Chapter 12: Xie Yutang, You Must Live Well
After punching the man to the ground, Qi Beiguo tossed aside his crutch with his left hand and directly sat on top of Qin Muhan. Grabbing him by the collar, he started punching him over and over again!
Xie Yutang was startled at first. Realizing what was happening, she quickly stepped forward and grabbed Qi Beiguo’s hand.
“Brother Beiguo, stop! Don’t beat him to death!”
“Your hand’s about to get scraped!”
At her words, Qi Beiguo immediately curled his lips into a smile.
“It’s nothing. I’m not that delicate.”
Qin Muhan lay on the ground, his eyes and cheeks already swollen. He stared at Xie Yutang in disbelief.
She was actually holding another man’s hand, distressed because his skin was about to break?
Couldn’t she see that he was the one lying on the ground, much more seriously injured?
How could she be so heartless?!
“Xie Yutang!” Qin Muhan struggled to get up from the ground. “Who gave you permission to marry someone else? How could you marry another man? What about me? What am I supposed to do?”
What the hell?
Wrapped in the bedsheet, An Minghua’s head popped out, a giant question mark hanging over it.
Was this lunatic trying to sabotage Xie Yutang’s wedding?
“Qin Lie! Hurry up and deal with this disgraceful fool!”
Receiving the command, Qin Lie raised his leg and kicked.
“Qin Muhan, shut up already! Have some shame! You’ve embarrassed both me and your Little Uncle to no end!”
An Minghua was brimming with fury.
“What do you mean, what about you? You can go get tossed in a salad! Mix you with rice and vinegar, whatever tastes best!
What does Xie Yutang have to do with you? You won’t let her get married? How did I never notice how big your ego was before?!”
“Minghua!”
Qin Muhan had just managed to get up after being kicked by Qin Lie when he called out, only to be kicked again.
“You think you can call her Minghua?!”
Qin Muhan’s face was swollen like a pig’s head. After rolling a few times on the ground, he looked utterly wretched.
He still didn’t dare provoke Qin Lie, so he held back and muttered,
“Auntie… you clearly know that Xie Yutang and I were once in a relationship!”
“And you also said were! Were! Past tense! Do you understand that? It’s already over! You’re already in the past! If you want to go crazy, go somewhere else and do it!”
“Go home!” Qin Lie gave him another kick. Seeing Qin Muhan still unwilling to budge, he gave him yet another one.
He actually followed behind him, kicking him slowly step by step all the way back.
An Minghua looked toward Qi Beiguo and Xie Yutang.
“I’m sorry, the disgrace in our family is our fault as elders for not teaching him properly.”
“What does it have to do with you, Minghua?” Xie Yutang shook her head. “Looking back now, I can only blame my own youthful foolishness for choosing the wrong person.”
Qi Beiguo gave a soft snort.
“Good thing you chose wrong. If you’d chosen right, what would’ve become of me?”
“Sister An, don’t worry. I won’t take it to heart. I also beat him up — I don’t have to pay his medical bills, right?”
“Get going already!” An Minghua rolled her eyes at him. She handed the bedsheet to Xie Yutang.
“A wedding gift for the two of you.”
“Xie Yutang, you must live well!”
Xie Yutang’s eyes turned red. She hugged An Minghua.
“Minghua, I truly believe that meeting you has been the greatest blessing of my life. You must also take good care of yourself. Once I’ve settled down in the capital, I’ll write you a letter!”
“I know where Qi Beiguo lives. I’ll write to you first!”
In the Qin family courtyard, Qin Muhan returned in a wretched state. He Cuizhi was instantly overwhelmed with distress.
“What happened to you? Did you get into a fight with someone?”
Her concern, born from instinct, lasted only a moment. Noticing Qin Zhao’s dark expression, her face immediately twisted into blame.
“You’re a grown man already! How can you still get into fights like this? Didn’t your father tell you not to get involved in things outside our household?!”
Qin Lie summed it up in one sentence.
“He harassed a young woman and got beaten up by her boyfriend.”
“What?!”
“I… I saw it just now.” Qin Mianmian spoke timidly. “Brother suddenly rushed at that lady and tried to pull her—”
“Shut your mouth!” He Cuizhi roared, and Qin Mianmian flinched in fright.
“Sister-in-law, why won’t you let Mianmian speak?” An Minghua entered the courtyard, raising her eyebrows. “Look at Qin Muhan — he’s still hung up on her!”
Indeed, Qin Muhan’s eyes were vacant, his expression devastated. He kept muttering under his breath,
“Xie Yutang… how could you… how could you abandon me again…”
The words made An Minghua sick to her stomach.
“This… this—Muhan, how could you go and harass a young woman?!”
He Cuizhi wanted to say that Muhan clearly knew that girl — maybe it was she who seduced him.
But she swallowed the words. She knew Qin Zhao’s temperament well. Saying something like that would do no good.
“You’ve really been spoiled rotten! More and more unruly by the day! If you ask me, this year’s conscription — you’d better hurry off to the army and get some real discipline!”
“He’s not allowed to go!”
Qin Zhao’s face darkened; he was clearly furious.
“He’s already doing disgraceful things like pestering women — if he goes to the army and pulls something like this, would that not bring shame upon his father?!”
“Tomorrow, go to the Educated Youth Office and sign him up. Send him to the countryside!”
“Xie Yutang! You can’t! How can you really marry someone else?! How could you! Weren’t you the one who loved me most?!”
Qin Muhan suddenly snapped, shouting hysterically as he rushed toward the courtyard gate. An Minghua, who happened to be near the gate, was almost knocked over.
Qin Lie reacted swiftly, pulling her into his arms to shield her. The motion tugged at his wound, and he gave a muffled groan.
An Minghua’s heart tightened. She immediately raised her hand and struck the side of Qin Muhan’s neck. Without even checking if he had passed out, her hand was already on Qin Lie.
“Did that pull your wound? Where is it? Let me see!”
“It’s nothing.” Qin Lie gently gathered her hand into his palm. “The courtyard’s a complete mess right now.”
Seeing Qin Muhan act like a madman, He Cuizhi finally panicked.
She couldn’t understand it — who exactly was this Xie Yutang? Wasn’t Muhan obsessed with Minghua? When did he start liking this Xie Yutang?
And to go this crazy over her?!
Qin Zhao was so furious his anger went straight to his head. Whatever elegance he had once learned from An Tingbai had completely vanished. His face twisted in fury.
“You disgraceful brat! I’m going to the Educated Youth Office right now to register you!!”
Qin Mianmian had never seen such a scene. The little girl stood plastered against the wall, silently crying in fear.
It was Ping’an, oddly enough, who looked most at ease. No one knew how he had climbed onto the beam of the courtyard’s wheelbarrow, but there he sat, resting his chin in his palms, eyes gleaming as he watched the drama unfold.
“Mianmian, come here.” An Minghua waved to the little girl.
“Your brother’s fine. He’s just young, hot-blooded, and going through heartbreak — a little madness is normal. He’ll be better in a few days. Don’t be afraid!”
He Cuizhi, hearing Qin Zhao’s words, instantly calmed down. She wiped her tears and stood up, turning toward him.
“There’s no need to rush! Look at the time — we should eat first! Let this disgrace lie there for now! You’re not hungry, but what about Minghua and Ping’an? And Qin Lie still has injuries!”
