Chapter 36: Justice May Be Delayed, But It Will Never Be Absent  

Zhou Tiantian was in a good mood and walked a few steps ahead of Lin Zhizhi.  

As soon as they reached the vegetable section, Lin Zhizhi saw Zhou Tiantian suddenly stop in her tracks, her eyes fixed on something ahead.

Lin Zhizhi quickly stepped forward and followed Zhou Tiantian’s gaze—only to witness a shocking and infuriating scene!!!  

A tall, thin middle-aged man was secretly harassing a young girl. His expression remained calm and composed, as if he was familiar with her.  

If it weren’t for the girl’s trembling body and the helplessness, fear, and panic in her eyes, Lin Zhizhi might have thought the man and the girl were a couple.  

Lin Zhizhi made eye contact with the girl and clearly saw a glimmer of hope light up in her eyes—but it was quickly extinguished, replaced by reddened rims.  

The man also noticed Lin Zhizhi and Zhou Tiantian. Perhaps sensing no threat from them, he merely shot them a fierce glare before ignoring them again.  

Lin Zhizhi looked around, expecting someone to step in and stop him. Yet, not a single person intervened. It was as if no one had noticed. No—that wasn’t right. Some people had noticed, but they only stood at a distance, whispering among themselves.  

At that moment, Lin Zhizhi felt both furious and deeply confused.  

She silently observed the middle-aged man while subtly stretching her joints and assessing her surroundings.  

Back in university, Lin Zhizhi had joined the Taekwondo club and even worked part-time at a Taekwondo gym. Over four years, she had trained under the coaches there for free.  

Besides, from her careful observation, she could tell that the man’s steps were unsteady, his face sallow, and his eyes dark with fatigue—clear signs of someone who stayed up late too often and had a poor physical condition.  

This gave Lin Zhizhi confidence that she could take him down. But just in case, she had already examined the area—if she couldn’t win, she could retreat and wait for the police while ensuring that the girl escaped the man’s grasp.  

Just as she was about to tell Zhou Tiantian to call the police immediately, she was stopped by Zhou Tiantian’s firm hand. Her expression was calm and serious. At first, Lin Zhizhi thought Zhou Tiantian was trying to stop her from acting impulsively.  

But to her surprise, Zhou Tiantian had already called the police without her even noticing.

“I’ve already called the police. Are you sure about this? Don’t act recklessly.” Zhou Tiantian’s tone was serious and firm.  

“Don’t worry, I’ve got this.” Lin Zhizhi replied with equal seriousness.  

She moved behind the man. At that moment, his hand was resting lower on the girl’s waist. Seeing that he was completely relaxed and off guard, Lin Zhizhi seized the opportunity—she delivered a powerful kick straight to the back of his knee joint.

The man instantly collapsed onto his knees. Without giving him a chance to react, she grabbed his wandering hand, twisted his arm forcefully, and pressed it against his back. Then, she drove her knee into the back of his neck, pinning him down.  

The man struggled desperately, but every time he tried to get up, the pain forced him back down. Yet, he still cursed angrily: “Let me go! What right do you have to grab me? If you don’t let go, you’d better watch out—I won’t be so nice!”  

With every word he spat out, Lin Zhizhi applied more pressure. As expected, the man was weak—his whole body was just skin and bones. That was why she had been able to subdue him so easily.  

Zhou Tiantian stepped forward to help hold him down, and soon, the surrounding crowd also gathered. A few men even stepped up to assist in restraining the man.  

Before long, the police arrived. They took the man into custody, while a female officer comforted the terrified girl.  

Lin Zhizhi and Zhou Tiantian were also taken to the police station to cooperate with the investigation and give their statements.  

At the station, they found out that someone else had reported the incident before them.  

Hearing this, Lin Zhizhi felt an indescribable emotion. She and Zhou Tiantian exchanged a glance and smiled, understanding each other without needing words.  

Regarding the incident, Lin Zhizhi knew she could never just stand by and watch. If she had the ability to stop something like this, she had to step forward.

However, she also understood the importance of assessing her own capabilities—helping others should always be done while ensuring personal safety, such as calling the police as the first response.  

She recalled a famous saying: If I stand by and do nothing today, then when disaster befalls me tomorrow, there will be no one to raise a banner in my name.
