Chapter 3: Playing It Cool
The weather was lovely today — bright sunshine with a gentle breeze — the perfect day for a picnic, Lin Zhizhi thought as she drove with music playing softly in the background.
She glanced at the scenery outside the car window.
As she passed by a café, a memory from the original plot suddenly came to mind. According to the storyline, today was the day when Song Nuan, with the enthusiastic help of her roommates, would put on makeup and a new dress.
One of her roommates’ boyfriends — who happened to be Lu Yi’s roommate — would be roped into playing matchmaker.
The plan was to set up a meeting between Song Nuan and Lu Yi.
However, because Lu Yi had bluntly rejected every girl’s confession since enrolling, they couldn’t be too obvious.
Instead, they would pretend that the roommate had just started dating his girlfriend and wanted to invite her roommates out for a meal.
But being the only guy there would seem awkward, so he would invite Lu Yi and the other roommates to join.
After recalling the plot, Lin Zhizhi chuckled to herself.
How could such an interesting event happen without me — the so-called “vicious ex-girlfriend”? Oh wait, correction — the official girlfriend.
Lin Zhizhi also remembered that Song Nuan would be wearing a black dress today, while she herself was dressed in white. With an amused smirk, she thought to herse lf, Well, well, this just got a whole lot more interesting.
She slipped on her sunglasses with one hand, gripping the steering wheel with the other. Pressing down slightly on the accelerator, she sped up toward the school.
After all, she was a diligent student. Only after finishing class could she head over to witness this crucial plot point.
Lin Zhizhi was a Dance Major in the Art Department, but this particular class was a theory lecture. At least she didn’t have to worry about sweating through practice and being late for the plot point.
She entered the classroom just as the bell rang. The teacher was already standing at the podium. Since Lin Zhizhi had only recently transmigrated into this body, she had taken a few days off. Coincidentally, this teacher had classes on all those missed days.
This particular teacher was notoriously known as the “Teacher Exterminator.” someone who absolutely despised students arriving late or leaving early. Not only had Lin Zhizhi skipped several of her classes, but today she had almost been late as well. She stepped into the room at the exact moment the bell rang — hitting the teacher’s biggest pet peeve right on the mark.
In terms of dance skills and ability, Lin Zhizhi was undoubtedly one of the top students in her class. However, her theoretical knowledge was not as impressive. As a result, Teacher Exterminator frequently called on her to answer questions throughout the lesson.
Fortunately, Lin Zhizhi had completely merged with the Original Owner’s memories. Everything the Original Owner knew was now second nature to her.
During the days after her transmigration, while adjusting to this new life, she had deliberately read through the Original Owner’s professional textbooks to better understand her life.
Whether it was a blessing in disguise or a side effect of transmigration, Lin Zhizhi found that her memory had improved significantly. Answering the questions posed in class was now a breeze.
However, being called on repeatedly throughout the entire class — standing up and sitting down over and over — was exhausting. It suddenly occurred to Lin Zhizhi that she was still pregnant. So, when Teacher Exterminator called on her once again, after answering the question, she simply remained standing instead of sitting back down.
Teacher Exterminator: “Lin Zhizhi, what are you doing? Do you plan to keep standing while answering questions? Don’t think that just because you got a few questions right, you know everything.”
Lin Zhizhi: “Teacher, I was just thinking that since I understand today’s lesson so well, I might as well test myself more.”
Teacher Exterminator narrowed her eyes, clasped her hands behind her back, and said: “Oh? If you’re so good, why were your theoretical scores so poor before?”
Lin Zhizhi casually tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, her face softening into a gentle smile. “Well, I was just trying to ease the pressure on my classmates. After all, everyone knows how outstanding I am when it comes to practical dance skills.”
“If I were to rank first in both theory and practical dance… well, that would be a bit embarrassing. Don’t you think so, Teacher?”
Teacher Exterminator: “…”
Innocent Classmates Who Got Dragged Into This: “…”
After class ended, as Lin Zhizhi hurried off to witness the plot point, a video of a beautiful girl in a white dress, standing calmly beside her seat while confidently confronting the notoriously feared Teacher Exterminator — all with a gentle smile on her face — began to spread like wildfire on the school forum.
She seemed entirely unaware of how much she was showing off.
Of course, Lin Zhizhi had no idea this was happening.
