Chapter 28: The Strong Woman  

Lin Zhizhi and Lu Yi parted ways at the entrance of the shopping mall.  

Originally, Lu Yi wanted to accompany Lin Zhizhi back to the hotel, but she refused.  

She was not oblivious—Lu Yi’s phone had been ringing with calls and messages ever since they left that clothing store.  

Lin Zhizhi drove her car, glancing at the rearview mirror where Lu Yi still stood in place. The corners of her lips curved up slightly.  

She would never become a burden on her boyfriend’s path to success. She was determined to be the gentle, obedient, non-clingy, and unpretentious woman beside a great man.  

It was past three in the afternoon, and since it was the weekend, the traffic on the road was relatively light.  

Lin Zhizhi drove smoothly, wearing sunglasses, listening to pop music. Her fingers tapped lightly on the steering wheel as she occasionally hummed along.  

As she neared the hotel, she saw in the distance a young woman in a professional business suit standing in front of a car. The woman looked anxious, repeatedly reaching out to hail passing vehicles while glancing at her watch.  

As Lin Zhizhi’s car approached, she recognized the woman. However, to say they “knew” each other was a stretch—they were merely aware of each other’s names.  

The woman’s name was Zhou Tiantian. Contrary to what her name suggested, she was not a sweet and delicate girl. On the contrary, she was highly capable, calm, and intelligent. Her short, ear-length haircut was neat and refreshing, exuding a professional and sharp aura.  

Zhou Tiantian’s family was once similar to Lin Zhizhi’s—they both had their own companies. However, Zhou Tiantian’s family had gone bankrupt several years ago.  

In the novel’s plot, it was mentioned that after her family’s bankruptcy, Zhou Tiantian persevered through continuous efforts, growing from owning a tiny studio to successfully founding a well-known company.

In contrast, the original owner of Lin Zhizhi’s body had refused to accept reality after her family’s downfall. She had engaged in self-destructive behavior, harassed the Male Lead, schemed against the Female Lead, and ultimately met a tragic end.  

Lin Zhizhi still remembered a scene in the novel that was written like this:  

After becoming Mrs. Lu, Song Nuan had long since become accustomed to attending all kinds of banquets. Tonight was no different. She was surrounded by a group of wealthy ladies who were showering her with compliments. Just as she was beginning to feel bored, she heard a commotion at the entrance of the hall.

Following the sound, Song Nuan looked over and saw a woman with short hair, exuding the sharp and capable aura of a successful career woman, walking inside. Several middle-aged men accompanied her, seemingly flattering and trying to ingratiate themselves with her.

The wealthy ladies who had been chatting enthusiastically with Song Nuan noticed her interest in the newcomer and quickly introduced her.

“The woman who just came in is Zhou Tiantian from the Zhou family, President Zhou.”

“President Zhou is truly an incredible figure. She practically built her empire from scratch, and the wealth she holds now is simply astounding.”

One of the wealthy ladies, recalling the entanglements between Lin Zhizhi and Song Nuan, eagerly chimed in with flattery: “Isn’t that the truth? President Zhou’s family also went bankrupt once, but she relied on her own efforts to achieve success. Now look at Lin Zhizhi—her family also went bankrupt, yet all she knows is how to take shortcuts and scheme her way through life.”

Hearing this, Song Nuan frowned slightly and said gently: “Alright, alright, let’s not talk about this anymore. Zhizhi only lost her way for a moment. She has already faced her punishment. We shouldn’t blame her any further.”

Upon hearing this, the other wealthy ladies quickly agreed and changed the subject, chatting about the latest handbags, shoes, and jewelry…
