Chapter 25: Weak but Addicted  

Lin Zhizhi and Lu Yi had just sat down when a waitress approached with the menu.  

The waitress smiled as she handed over the menu. “Hello, this is the menu. Please take a look and let me know what you’d like to order.”  

Lin Zhizhi took the menu and glanced at it. As expected, the restaurant specialized in fish dishes.  

At that moment, Lin Zhizhi felt somewhat relieved that she wasn’t experiencing any pregnancy nausea. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been able to enjoy the fish.  

As she browsed the menu, she said: “Let’s order Lemon Fish, Szechuan Pickled Fish, and Steamed Snow Fish With Soy Sauce.”  

After ordering three fish dishes, she noticed that Lu Yi hadn’t spoken. She looked up at him and said: “You should order something too. Is there anything you want to eat? Or anything you don’t eat?”  

“You decide. I’m fine with anything.”  

Lin Zhizhi didn’t insist. Since she had already ordered three dishes, she added a plate of stir-fried vegetables.  

She closed the menu and handed it back to the waitress.  

“We’ll have these for now. Thank you.”  

The waitress, who looked like a college student working part-time, smiled warmly at Lin Zhizhi. As she accepted the menu, she responded excitedly: “No need to thank me!”  

Lin Zhizhi suddenly felt that the waitress was looking at her and Lu Yi with a somewhat excited expression.

Did she recognize me or Lu Yi?  

She glanced at Lu Yi and suddenly remembered that, according to the novel’s plot, Lu Yi was allergic to lemons.  

The novel described how, during the busiest period of the Male Lead’s startup, he often skipped meals due to work while also taking care of his son. Exhausted, he struggled to manage everything. When the Female Lead noticed this, she started preparing meals and delivering them to his office. Although he refused once or twice, she persisted. Through this, she eventually discovered his allergy to lemons.  

Recalling this, Lin Zhizhi quickly called out to the waitress just as she was turning away.  

“Excuse me, please wait a moment. We’d like to cancel the lemon fish and replace it with steamed fish instead.”  

As soon as she finished speaking, Lu Yi looked at her in confusion.  

“What’s wrong? Lemon fish was the first dish you ordered. You must like it. Why are you canceling it now?”

Lin Zhizhi blurted out without thinking: “You’re one to talk. Aren’t you allergic to lemons? Why didn’t you tell me when I ordered it just now? If I hadn’t suddenly remembered, were you planning not to say anything?”  

Lu Yi hurried to explain: “No, no… I was just thinking that you really like lemon fish. I’m fine just watching you eat it. It’s okay; let’s still order the lemon fish. I’ll eat the other fish. It’s not like we don’t have other dishes, right?”  

His deep, dark eyes shimmered with an enchanting light as he looked at Lin Zhizhi with intense focus and affection.  

Lin Zhizhi quickly averted her gaze and turned to the waitress. “Sorry, please stick with the steamed fish instead. Thank you.”  

The waitress nodded enthusiastically, her eyes even more excited as she looked at Lin Zhizhi and Lu Yi. It was as if she were a fangirl watching a sweet idol drama.  

Lu Yi glanced at Lin Zhizhi, who was quietly drinking water to avoid eye contact. A slight smile tugged at the corners of his lips, confirming his suspicions.  

It seemed that Zhizhi knew about his lemon allergy because she had been paying close attention to him. That probably meant she had liked him since high school. However, since he once said in high school that their relationship was just fake-relationship, she never confessed to him.  

If he had known back then, he would have paid more attention to Zhizhi. They could have experienced the sweetness of young love, and by the time they were old, they could have held each other and reminisced about their youthful years together.  

How frustrating… Was there a pill for regret?  

Just as Lu Yi was about to confess and tell Lin Zhizhi that he liked her too, a thought struck him.  

Wait a minute… If Zhizhi really liked him since high school, then she probably liked his cold and aloof persona.  

He remembered Jiang Chen once telling him that many girls liked him because he was cool and distant. Maybe Zhizhi liked that version of him too?  

Lu Yi looked at Lin Zhizhi as she took small sips of water, quietly sighed in his heart, and resigned himself. If Zhizhi liked the cold and distant version of him, then he would just have to control himself in front of her.  

Meanwhile, Lin Zhizhi was still thinking about how to explain how she knew about Lu Yi’s lemon allergy. But seeing that Lu Yi hadn’t asked, and with the first fish dish soon served, he still showed no intention of bringing it up.  

So, Lin Zhizhi focused on eating the fish. After all, eating fish required extreme caution — a single careless moment could result in a fishbone getting stuck in the throat.  

Lin Zhizhi was terrible at eating fish, but she was addicted to it.
