
He asked, “What dance is this?”
“Drunken Spring Breeze.”
“Then we’ll learn this one.”
He smiled softly. “Please demonstrate, Teacher Wen.”
Wen Lingyue stood in front of the mirror. Pei Jingli played the music, and the cheerful melody filled the studio.
On her toes, she performed a high kick, leaping gracefully. Her soft skirt spread out in the air, her figure like a crescent moon, radiating both power and beauty.
Pei Jingli’s breath caught. His heart pounded wildly.
The live chat exploded, and the channel’s popularity soared.
Immersed in the music, Wen Lingyue moved lightly and energetically. The upward curve of her eyes seemed tinged with springtime, her movements intoxicating.
Pei Jingli watched quietly, his heartbeat drumming loudly. He was completely captivated.
When the dance ended, Wen Lingyue glanced at him, her eyes sparkling with joy. Pei Jingli’s breath caught.
He sighed, “Truly worthy of Drunken Spring Breeze.”
He almost swooned under the skirt’s sway.
The chat was green with envy:
[Pei Lucha, you’re so lucky to have Wen Lingyue dance just for you!]
[His gaze never left her for a second!]
[She’s so beautiful! Suddenly everyone seems unworthy of her!]
Meanwhile, in the Yunding Tower CEO office.
Li Qingqing sat across from Fu Yuanzhang.
“You’re from Qing University’s finance department?”
“Yes.”
Fu Yuanzhang flipped through the files. “Any prior experience in finance?”
“Some internships outside school…”
Li Qingqing’s mind suddenly clicked. “President Fu, is Yun Ding still hiring?”
Fu Yuanzhang looked up. After a moment, he dialed the internal line. “Temporary recruitment—HR, come to my office.”
“…”
Li Qingqing felt first awkward, then straightened her back, lifted her chin, and said, “Thank you, President Fu, for this opportunity!”
Yun Ding! A coveted place for many finance graduates.
Even as a civilian with no luck in romance from the show, she had gained a career opportunity instead!
The Yun Ding HR recruiter entered the CEO office and began a one-on-one interview with Li Qingqing.
The viewers were stunned: ???
What kind of bizarre turn is this?!
Fu Xin was ready to spit blood.
This is a romance reality show!! Not a job-hunting program!
Wolong and Phoenix Chick ivestream Channel.
In the recording studio, piercing music echoed.
Lin Rui covered his ears in pain. “Okay, that’s enough.”
Yu Yan’s high-pitched singing finally stopped.
Lin Rui gave a relieved smile. “Promise me you’ll take acting seriously from now on, okay?”
Yu Yan: “……”
The day ended.
The next morning, the sky was hazy.
Pei Jingli and Wen Lingyue arrived at the hospital, wearing white coats.
That’s right—Pei Jingli’s profession was a doctor.
People hustled along the hospital corridor. Wen Lingyue wore a mask, and Pei Jingli led her to a consultation room.
“Cough cough—”
A faint cough came from a few steps away. Wen Lingyue turned. A small, thin child pressed his chest, face pale.
She rushed forward immediately.
“Lingyue!” Pei Jingli was startled.
“Hoho—”
Wen Lingyue pushed through the crowd and steadied him. The child twitched uncontrollably, coughing violently, white phlegm spilling from his mouth.
“Bao’er!” the mother cried.
Chaos erupted around them.
Wen Lingyue loosened the child’s collar, observing his trembling body. She pressed firmly on the Tian Tu and Yu Ji acupoints. “Spread out! His asthma is flaring. Call the doctor!”
Pei Jingli hurried to her side.
“Cough cough—”
The child coughed up thick phlegm. His heaving chest eased, and he collapsed into Wen Lingyue’s arms.
His eyes, wide with near suffocation, shed two streams of tears.
He knew he had escaped death’s grasp once again.
“Good boy, it’s okay.”
Wen Lingyue comforted him softly, seeing the nurses and doctor arriving. “Let’s get you checked, alright?”
The small child blinked.
His mother quickly scooped him up, repeatedly thanking her. “Thank you, doctor, thank you so much!”
Wen Lingyue paused. “Let’s take him for a checkup.”
“Okay…”
The flustered mother left with her child.
A bystander cheered, “Well done! Which department are you a doctor in?”
Wen Lingyue glanced down at her coat. “……”
Pei Jingli, the real doctor: “……”
The livestream audience was utterly confused: ???
Wait—who is the doctor here?
[Wasn’t she just here to experience Pei Jingli’s day at the clinic? How did she end up taking over?!]
[Wen Lingyue knows first aid?! What can’t she do?!]
[Sister Wen, multi-talented, a hidden treasure girl!]
Wen Lingyue followed Pei Jingli into the consultation room.
Pei Jingli, a neurosurgeon, rubbed his forehead. “You know how to handle pediatric asthma too?”
“A little.”
“You said you knew a bit of anatomy too.”
Shocked by her knowledge, he teased, “How about you take this shift?”
Wen Lingyue: “…not impossible.”
Pei Jingli: ?
“Just joking.”
Wen Lingyue smiled. “I don’t know much about neurosurgery, and I don’t have a medical license anyway.”
Pei Jingli: “…the second part is the key, right?”
Wen Lingyue gave a shy smile.
Audience: ???
So you really want to take over!
Her actions instantly made the livestream explode in popularity, topping trending charts.
After morning consultations, that afternoon, Pei Jingli brought Wen Lingyue to the lab.
After iris scanning, the lab doors opened. Cold walls and machines appeared before them.
“This is the sterilization area. Inside is the chemistry and physics lab, where I usually—”
Pei Jingli, noticing Wen Lingyue’s pale face, hurriedly asked, “Lingyue, are you feeling unwell?”
Wen Lingyue murmured and her fingertips trembled slightly.
