Chapter 14: The Lazy Cat Who Loves Fish
When Lin Zhizhi and Lu Yi walked into the private room, it was already quite crowded. It seemed like they were the last two to arrive.
With so many people in the room, the atmosphere was naturally lively and noisy.
As soon as Lin Zhizhi entered, she heard someone call her name. Following the voice, she saw a tall girl with stylish attire and striking features standing up from her seat, raising her hand in greeting.
This girl was Zhang Yi, the captain of the dance team. She was currently in her third year, and this semester would be her last term as captain. She was set to step down next semester.
Since Lin Zhizhi’s dancing skills were among the best in her year, it was highly likely that she would take over as the next captain.
There was some truth to the saying that a person’s appearance reflects their character. Zhang Yi had bold, attractive features and a straightforward personality. She was forthright and responsible toward her team members. Of course, being captain wasn’t just about character — Zhang Yi’s dancing skills were impressive in their own right.
At this university, every club leader had to meet certain requirements. Aside from having the necessary skills and leadership ability, there was one strict rule: no failing grades. Anyone who failed even one course would lose the chance to hold a leadership position.
When Zhang Yi called out, everyone in the private room heard her — and they all noticed that Lin Zhizhi and Lu Yi were holding hands.
Lin Zhizhi walked toward Zhang Yi.
“Senior, good afternoon.” Lin Zhizhi greeted her with a smile.
Zhang Yi grinned playfully, her gaze shifting to their intertwined hands as she teased: “Oh wow, Zhizhi! Looks like you’ve managed to bring the untouchable God Lu into your harem.”
Everyone at the university had already seen the photos on the school forum — snapshots of Lin Zhizhi and Lu Yi attending class together and leaving class together. The forum was abuzz with frantic discussions, and the gossip was thriving.
The girls envied Lin Zhizhi for winning over Lu Yi, while the boys envied Lu Yi for capturing Lin Zhizhi’s heart.
Most reactions were filled with surprise and admiration, but a small number carried hints of jealousy. Some even comforted themselves with the hopeful belief that seeing is believing, and the rumors might still turn out to be false.
But now, the very two people who had stirred such a heated discussion on the forum appeared right before their eyes — holding hands, fingers tightly intertwined. Their intimate appearance left no room for doubt.
One could only imagine how excited everyone was at that moment.
Since Zhang Yi had broken the ice, the others eagerly jumped into the conversation.
“When did you two get together?”
“Are you guys really a couple now?”
“What kind of question is that? Can’t you see they’re holding hands? And not just holding hands — they’re interlocking fingers!” Someone responded before Lin Zhizhi could even answer.
“So it turns out he’s not a cold, aloof guy who avoids relationships — he just hadn’t met the right beauty yet!”
Lin Zhizhi simply listened to everyone’s chatter. With so many people talking at once, there was no need for her to say anything.
She held Lu Yi’s hand as they sat down in the spot that Zhang Yi had intentionally left vacant for them.
After they sat down, Lu Yi gently let go of Lin Zhizhi’s hand and picked up a cup, pouring her a glass of water.
Lin Zhizhi naturally took the cup and sipped it. The water was warm, and so was her heart.
As she drank, she tilted her head slightly, smiling at Lu Yi beside her.
Sensing her gaze, Lu Yi also smiled faintly.
Lin Zhizhi had felt the occasional glances directed at her and Lu Yi ever since they walked into the private room. It was as if someone had been secretly watching her the entire time. Following her instincts, she looked around — just in time to catch Song Nuan’s gaze before she could look away.
Sure enough, it was Song Nuan. After all, Song Nuan had liked Lu Yi for several years. How could she possibly give up just because Lu Yi now had a girlfriend? She was probably holding on to some kind of psychological hint — waiting patiently in places where Lu Yi couldn’t see her, hoping for a chance.
Although Song Nuan’s feelings were just a silent crush and she hadn’t done anything inappropriate, Lin Zhizhi couldn’t exactly stop someone from liking her boyfriend. Yet, the mere thought of another girl secretly watching her relationship with Lu Yi, quietly waiting to take her place at any moment, left her feeling deeply uncomfortable.
Before long, the dishes started arriving one after another.
To be fair, Zhongting Restaurant’s food was truly exceptional. Overall, the meal turned out to be quite enjoyable.
In particular, the Golden Soup Sour Fish was a standout. When it was placed on the table, the fish broth was still bubbling gently. Thin, white slices of fish floated on the surface, resembling delicate snowflakes resting on the bowl. Some pieces had already sunk to the bottom of the broth, releasing a mouthwatering aroma that was both tangy and spicy.
Lin Zhizhi couldn’t wait to pick up a piece of fish. The meat was tender and smooth, with a perfect balance of sourness and heat. The pickled vegetables were refreshingly tangy, making the dish incredibly satisfying. It was the perfect craving-killer.
After the meal, someone suggested heading to a nearby KTV for the next round of fun.
Ever since Lin Zhizhi got pregnant, she had developed a habit of taking afternoon naps. Now that she was full and content, drowsiness was already creeping up on her.
She had quietly lowered her head and stifled a few yawns.
Lu Yi had been paying attention to her the entire time. He naturally noticed how much she enjoyed the sour fish dish and also caught her sneaking in those yawns. The corners of his lips curved upward slightly.
She really was like a little cat — a lazy cat who loved to eat fish.
