The White Moonlight Is Quitting! Chapter 87

Chapter 87: Are You a Vampire?

The noise outside was faintly audible, but inside the room, it was completely silent.

Fu Jianzhi’s lips curved into a faint, almost imperceptible smile. “Mu Ruo.”

His voice was low and rich, as always, but when Mu Ruo heard it, it sent a strange, tingling sensation through her chest.

Mu Ruo didn’t want to admit it, but she had to—Fu Jianzhi was an incredibly charming man.

However, at this moment, Mu Ruo couldn’t tell if the effects of the drug in his system had worn off. He appeared calm, as if nothing was wrong. But appearances can be deceiving.

Getting up from the bed, Mu Ruo instinctively tried to escape towards the door. “President Fu, are you thirsty? I’ll go get you some water.”

But Fu Jianzhi firmly pressed her shoulder, pinning her against the doorframe.

Mu Ruo could smell a faint scent of alcohol on him. It wasn’t unpleasant, mingling with his usual woody fragrance, and somehow, it was oddly alluring.

Fu Jianzhi’s deep, narrow eyes lowered slightly as he gazed into Mu Ruo’s eyes. “You know what happened, right?”

Mu Ruo was on the verge of tears. “Yes.”

Fu Jianzhi’s long fingers pinched her cheek. “Then why did you come wandering into my room?”

Mu Ruo: “…”

The thing is, she didn’t really have anywhere else to go.

She and Fu Jianzhi were married. If she didn’t go to his room, where would she go? Old Master Fu’s room?

Besides, with so many men in the house, if she ended up somewhere else and one of them, driven by lust, tried to make a move on her, she might end up beating them to tears—and then she’d lose her two-million-dollar job.

Mu Ruo glanced at the bathroom. “President Fu, maybe you should take a cold shower?”

Fu Jianzhi almost laughed in exasperation. “It’s winter, and you want me to take a cold shower?”

Mu Ruo: “…”

In novels, the male leads who are drugged always do that. But reality doesn’t always align with fiction.

Right now, in Mu Ruo’s eyes, Fu Jianzhi’s life was as important as her own. If anything happened to him—if he caught a cold or worse—she’d be the one feeling heartache.

Mu Ruo sincerely hoped Fu Jianzhi would live a long, healthy life.

In truth, Fu Jianzhi didn’t feel the drug’s effects were all that strong. If it were really potent, the old men outside would have been the first to collapse. Zhou Niannian wouldn’t dare use anything too harmful or potent on them.

But now, seeing Mu Ruo looking so pitiful and trapped in his arms, that unspoken desire for domination within Fu Jianzhi suddenly intensified tenfold.

Originally, he had been gently pinching Mu Ruo’s cheek, but now his touch became more like a tender caress, his fingertips brushing against her lips.

For a moment, Mu Ruo’s mind went blank.

There was always something special about Fu Jianzhi for her. Maybe it was because she found him charming in the novels, or maybe it was a bit of compassion—seeing how Fu Jianzhi had been bullied and isolated in his family from a young age made her feel a bit sorry for him.

Fu Jianzhi lowered his head and bit down hard on her neck.

She winced in pain, unable to hold back a soft whimper.

But Fu Jianzhi quickly regained his usual composure, his eyes calm once more, though there was a slight trace of blood on his lips.

Mu Ruo was shocked. “Are you a vampire?”

Fu Jianzhi chuckled. “I couldn’t help it. The effects of the drug were kicking in, and pain is the only thing that brings clarity.”

Mu Ruo protested, “But I’m the one who’s in pain—what are you getting clear about?”

Fu Jianzhi leaned down and gently kissed away the small trace of blood on her neck. “Then why don’t you bite me back?”

Mu Ruo was not the type to hold a grudge.

For Fu Jianzhi’s sake, she decided to let the matter go.

Meanwhile, outside, Zhou Yanhui had just returned home. Upon learning what had happened, she nearly fainted in shock.

Over the years, Zhou Yanhui had lived the life of a glamorous and wealthy wife in the eyes of many in her social circle. However, to the relatives of the Fu family, she was always somewhat unworthy of respect.

Even though Fu Laoye’s original wife had passed away, most of the family still recognized her descendants as the legitimate heirs. In their eyes, Zhou Yanhui was nothing more than a vain and malicious woman.

After having two sons, she did indeed develop a dislike for Fu Jianzhi. If she could have eliminated him, she would have done so long ago. But she couldn’t. Not only that, but she had to watch helplessly as Fu Jianzhi gradually took over the family business, step by step.

At the very least, the Fu family estate was still under her control. Once Fu Laoye passed away, this property alone would be worth over a billion, not to mention the invaluable collection of antiques inside. But now, Fu Jianzhi was planning to dismiss all the servants in the house and replace them with his own people, effectively taking over all household affairs.

Zhou Yanhui felt her legs go weak. She couldn’t believe what was happening. She had only been out for a short while, and everything had turned upside down in the Fu family.

Fu Quan was full of complaints. “I’ve told you countless times not to be so biased towards your brother’s family! But you wouldn’t listen! You treated Zhou Niannian like your own daughter, and look what happened! Don’t you realize how ruthless Fu Jianzhi is? If he decides to kick us out, we won’t have a place to stay!”

Zhou Yanhui looked haggard as she replied, “What are you talking about? He’s your uncle! Niannian is your cousin!”

Fu Quan was even more dissatisfied. “All these years, you’ve given all your savings to Uncle, and he’s just thrown it away in casinos. That money would have been better off with me!”

Zhou Yanhui sighed deeply, regretting some of her past decisions. But no matter what, she knew she had to apologize on Zhou Niannian’s behalf to restore some of the Fu family’s lost dignity.

The result, however, was predictable.

Not a single person was willing to show Zhou Yanhui any kindness. Even the younger relatives didn’t want to speak with her, as if just one word with her would sully them.

She could even hear their whispered judgments about her.

“The old master must have been blind to let a woman like her into the family. She’s ruined the Fu family’s reputation.”

“I heard her niece grew up here. If she could raise such a niece, imagine what kind of woman she is… Poor Jianzhi, losing his parents so young and then having to endure all these years in the Fu family.”

“Let me tell you, I know the real story. Fu Ye was driven mad because of her. If it weren’t for her, Fu Ye wouldn’t have died.”

Upon hearing this, Zhou Yanhui’s face twisted in anger.

Was everything really her fault just because she had seduced the old master while nursing his dying wife? Hadn’t she suffered enough over the years?

Fuming, Zhou Yanhui was about to leave when she saw Fu Jianzhi standing right across from her, his cold eyes fixed on her. Though his gaze held no warmth, there was a slight smile on his lips.

Zhou Yanhui finally lost her composure. “It’s you! You’ve planned all of this!”

Fu Jianzhi smiled calmly. “Is this all you can take? Grandma, your endurance is quite lacking.”

Zhou Yanhui’s face turned an ashen gray.

Fu Jianzhi continued with a smile, “I told you long ago, the way you entered the Fu family is the way you’ll leave. This entire family is mine. You won’t take anything with you.”
