Chapter 21: Average-looking Man with Overinflated Confidence  

While Lin Zhizhi was taking a nap, the surveillance cameras recorded everything.  

Yang Ayi’s daughter held the selected clothes in one hand and walked toward the counter filled with various necklaces, jewelry, earrings, and other accessories, greedily examining each one.  

At that moment, Yang Ayi, her husband, and her son entered the room.  

As soon as Yang Ayi’s son saw so many precious accessories, he was overjoyed. He rushed forward, snatched the jewelry from his sister’s hands, clenched it tightly, and raised it above his head to admire it.

Yang Ayi’s daughter’s face fell, filled with anger as she snapped: “What are you doing? Can’t you take one yourself? There are plenty in the cabinet. Are you blind?”  

Hearing this, Yang Ayi’s son was displeased. He lowered his hand, curled his lips, and said: “You damn girl, who are you scolding? I set my eyes on this one, so what?”  

Before Yang Ayi could say anything, her husband, who had entered just a step behind, spoke up: “Alright, alright, what are you arguing about? Aren’t there more?”  

Then, he turned to his daughter with dissatisfaction and said: “You’ve been here for so long, why are you still fighting with your brother? Don’t you have any sense?”  

Yang Ayi’s daughter dared not speak out in anger. She only snorted indignantly before turning away to pick out bags and shoes.  

Yang Ayi’s son smirked triumphantly, grabbed another gemstone necklace from the counter, and was about to stuff it into his pocket when Yang Ayi’s voice stopped him.

Yang Ayi became a bit flustered and said nervously: “Stop taking things. If you take too much, Miss will find out.”  

However, her son paid no attention to her words. He continued helping himself to the items, speaking nonchalantly: “Mom, she won’t notice. I’m only taking a few things. She has so many anyway; she won’t even realize something’s missing.”  

Yang Ayi’s husband appeared equally unconcerned, his eyes roaming around Lin Zhizhi’s bedroom. “This Lin family is really rich. Whether one or two things go missing, they’ll never notice. Plus, that Miss Lin is so young. Just make sure you act trustworthy in front of her, and she’ll never suspect you.”  

“Exactly, Mom! Dad’s right. The Lin family is loaded. They won’t care about a few missing items. Besides, that woman dresses so flashy and gaudy every day. She probably changes her jewelry all the time. How could she possibly remember what she has?”  

Hearing this, Yang Ayi’s son ran a hand through his fiery red hair and smiled confidently. “And Lin Zhizhi looks pretty good. She’s got a great figure and tons of money. Why not, Mom… introduce me to her? If it works out, won’t the entire Lin family’s fortune be ours?”  

After saying this, he even felt proud of himself, shaking his hair narcissistically as if he were handsome and clever.  

Seriously though…  

Brother, have you ever looked in the mirror? Have you even asked those pimples on your face for their opinion?  

Isn’t this exactly what people call a Average-looking man with Overinflated Confidence— someone who doesn’t look all that great but thinks he’s God’s gift to the world?  

The worst part was that Yang Ayi’s husband suddenly had a look of realization on his face. He nodded repeatedly, already daydreaming about becoming Lin Zhizhi’s father-in-law. In his fantasy, he lived in a luxurious mansion, drove flashy cars, and feasted on the finest delicacies.  

If Lin Zhizhi weren’t asleep at that moment and had witnessed this scene, she would probably be unable to hold back her fiery temper. She might have stormed right over to the Yang family, given them a good beating before sending them packing, or at least slapped someone across the face.  

The four members of the Yang family acted as if Lin Zhizhi’s house was their own. They used everything naturally and comfortably. If they had just a little less self-restraint, they might have even invited some friends over to throw a party at Lin Zhizhi’s house.
