Yuan Xi stared blankly at Fu Yunzhou. “Can’t I stay by your side as your assistant?”
“No, you can’t,” Fu Yunzhou replied with a helpless smile. “I’ll be heading to other places soon, and my work will only get busier. You won’t be able to keep up with everything, and I don’t think you’ll enjoy it. I don’t want to see you unhappy.” He reached out and gently ruffled Yuan Xi’s hair as he spoke in a soft voice.
Yuan Xi fell silent. He wasn’t sure how he would handle being so busy, but he already knew he might not enjoy the role of an assistant all that much.
Besides, Fu Yunzhou had addressed his concerns directly. Since he trusted Chen Yang, Yuan Xi decided he would trust him too.
“Then… if I become a celebrity, can I still bring you lunch?” Yuan Xi asked after making up his mind, no longer clinging to the matter. Since he liked acting and Fu Yunzhou had already found him a manager, he decided to follow his male god’s arrangements and stop overthinking things.
Fu Yunzhou’s hand froze on Yuan Xi’s head, and his expression stiffened.
If Yuan Xi really started delivering lunch to him, wouldn’t his cover be blown?!
Fu Yunzhou silently resolved to have Chen Yang give the little guy plenty of tasks. He couldn’t let Yuan Xi have any free time to think about delivering him lunch until he was ready to reveal everything.
With a plan in place, Fu Yunzhou nodded calmly. “Sure.”
Oblivious to the complexities behind the scenes, Yuan Xi beamed when his male god agreed and nodded happily in return.
That evening, while chatting with Shen Xiyun, Yuan Xi brought up the matter. Shen Xiyun fell silent for a moment before feeling an overwhelming sense of frustration.
He’s throwing away such a golden opportunity! My eldest son is surely destined to be single forever!
When Chen Yang arrived at the office with the contract, the atmosphere was so sweet and cozy it was almost unsettling, as if pink bubbles were floating around the room.
Cautiously, Chen Yang approached Fu Yunzhou and handed over the contract. “Manager Fu, this is the highest-level contract from our company, along with the employee handbook.”
Fu Yunzhou took the contract and replied, “Give the handbook to Yuan Xi.”
Chen Yang cast a curious glance at Fu Yunzhou before walking over to Yuan Xi and handing him the handbook. He couldn’t help but ask carefully, “Cutie, are you finally signing with us? No more assistant work?”
Yuan Xi nodded and then glanced at Fu Yunzhou.
Fu Yunzhou was already reviewing the contract Chen Yang had brought in. After scanning it briefly, he spoke, “There are a few small adjustments to make, and then it’ll be ready to sign.”
Chen Yang’s heart leaped with joy. Yuan Xi had nodded, confirming that he was ready to sign, and the contract he had just brought in was for none other than the adorable Yuan Xi. Having finally secured the person he had been pursuing for so long, how could he not be delighted?
Grinning from ear to ear, Chen Yang returned to Fu Yunzhou’s side and eagerly asked, “Manager, what needs to be adjusted?”
Fu Yunzhou circled a few sections with his pen. “These parts need to be revised. The company’s commission will be reduced to just 10%. For endorsements or similar deals, send them to me for approval first. Also, adjust all commission splits in these areas to a flat 10% as well.”
Chen Yang: …
Boss, are you sure you’re not running a charity here?! Even Qi Yunrou, the CEO’s girlfriend, doesn’t get such favorable terms!
Chen Yang was well aware of who this “Manager Yun” really was and knew that even the CEO didn’t hold a candle to him. But this contract… was it really okay to make such changes?!
After hearing the requested modifications, Chen Yang’s expression turned a bit odd. Fu Yunzhou glanced up at him and narrowed his eyes. “Is there a problem?”
“No, no problem at all! I’ll revise it immediately and prepare a new draft!” Noticing the faint displeasure in Fu Yunzhou’s gaze, Chen Yang quickly straightened his expression, standing at attention with a strong survival instinct.
Satisfied with the response, Fu Yunzhou nodded and tossed the document back to him. “Good. Get to it. Have the revised version ready for signing before the end of the day. Starting tomorrow, you’ll take him for training.”
Chen Yang grabbed the file and hurried out of the office, afraid that staying any longer might give him a heart attack.
Once Chen Yang had left, Fu Yunzhou turned to Yuan Xi. “Starting tomorrow, I’ll have Chen Yang arrange for a teacher to train you. Would you prefer to study at the company or at home? If it’s at the company, Chen Yang will set it up for you. If at home, the teacher will go to the Fu family estate.”
Yuan Xi was still in a bit of a daze, seemingly unprepared for how quickly everything was unfolding.
Yuan Xi blinked in a daze. “Isn’t this… a little too fast? Also, studying at home—is that really okay? Wouldn’t it be inappropriate?”
Fu Yunzhou replied nonchalantly, “There’s nothing inappropriate about it. Since we’re paying for it, we should ensure it’s worth it. My suggestion is to study at the main estate. I’ll hire someone to teach you. If you study at the company, the teachers might not be as good.”
Yuan Xi: ???
What does that mean? Are the teachers at home and the company not the same?!
Although filled with confusion, Yuan Xi didn’t dare to voice his doubts and simply nodded. Since Fu Yunzhou recommended studying at the main estate, he decided to follow his advice.
“Okay, I’ll study at the main estate. But… will the teacher be okay with that?”
Yuan Xi hesitated and cautiously asked. Teaching at the company was part of their job, so the teachers wouldn’t refuse. But going to someone’s home—wouldn’t that cause dissatisfaction?
Fu Yunzhou nodded, completely unconcerned. “I’ll handle it. If the teacher doesn’t want to come to the main estate, then you’ll go to their home instead.”
Yuan Xi: “Huh?”
“The best teachers usually tutor students one-on-one,” Fu Yunzhou finally explained seriously. “I’ll hire a private tutor for you.”
Yuan Xi: …
“O-Okay.”
Seeing that Yuan Xi had no further questions, Fu Yunzhou nodded, then lowered his head to continue reviewing the documents in his hand.
Although there weren’t many files to handle during his time at Xingyao Entertainment, Fu Yunzhou had still accomplished quite a bit. He had drafted plans and strategies that, once he left and Fu Yushen returned, would guide Fu Yushen in managing and reforming the company according to his framework.
Watching Fu Yunzhou focus on his work, Yuan Xi couldn’t help but wipe away imaginary sweat from his forehead.
He never would’ve guessed that the teacher hired for him was a private tutor personally funded by his male god! Starting tomorrow, he was determined to study hard—there was no way he’d let his male god’s money go to waste. After all, it was male god’s money!
And so, the thought of Fu Yunzhou personally footing the bill ignited Yuan Xi’s passion for learning and his resolve to work diligently.
When Chen Yang entered the office with the revised contract, he couldn’t help but notice Yuan Xi’s intense, hardworking demeanor and took a few extra glances at him. At the same time, Chen Yang began to ponder the nature of Yuan Xi’s relationship with the big boss.
After all, this contract was truly one of a kind within the company. With the commission reduced to just 10%, it was practically a mere referral fee.
What was even more astonishing was that Qi Yunrou, with all her ties to Fu Yushen, didn’t have such favorable terms in her contract. Her commission rate was 30%, meaning she could only keep 70% of her earnings. And the relationship between Qi Yunrou and Fu Yushen… was intriguing, to say the least.
Even so, Qi Yunrou’s contract couldn’t be considered top-tier, though the resources she had access to were significantly better.
When Chen Yang handed over the revised contract, Fu Yunzhou glanced at it briefly. After confirming there were no issues, he passed it to Yuan Xi. “Sign it.”
Without hesitation, Yuan Xi took the contract and signed it right away, not even bothering to read its contents.
After Yuan Xi signed the contract, Chen Yang collected it and prepared to take his leave. However, Fu Yunzhou called out to stop him. “I’ll send you Yuan Xi’s information later,” Fu Yunzhou said. “I’ll also arrange for his training instructors. For now, your job is to help him find suitable scripts.”
Chen Yang found the request a bit odd. Typically, such matters were discussed directly with the talent, but since it was the big boss giving the orders, he had no choice but to nod in agreement.
Even after signing the contract, Yuan Xi was still in a daze. Just like that… he’d signed with an agency again?
He had previously vowed to himself that he wouldn’t fall into the same trap again, but now, staring at the freshly signed contract in front of him, his feelings were extremely complicated. In the end, all his emotions boiled down to a single sigh.
For the rest of the afternoon, Yuan Xi remained bewildered, unable to fully process what had just happened. The unexpected excitement left him in a state of disbelief.
When he finally snapped out of it, Yuan Xi decided to take a closer look at his copy of the contract. Contracts were always prepared in duplicate, and this one was no exception. Since Chen Yang had left and he had some free time, Yuan Xi carefully read through the terms and conditions.
As he went through the contract, there was a moment when Yuan Xi doubted if this was even real.
The commission rate was just 10%, and the term length was only five years. In his previous life, the companies he worked with had outrageous terms—contracts were long, and they would take 70% of the earnings right off the bat. After the manager’s cut from the remaining 30%, Yuan Xi was left with barely anything.
Now, looking at this contract, Yuan Xi felt utterly lost.
Had he… accidentally landed himself a golden opportunity?
Looking at the terms in the contract, Yuan Xi felt lightheaded, unable to believe he had been offered such incredible conditions. Many of the clauses struck him as extraordinarily considerate and humane.
In comparison, the contract he had signed in his previous life seemed more like a trap than a legitimate agreement!
Even after returning home from work, Yuan Xi still felt as though he were floating on air, unable to come back to reality.
As usual, Fu Yunzhou dropped Yuan Xi off and then made an excuse to leave.
Meanwhile, Fu Yushen, who had just learned he wouldn’t have to suffer at headquarters, couldn’t help but shed tears of relief. However, upon realizing he still had to work late into the night, his vision went dark, and he nearly fainted on the spot.
