“Xiaowen, isn’t that Tan Yixuan over there? And the one following her must be Wang Sasa, right?”

Yu Xiaowen’s gaze followed the direction her classmate pointed out. She saw Wang Sasa trailing closely behind Tan Yixuan, her expression darkening with apparent concern. “Is Wang Sasa going to cause trouble for Tan Yixuan again? Should we go and stop her?”

Yu Xiaowen was a grade below Tan Yixuan, and Wang Sasa hadn’t made a big deal of it, so she didn’t know that Wang Sasa had not troubled Tan Yixuan for quite some time.

Her classmate, shrinking back in fear, quickly stopped Yu Xiaowen and said, “Don’t! Be careful not to get on Wang Sasa’s bad side.” After a pause, the classmate glanced at Yu Xiaowen cautiously and added, “Besides, if you feel sorry for Tan Yixuan, why not feel sorry for yourself? You don’t know how your boyfriend feels about Tan Yixuan…” Unable to finish under Yu Xiaowen’s clear gaze, the classmate sighed and said, “You’ve just transferred here and don’t know that Wei Qi is a notorious playboy. His relationships rarely last more than three months. I’m worried about you…”

Yu Xiaowen interrupted her with a smile, saying, “I trust him.”

Seeing Yu Xiaowen’s confidence, the classmate could only sigh deeply.

Back in the classroom, Yu Xiaowen overheard everyone gossiping about Wei Qi and Tan Yixuan, which had been the talk at lunch. When her deskmate noticed her return, they quickly beckoned her and whispered, “Wei Qi’s birthday is tomorrow. How are you planning to celebrate?”

Yu Xiaowen’s face turned pale at the mention of the birthday. Wei Qi hadn’t even mentioned it to her, and they hadn’t been in touch for several days.

Thinking about how much Wei Qi cared about Tan Yixuan, Yu Xiaowen’s lips moved slightly as she forced a smile and said, “Just like before, I suppose.”

Noticing Yu Xiaowen’s troubled expression, her deskmate quickly changed the topic, trying to sound casual. “You don’t know? I heard from a senior in the third year that Wang Sasa has supposedly turned over a new leaf and wants to be friends with Tan Yixuan. She really thinks we’re fools not to see through her intentions,” they said, shaking their head.

Yu Xiaowen smiled thoughtfully but replied, “Maybe she really has changed. After all, we’re all classmates.”

Her deskmate rolled their eyes and scoffed, “Her? Forget it! People like her are rotten to the core; she’ll never change!”

Yu Xiaowen smiled and said nothing. At this point, her deskmate, visibly agitated, muttered, “Do you know who Wei Qi invited? He actually asked Tan Yixuan to his birthday party, just like what happened at lunch!”

Yu Xiaowen forced a smile, her lips moving soundlessly, and said nothing in response. She knew that Wei Qi was playing basketball in the gym at this time. Although she had thought about asking him, she restrained herself from doing so.

Since childhood, she had known that to keep a man’s heart, one should never ask why. Asking would only lower her status. Wei Qi was her boyfriend chosen after many selections when she transferred to the second high school. He was wealthy, handsome, and although he rarely attended classes, he always excelled in exams. Unlike her previous boyfriends, he was truly a person of extraordinary talent.

Yu Xiaowen deliberately maintained a distance with Wei Qi, neither allowing him to discard her easily nor keeping herself too distant to discourage him. Although they were a couple, she had never admitted it publicly in the past month. She had thought she was different from those three-month girlfriends, but now that Wei Qi hadn’t even invited her to his birthday party, Yu Xiaowen, who thought she had him under control, found it hard to accept.

After a moment of contemplation, Yu Xiaowen deliberately wandered around the gym, which attracted the attention of the basketball players.

A teammate nudged Wei Qi’s shoulder and teased, “Your girlfriend is here.”

Wei Qi was momentarily stunned, then turned and said indifferently, “So what?”

His voice wasn’t loud, but the gym was not crowded, and everyone present heard it. Yu Xiaowen’s expression stiffened slightly, then she forced a smile and said, “Wei Qi, do you want some water?” She held up a bottle of mineral water.

Wei Qi, bored, walked over and took the water without much interest.

Yu Xiaowen, subtly probing, noticed that Wei Qi still hadn’t mentioned anything about her birthday, which made her bite her lip in frustration.

After Wei Qi left, Yu Xiaowen went straight to Class 6 of the senior year.

Wang Sasa was intrigued when she heard someone was looking for Tan Yixuan. As far as she knew, Tan Yixuan, being a transfer student, had hardly any acquaintances, and the only one she knew had betrayed her. Tan Yixuan had always been aloof and indifferent, making her even less inclined to make friends. Hearing that a junior from the second year was looking for her, Wang Sasa raised her eyebrows in curiosity.

After Wang Sasa became Tan Yixuan’s deskmate, no one dared to bully Tan Yixuan anymore, since Wang Sasa had declared her intention to be friends with Tan Yixuan. Although it was unclear whether Wang Sasa was sincere or not, she could at least intimidate classmates from their own class. However, Wang Sasa wasn’t sure about other classes and grades.

Thus, Wang Sasa followed Tan Yixuan out of the classroom, half out of curiosity and half out of concern, keeping a distance of about thirty meters behind. When Tan Yixuan reached a corner of the school playground, Wang Sasa settled into a nearby pavilion, crossing her legs and waiting to watch the scene unfold.

She looked into the distance and saw the other protagonist, sneering. It was indeed an interesting spectacle.

Yu Xiaowen, with her sweet and innocent appearance, seemed like a well-behaved girl. However, Wang Sasa knew that the original owner had suffered quite a bit because of her. Yu Xiaowen had put in considerable effort to trouble Tan Yixuan. Moreover, every time the original owner had tried to trouble Yu Xiaowen, Yu Xiaowen had managed to avoid it, and when avoidance wasn’t possible, her free boyfriend Wei Qi stepped in. Yu Xiaowen played a significant role in worsening the original owner’s reputation.

“What do you want from me?”

Tan Yixuan glanced at Yu Xiaowen dismissively. They weren’t close, just acquaintances, so Yu Xiaowen approaching her was quite unexpected.

“Tan Yixuan, you did that on purpose, didn’t you?” Yu Xiaowen bit her lip and glared at her fiercely.

Tan Yixuan, who cared little about anything except her studies and her grandmother, frowned in confusion at Yu Xiaowen’s words. “What exactly is it you want? If there’s nothing, I need to go back to do my homework.”

Yu Xiaowen looked down on Tan Yixuan’s ‘acting innocent’ and sneered, “Don’t think I didn’t notice. You actually like Wei Qi, don’t you?” As she spoke, she circled around Tan Yixuan, sizing her up with disdain. “It’s a pity that even if you faint in front of him on purpose, he wouldn’t give you a second glance.”

Tan Yixuan merely flicked her eyes toward Yu Xiaowen with a blank expression.

Wang Sasa, watching from the pavilion, looked thoughtful.

Yu Xiaowen’s comments had some truth to them. It happened when Tan Yixuan was ostracized by her classmates and was locked in the bathroom, doused with cold water. The temperature had dropped, and Tan Yixuan caught a cold, fainting in front of Wei Qi by accident. At that time, Wei Qi was still dating Yu Xiaowen and had left coldly after giving Tan Yixuan a glance.

Tan Yixuan felt it was a waste of time to stay here and didn’t even give Yu Xiaowen a look. She coldly turned to leave, but Yu Xiaowen wasn’t about to let her go easily. As Tan Yixuan was about to leave, Yu Xiaowen hurriedly called out, “Tan Yixuan, don’t you want to know about your sister?”

Tan Yixuan stopped in her tracks and turned around abruptly.

Wang Sasa, who was enjoying the scene, nearly fell over in surprise.

“What did you say?”

Tan Yixuan walked up to Yu Xiaowen step by step, and Yu Xiaowen’s gaze shifted to the distance, her eyes flickering. Then she gave Tan Yixuan a slight smile and, under Tan Yixuan’s surprised gaze, she dramatically fell backwards. From a distance, it appeared as though Tan Yixuan had pushed Yu Xiaowen down.

Wang Sasa blinked and turned to see Wei Qi approaching. She immediately understood Yu Xiaowen’s plan and lost interest.

Wei Qi might not be particularly fond of Yu Xiaowen, but as her boyfriend for only a month, it was an issue of pride. If someone bullied her, it was a slight against him. Wei Qi quickened his pace, bypassed Tan Yixuan, and helped the fallen Yu Xiaowen up. He brushed the dust off her skirt and asked softly, “Are you alright? Where did you fall?”

Yu Xiaowen, as if deeply wronged, threw herself into Wei Qi’s embrace, hugging his waist and sobbing, “Wei Qi, it hurts so much.”

“Where? Let me see.”

Yu Xiaowen pulled her head from Wei Qi’s embrace, her eyes filled with tears as she pointed to her ankle. “I twisted my ankle and can’t walk.” Then she glanced at Tan Yixuan standing aside, forcing a slight smile and added, “I… I heard Senior Wang Sasa bullied Yixuan again, so I specifically called her out to ask.”

Yu Xiaowen called Tan Yixuan out, and everyone saw it, so she had to find a reason for herself.

Wang Sasa, hearing her name, sneered.

Yu Xiaowen was clearly trying to frame Tan Yixuan, even using this incident to blacken her reputation. As expected, Yu Xiaowen continued, “But… I don’t know why Yixuan mentioned the birthday party…” She trailed off, her unsaid words clear to everyone. With tears brimming, Yu Xiaowen looked pitiful.

“Tan Yixuan, did you push Yu Xiaowen?” Wei Qi asked, upset at the idea of his girlfriend being bullied, which was embarrassing for him.

Hearing Wei Qi’s question, Tan Yixuan paused, then gave a cold smile. “You two make quite a pair, full of drama.” Saying this, she turned and walked away with a blank expression.

Wang Sasa almost burst out laughing, covering her mouth and revealing crescent-shaped eyes, thinking Tan Yixuan was quite amusing.

“Hold on!” Wei Qi immediately released Yu Xiaowen, stepped up to grab Tan Yixuan’s arm, and said angrily, “I’m asking you a question. Where are you going?”

“Let go!”

Tan Yixuan glared at the hand gripping her arm, her brows furrowing deeply. Just as she was about to speak, a familiar female voice came from a short distance away.

The three turned to see Wang Sasa walking over, with her hands behind her back.

She waved her phone in front of them with a graceful smile and said, “I just recorded something interesting. Want to see it?”
