Inside the elevator, a chubby man glanced at Fu Yunzhu and couldn’t help but break into a nervous sweat.

The man squeezed his way through the crowd to Fu Yunzhu’s side, a smile on his face. “Fu…”

He barely got a word out before he was met with Fu Yunzhu’s cold gaze, instantly recalling the warning he had once received. His expression froze, and he quickly corrected himself.

“Manager Yun, hello. I’m the head of the HR department. You can call me—”

Fu Yunzhu gave him a brief glance, showing no interest in hearing more. Instead, he cut him off, asking directly. “What’s going on with all those people outside?”

The man awkwardly wiped the sweat from his forehead, surprised by Fu Yunzhu’s bluntness. But remembering who he was speaking to, he composed himself and answered seriously. “Today, Xingyao Entertainment is holding auditions for new talent. Those people outside are here with their applications for the interviews.”

As he spoke, the man glanced at Yuan Xi, who stood next to Fu Yunzhu.

Noticing Yuan Xi’s youthful appearance and figure, his eyes lit up. “Manager Yun, is this gentleman here for the auditions as well?”

“No, he’s my assistant.”

As he spoke, the elevator reached the man’s floor, leaving the man no choice but to step out. He cast a regretful glance at Yuan Xi, the kind that sent shivers down Yuan Xi’s spine. Unable to bear the unsettling gaze, Yuan Xi instinctively moved closer to Fu Yunzhu, trying to avoid further attention.

Fu Yunzhu shot the man a cold look, and the man immediately shrank back, hurrying out of the elevator.

With most of the passengers now gone, the elevator felt much less crowded.

Given the man’s earlier attitude, the remaining passengers stayed silent when they saw Fu Yunzhu. Although they didn’t recognize him, they knew the man who had just exited.

After seeing how the man behaved, the others, unsure of Fu Yunzhu’s background had no desire to get involved.

Since it was the employee elevator, by the time Fu Yunzhu and Yuan Xi reached their floor, ten minutes had passed. While the elevator was fast, it stopped at nearly every floor along the way.

After entering the office, since Yuan Xi held a fairly idle position, Fu Yunzhu didn’t assign him any tasks.

“For today, just familiarize yourself with Xingyao’s layout and the different floors. There’s nothing specific for you to do right now.”

Yuan Xi nodded, picked up a floor plan of Xingyao Entertainment from the desk, and began memorizing it.

Meanwhile, Fu Yunzhu started working on the documents Yuan Xi had organized the day before. The well-sorted files made processing them much easier. With his extensive experience in handling paperwork, Fu Yunzhu breezed through the simple tasks effortlessly.

Xingyao Entertainment occupied a building with thirteen floors, each with a distinct function and layout.

The first floor, the lobby and reception area, didn’t require much attention. However, Yuan Xi needed a general understanding of the layout of the other floors so that he could navigate quickly when needed.

When Yuan Xi reached the top floor on the plan, he couldn’t help but glance at Fu Yunzhu in confusion.

“Manager Yun… is this floor the CEO’s office?” Yuan Xi asked, holding up the top floor layout and looking at Fu Yunzhu who was busy with paperwork. As soon as he spoke, he realized he might have interrupted his work.

Fu Yunzhu set down the documents and glanced at the layout. A flicker of panic flashed through his mind.

He raised his hand to pinch the bridge of his nose, using the gesture to hide his slight unease. He quickly thought of how to smoothly explain the situation.

“The CEO of Xingyao is away on business. Since he knows about my health issues, he lent me his office temporarily to avoid any inconvenience.”

Yuan Xi nodded, looking at Fu Yunzhu and hesitating for a moment.

“Is something wrong?” Fu Yunzhu asked.

Yuan Xi furrowed his brow, visibly conflicted. He asked in a low voice, “Uh… what exactly is your relationship with the Fu family? I asked Aunt Zhang before, but she wouldn’t tell me. Then I forgot about it. But now that I’m asking you, will you tell me?”

Fu Yunzhu chuckled softly and looked down. “My grandfather is quite close with the Fu family. He worked for them for many years. I’ve had poor health since childhood, so the Fu family tends to accommodate me.”

Yuan Xi nodded, filling in the gaps on his own.

So, the male god’s grandfather worked for the Fu family—that must mean he’s one of their most trusted elders! And if their grandfathers knew each other, then it makes sense that the main family and the male god grew up together. No wonder they lent him the office!
