Chapter 23: A Flirtatious Boyfriend
Lin Zhizhi walked out of the police station and returned directly to the hotel. She randomly ordered a meal and then went back to sleep.
Perhaps due to her pregnancy, Lin Zhizhi had been feeling particularly drowsy lately, as if she could sleep for an entire day.
She slept soundly until dawn. Sunlight shone directly onto her face, and as soon as she woke up, she instinctively raised a hand to shield her eyes.
Today was the weekend. The weather was bright and sunny—perfect for going out.
Standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, Lin Zhizhi stretched lazily. Suddenly, she remembered that she now had a boyfriend, and shopping was, of course, something that should be done together with him.
Without hesitation, Lin Zhizhi turned around, lay on her stomach on the bed, and took out her phone to message Lu Yi.

[“Keep an eye on this for me. I’m going to the restroom, I’ll be back soon.”]
[???]
[“What do you mean?”]
Seeing Lu Yi’s string of question marks, the smile on Lin Zhizhi’s lips gradually widened.
She patiently waited for two minutes before sending another message.
[A photo of the milk tea, now only one-third full]

[“You want milk tea?”]
A minute later, Lin Zhizhi finally replied.
[“How could you drink my milk tea? You have to pay me back. ૮ ◞ ﻌ ◟ ა ]
Lin Zhizhi saw the typing indicator appear in Lu Yi’s chat window. She widened her eyes curiously, eager to see how he would respond.
On the other side of the phone, Lu Yi frowned slightly. He had initially wanted to reply with another question mark, but then he suddenly recalled what Jiang Chen had said last night—“101 Rules for Getting Along with Your Girlfriend.”
Even though he wasn’t entirely convinced by it, Jiang Chen had been in at least dozens, if not hundreds, of relationships…
Jiang Chen had been rambling on the night before, and one particular point stuck out: “If your girlfriend gets upset, you must admit your mistake immediately. It doesn’t matter who’s right or wrong—just coax her. Even if it’s her fault, you should take the blame.”
As a result, Lin Zhizhi saw the following message appear on her screen:
[“Alright, it’s my fault. I’ll make it up to you. Where are you? I’ll come find you.”]
Seeing Lu Yi’s reply, Lin Zhizhi raised her phone with both hands, flipped onto her back, and lay on the bed laughing happily.
She hadn’t expected that beneath Lu Yi’s seemingly cold and aloof exterior, he was actually quite the reserved flirt.
Even Lin Zhizhi, a seasoned young woman who had watched countless sweet idol dramas from both China and abroad, felt her heart pounding uncontrollably.
She cleared her throat a few times, trying to calm her excitement, before finally replying to Lu Yi’s message.
[“Let’s meet at Wantong Plaza.”]
[“Alright.”]
…
Lin Zhizhi happily tossed her phone onto the bed and eagerly rummaged through the clothes she had brought along.
Well, there honestly weren’t many clothes.
Most of her clothes at home had probably been worn—or at least touched—by Aunt Yang’s daughter. Lin Zhizhi no longer wanted to wear them and had been planning to donate them when she found the time. For now, they remained in that house.
As a result, the only suitable option she had was a light blue floral dress—the only dress she had brought with her. But it was quite pretty.
When Lin Zhizhi put it on, it gave off the gentle, nostalgic vibe of a first love. It carried a calm, peaceful charm that felt refined and elegant, exuding the delicate beauty of a Jiangnan woman. The dress also subtly showcased her slender collarbones.
By the time Lin Zhizhi arrived at Wantong Plaza, Lu Yi was already waiting.
He was wearing a white short-sleeved shirt and black casual pants. His back looked a little thin, but his figure was tall and slender, with an air of refined elegance.
When Lin Zhizhi was about five or six steps away, she smiled as she walked toward him, calling his name.
Hearing her voice, Lu Yi turned to look at her.
He saw Lin Zhizhi approaching with a bright smile on her face. She looked so graceful, her fair skin as smooth as freshly peeled water chestnuts. Simply watching her walk toward him made the corners of his own mouth lift unconsciously.
