Transmigrated as a Martyr’s Descendant, I Emptied the Scummy Family’s House Before Going to the Countryside Chapter 5

Chapter 5: The Space Appears

The Ma family brothers weren’t good people either. They didn’t care how Yu Jianmin got his money; they only cared about how much betrothal money he could give their family.

“If you’ll be making five to six thousand in the future, then give our Xiaoyan a bit more. How about 1,500?”

“If I had 1,500, I could marry the factory director’s daughter.”

“You! You think the director’s daughter would want you? Fine, 1,300.”

“Alright.” Ma Xiaoyan was the flower of the textile factory, and he was determined to marry her.

“In three days, hand over the betrothal money.”

“Okay.”

“Jianmin, how could you agree to give them so much betrothal money?” Old Lady Yu anxiously asked.

“Grandma, Xiaoyan is beautiful—she’s worth 1,300.”

Honestly, it was because he himself was too ugly. He couldn’t understand it—his dad and second uncle both came from Grandma’s womb, so why was his second uncle so handsome while his dad was hideous, which made him look bad too? Otherwise, he could’ve used that money to marry the factory director’s daughter instead.

Meanwhile, at the public security bureau, Zhao Jinhua finally told the officers where Yu Jingjing had hit her. A few male officers blushed awkwardly. Since there were no female officers at the station, they called in an old lady from outside to examine Zhao Jinhua.

The old lady asked Zhao Jinhua to take off her clothes and, squinting through her presbyopic eyes, inspected the area Zhao Jinhua claimed was hit. She even shaved Zhao’s pubic area but couldn’t find any injury.

Zhao Jinhua was so furious she ground her teeth: “Yu Jingjing, you’re ruthless!”

Yu Household

After sending away those troublesome pests, Yu Jingjing finally relaxed a bit.

But the cause of her parents’ death still gnawed at her. Even if they were the original host’s parents, she now was the original host. If only they were still alive.

Even if they had to die, it shouldn’t have been in that fire. She still wanted to find out the real reason behind their deaths.

She rummaged through her parents’ room but found no clues. Opening her father’s journal, both the entry from the day before and earlier ones were perfectly normal. Her mother’s diary was the same—nothing unusual.

Trying to calm down, she returned to her room and lay on the bed for a while. Then she took out a passbook and property certificate from a hidden inner pocket sewn into her clothes.

After receiving the compensation for her parents’ death, the young girl had been afraid of carrying so much money around, so she deposited it all in the bank.

To protect her money and house, she had really put in effort. All her clothes had similar secret pockets just to keep the passbook and property certificate on her at all times in case those greedy wolves tried to steal them.

These hidden pockets made Yu Jingjing think of something—a portable space.

There were still many valuable things at home, and she couldn’t take them all with her to the countryside. Selling them second-hand was a hassle and wouldn’t fetch much. But if she had a portable space to store all the good stuff at home, she wouldn’t need to worry anymore.

In her past life, her favorite hobby during her free time was reading novels—especially time-travel stories where the heroine had a portable space. She wondered, since other people got spaces when they transmigrated, maybe she could too?

Best would be one with both planting and storage functions—where she could grow her favorite fruits, vegetables, grains, and even medicinal herbs.

Just as she closed her eyes and tried to check with her mind if she had a space, a voice rang in her head.

[Hello, Host. I’m the Greedy Fortune System No. 2. Nice to meet you!]

“Oh?” Yu Jingjing’s eyes flew open. A system?

But what she wanted was a space—not a system.

Damn this system. It better not try to bind itself to her and force her to do missions. She hated those systems that forcibly bound their hosts and made them do tasks.

“You’re a system? I want a space. Let me warn you—without my consent, you are not allowed to bind to me. Otherwise, I’ll find a way to kick you off this planet.”

[Ahahaha, Host, you’re so funny and fierce—I like it. Don’t worry, I need your permission to bind to you.]

“Then I don’t agree. You can leave now.”

[Ah! …Oh?] The system paused, confused. [Host, think it over. If you bind with me, I’ll give you a portable space!]

“A portable space!” That’s exactly what Yu Jingjing wanted. “What kind of space?”

“Mountains, rivers, farmland—the legendary paradise.”

Yu Jingjing was incredibly tempted, but she kept a bit of reason. “System, if you’re giving me something so good, what do you want in return?”

[Nothing at all. I’ll not only give you the space—I’ll serve you, help you, obey you. I can use my treasure-seeking function to find treasures and money for you, so you can become the richest and most beautiful woman in the world. In short, I’ll serve you with all my heart. All I ask is for a five-star review when you’re satisfied.]

Yu Jingjing felt like she’d just met a five-star sales rep.

“Everything you’re saying is true?”

[Of course! Truer than pearls. If I lied, I’d be a puppy. Oh—and I really do have treasure-seeking abilities. Where else could you find such a powerful and caring system with a generous dowry?]

She had already been tempted the moment she heard the word “space.” Now, seeing the system so obedient and helpful, she thought—why hesitate?

Clearly, the heavens had taken pity on her after her miserable death and gave her both a space and a system as compensation.

Thinking of the medical malpractice incident in her past life, her heart still ached.

“May every doctor fulfill their duties, may every family stay observant and clear-minded. May there be no more medical disputes in this world.” She closed her eyes and prayed for a minute, then called out to the system, “Alright, Little System, let’s begin the binding.”

[Okay, Host. Binding starting now. 10, 9, 8… Binding complete. You may now check your space.]

Yu Jingjing immediately closed her eyes. Sure enough, she saw in her mind a space just like the system had described—vast and seemingly endless, with mountains, water, and large fields. The crops were already ripe, golden waves rolling across the fields.

A small river flowed down from the mountain, crystal clear and pristine.

She scooped up some water and drank—it was sweet and refreshing. Definitely a legendary spiritual spring.

At the foot of the mountain were all kinds of fruit trees and seedlings. A closer look revealed common northern fruits like apples, pears, peaches, grapes, and strawberries, as well as southern ones like bananas, oranges, pineapples, longans, and even durians, mangosteens, and jackfruit.

She picked a grape and ate it—it was much sweeter than outside. The strawberries too. The rest must be just as good.

Suddenly, a rumbling sound echoed as a three-story villa rose from the ground in the open field—it was the very one she had lived in during her past life.

Back then, she had been an orphan, with unknown parents. The orphanage director saw her intelligence, especially her passion for traditional Chinese medicine, and introduced her to a renowned TCM doctor to study. She also dabbled in Western medicine and, by her thirties, was an expert in both at the hospital.

She preferred peace and quiet, so she had bought a standalone villa in the suburbs. Besides bedrooms, washrooms, and a gym, it also had a small lab where she occasionally prepared medications.

Stepping inside, the interior layout and furnishings were exactly the same as in her past life.

“System, thank you for bringing my little villa too.”

[Aiya, no need to thank me, Host. You’re being too polite.]

Yu Jingjing still couldn’t see the system. “System, can’t you have a physical form in this space?”

[Nope. Maybe in the future, if we become super in sync. Hehe, I’m also curious what I’d look like with a form.]

She didn’t push further. Looking at the ripe crops in the distance, she asked, “System, how do I harvest this grain?”

[Host, you and I can both control the planting and harvesting with our minds. I’ll take care of it regularly for you.]

“You really are a thoughtful system. I’ll leave it to you then.”

[It’s not hard—serving the Host is our mission.]

Yu Jingjing couldn’t help but feel curious. The system was so diligent and obedient—could it really have no hidden agenda?

“System, are you really just here to serve me? No ulterior motives?”

[Of course! Host, don’t overthink it.] (Even if I did, I can’t say it now.)
[Host, don’t worry. Time will prove how sincere I am to you!]

“Alright. But if I find out you had another agenda, I’ll kick you out. By the way, why are you called Greedy Fortune No. 2? Is there a No. 1?”

[No.]

“Then why aren’t you Greedy Fortune No. 1?”

[Okay, from now on, I’ll be No. 1.]

“Pfft, then I’ll call you Little Fortune.”

[Sure, Host!]

Yu Jingjing exited the space and immediately tossed the property certificate and passbook inside. She also threw in all the cash, vouchers, and valuables from her drawer. Then she headed to her parents’ room. There wasn’t much left there now. If her uncle didn’t send over the rest of the items, she’d go collect them herself.

The dressing mirror on the wardrobe reflected her current appearance. She hadn’t really looked at this body since arriving.

Looking closely now, she was stunned to find she looked exactly like her past self—fair skin, cherry lips, arched brows, almond-shaped eyes.

In her past life, people often said she looked like Lin Daiyu—fragile and delicate. But those who had seen her in action knew that was only the surface. Inside, she was all strength and toughness.

Back when she first arrived at the kindergarten, she hadn’t even spoken a word before she had taken down the school bully with a single move.

At the time, the teacher on duty had rushed over in shock, thinking there was a fight. But when they saw the little girl standing straight with clear eyes and a calm face, while the notorious troublemaker was bawling on the ground, they didn’t know whether to be impressed or terrified.

From then on, no one in the class dared to mess with her again.

She wasn’t the kind of person who liked to show off, but if someone stepped on her bottom line, she never gave in.

Now that she was back, how could she let herself live a life of regret once more?

She was going to protect what she had lost, and more importantly—change the fate of those around her.

The wind swept past the treetops as she stood at the entrance of the sect. Her clothes fluttered lightly, and the bamboo leaves swayed with a soft rustle.

With a clear gaze and steady footsteps, she stepped forward—

This time, she would not hesitate.

The last section read like it’s from another novel. 😆 What ‘sect’ is it referring to? Makes no sense.
