Comments from the live stream flooded in:
[ I’ve lost my mind.]
[Who would believe this isn’t a confession? This is just the appetizer. Look at the other two pairs, it’s clearly ‘not familiar’ and ‘don’t want to be together.’]
[Is this really not a relationship? This feels like a prologue! Look at the other two pairs; they’re clearly ‘not familiar’ and ‘don’t want to be together.’]
[Every time they cut from the other two pairs to this one, I feel like the vibe is completely different.]
[I have to say, they’re so good at this. How do they manage to be so non-greasy… sniffle, sniffle, Chi Yizhen talking about the past made his eyes red; it’s heartbreaking.]
[We’re all feeling for him; don’t even mention e-god getting hit while standing on the side! It feels like some special treatment.]
Chi Yizhen originally intended to show a touched expression, but he pulled away from He Tiao’s touch and asked very seriously, “You’re handling barbecue, don’t touch my hair.”
He Tiao, realizing his mistake, said, “I’m sorry.”
Chi Yizhen then instructed, “Go buy me some bubble tea to make amends.”
He Tiao: ?
So, he was sent off to the neighboring shop to buy bubble tea.
The director reminded him off-screen, “Are you using your own money or production funds?”
He Tiao returned and told Chi Yizhen, “The money is with you.”
Chi Yizhen replied, “…Never mind.”
He Tiao said, “But it’s okay; I have some personal savings.”
[ I heard what the director just said; they haven’t officially started, but are they already spending money?]
[I can’t stop laughing; are they adding to their character development?]
[A guy running a stall, with personal savings, and a master chef…]
Chi Yizhen watched as He Tiao turned away and headed to the neighboring bubble tea shop. Meanwhile, the owner of the adjacent bubble tea shop was still teaching Liu Rumen how to make bubble tea. The background music was changed to rock by the musician in training, who was now frantically selecting new products.
The two production teams were working together, and one director felt like he was in dire straits, while the other director had a serene expression, gazing lovingly at He Tiao.
Unfortunately, He Tiao had little experience buying drinks for others. When Liu Rumen asked what they wanted, he hesitated and looked at Chi Yizhen, who was sitting alone, engrossed in his phone, seemingly playing a game.
[Openly slacking off! Report him!]
[!!!]
[This is just like me at work…]
[It’s so hard not to slack off during an all-day live broadcast, but it feels so real!]
[I’m starting to believe the online rumors that E-God is a mommy’s boy; he seems so helpless…]
Chi Yizhen felt a lot of pressure here, especially since his opponent was Yu Yuxing. To turn the tables, he had to make a comeback in the entertainment industry, and the reason Yu Yuxing wanted to destroy the original host was probably due to this face, right?
If he could make a successful comeback, Yu Yuxing wouldn’t stand a chance.
The opportunity was right here, and Chi Yizhen was worried about not having a company. This was a chance to seize some resources.
Sheng Xin’s family was wealthy, and it would be quite easy to seek revenge if they tried to seize him. What if he took advantage of Zhang Miya still being angry and convinced her to sign him?
But Xianggua wasn’t even an actor agency. Asking me to join a talent show at this age…
Moreover, the idea of becoming a talent show star terrified Chi Yizhen, especially the thought of dealing with the material produced by such stars. He doubted he could desensitize himself to that.
Thinking about these things gave Chi Yizhen a headache, so he decided to play a game in this new world to distract himself. The game he used to play in his original world didn’t offer any meals, but this new in-game guide was better than nothing.
As he opened the game, he began to worry about which male character to choose. However, just as he was pondering his choice, He Tiao returned, and the viewers in the live chat noticed Chi Yizhen playing the game.
[Aren’t you two a couple? Isn’t this a new female-oriented mobile game from Star Tracks?]
[Male characters from historical periods? Is Chi Yizhen choosing the main character to romance?]
[ don’t think they’ve even revealed the voice actors yet; it’s like a closed beta.]
[E-God’s expression, hahaha!]
He Tiao asked, “What do you want to drink?”
Chi Yizhen replied, “I’ll have what you’re having.”
He Tiao shrugged, “I don’t know what I want either.”
Chi Yizhen sighed and glanced at He Tiao, feeling that this man might not be to his liking anymore. He picked up his phone and walked away while still choosing his in-game character. As he walked, he addressed the camera.
“I’m not slacking off; I’m just enriching my character development, you know?”
He Tiao nodded earnestly. “This isn’t an advertisement, but you can check out our new game, ‘Touching Souls.'”
Chi Yizhen asked, “Is it from your company?”
“I didn’t even pay attention.”
Chi Yizhen, still distracted by the game, hadn’t been paying much attention when he opened it.
[Chi, have some self-control! Starting tomorrow, your man will go from being a billionaire CEO to a struggling barbecue stall owner!]
[Star Tracks really has it all figured out… CEO sacrifices his image for advertising…]
Chi Yizhen asked, “When will they announce the voice actors? Can you get me some free vouchers?”
He Tiao earnestly refused, saying, “You’re just my wife on the variety show.”
[Damn! How can I not read between the lines?!!!]
[It’s really hard not to overthink…]
Chi Yizhen nodded in a sulky manner, approached the menu, and ordered a large fruit tea. He then struck up a conversation with the musician, Lui Rumen, who was dating the actress.
“Hello, I’m your neighbor.”
Lui Rumen had a punk-rock appearance, with a wolf’s tail hairstyle, and although her face was sweet, her edgy style with earrings and lip piercings was eye-catching. She used to be an underground singer and skyrocketed to fame last year after participating in a music variety show. She still had her unique style, and her fanbase was split equally between fans and haters. Her concerts often turned into large gatherings for the LGBTQ+ community.
Lui Rumen had only learned about Chi Yizhen after the official announcement. The man in front of her was tall and slender but far from unattractive.
Lui Rumen nodded with enthusiasm and said, “Your partner mentioned that he’s covering the expenses for our shop today, so feel free to have a few extra drinks.”
Chi Yizhen:?
[Wasn’t it about the private stash of money?]
[Wasn’t it about solidifying their characters?]
[Isn’t this just He Tiao’s character as a domineering CEO?]
Chi Yizhen turned to look at He Tiao beside him. To his surprise, He Tiao confidently nodded and said, “Is there a problem with the hidden identity of the barbecue shop owner, who’s actually a rich heir who has to take over the family business if he doesn’t work hard at the stall?”
[The teasing in this interaction is so fun to watch!]
[He Tiao is really playing up his role as the domineering CEO!]
[I’m convinced He Tiao is genuinely interested in Chi Yizhen. He just referred to him as his ‘wife’ on the show!]
