Beast God! He will have a working ox!
For farming, the significance of an ox was a game-changer.
A well-tamed ox is strong, patient, and has a relatively gentle temperament.
So how could farming be done without one?
This calf is also injured and weak, so why not bring it back to the tribe? And it’s still young, so it’s a good time to domesticate it!
During its recovery, Wen Ze could focus on “building a bond” and hoped it would be ready to help out once it grew up.
Wen Ze’s eyes sparkled, and the more he thought about it, the more excited he became. His beast ears twitched wildly, and the sounds he heard seemed to pass right through his ears.
He was so happy physically and mentally that even his nose stopped working.
Staring at the calf, he chuckled and was about to walk toward it.
But suddenly, a strong arm stopped him.
“Huh?” He looked up at Zhuo Mu, and after a few seconds, he came back to his senses. “Ah, I got so excited to see the cow that I forgot to ask you. Can we not kill this calf? I want to take it home and raise it.”
Zhuo Mu replied, “You mean this young slow-moving animal? We can spare it, but you can’t take it away.”
Wen Ze didn’t understand: “Are you saying it’s too heavy?”
He wanted to ask Zhuo Mu for help, but it might be too much trouble for him. Maybe he should call Yin He over? Yin He’s beast form was a panda, and he was very strong.
“It’s not because it’s heavy…”
Before he could finish, Wen Ze heard a series of urgent “thumping” sounds, as if the ground had turned into a drum and huge drumsticks were pounding down without stopping.
A shiver ran down his spine, and he quickly turned his head. What he saw made his blood run cold—a huge adult cow. Its body was yellow-brown, with two curved, sharp horns aimed at them.
It was panting heavily and charging toward them angrily!
Even with its head lowered, the cow was definitely taller than two meters, and its size was impressively large, with strong muscles all over its body.
Not to mention getting hit by one of its horns, even just a blow from its head would be too much for him to handle!
The cow closed the distance in the blink of an eye. The threat of death made Wen Ze’s face turn pale, his pupils shrink, and his scream got stuck in his throat.
His body was so tense that he even forgot to take a defensive stance!
He was going to die!
In an instant, the atmosphere next to him changed.
Zhuo Mu, who was well-prepared, changed himself into his beast form. The space in the woods was narrow, and this time, he did not hold back his brute force.
Suddenly, a series of cracking sounds rang out, and all the trees within a dozen meters of the giant snake were swept down by its tail!
Then, with a sharp “crack,” the tail struck the side of the cow’s body.
The cow howled in pain. Its already wide eyes seemed to split open, and it let out a sad cry.
This massive creature, like a kite with a broken string, was whipped by Zhuo Mu’s tail and sent flying a few meters.
If not for the trees cushioning its fall, it would have been sent further away!
The trees it crashed into were snapped in half!
And the impact sent birds and animals flying through the forest!
The scene was truly terrifying!
The huge snake’s strong body slid past Wen Ze, and with a rustle, it moved forward.
Its head, bigger than the trees, blocked out the sky and the sun.
It slowly lowered its head, its cold vertical eyes fixed on the twitching cow on the ground, then suddenly it opened its huge mouth.
A powerful and intimidating hiss came.
The sound seemed to take on a physical form and the air around them was shaking. Suddenly, a violent wind blew through the forest!
Although he was clearly trying to intimidate the big cow, Wen Ze, who was in the center of the wind, still turned pale and instinctively raised his hands to cover his ears.
Blood surged wildly through his body, and a mix of shock and fear hit him all at once, and his ears started buzzing.
He forgot to close his eyes and stared at the scene in front of him.
In the deep and dense forest, a piece of open space was created by the Zhuo Mu’s beast form, and a beam of sunlight shone straight down at him.
There were countless tiny particles in the air, and Zhuo Mu, standing at the center of it, looked magical.
The injured cow lay motionless on the ground and was too scared to move.
It had initially been knocked around and disoriented, but it was still startled by Zhuo Mu’s hiss, causing its legs to go completely limp.
Among the broken tree trunks, the giant snake with white scales and red eyes stood upright, glaring coldly at the cow lying on the ground.
He was much larger than the cow, and his presence was far more intimidating.
In his previous world, where information was easily accessible, Wen Ze had seen all sorts of huge, weird, and fantasy-like images.
But all those pictures together didn’t hit him as hard as this moment.
The giant python was both frightening and amazing.
With a whoosh, the wind swept through the trees, and in the rustling of the leaves, Zhuo Mu turned back into his human form.
Wen Ze slowly lowered the hand that had been covering his ears. His heart was still racing, and he couldn’t calm down for a long time.
He opened his mouth and barely managed to find his voice. “Thank you… If it weren’t for you, I definitely would have died here today.”
Zhuo Mu, who was tall and straight, stood in the middle of the open space. He looked over and asked calmly, “You really want this young, slow-moving animal? You even ignored the scent of the adult one.”
It wasn’t just the scent; there were actually tracks of the large cow on the ground. However, Wen Ze had been so focused on the calf that he hadn’t paid close attention to it.
At this moment, Wen Ze felt a little embarrassed by Zhuo Mu’s words.
“Is it not allowed?” he asked, feeling a bit guilty.
Zhuo Mu could tell that Wen Ze didn’t know much about this slow-moving animal, so he explained, “This animal is a herbivore. It can grow to a very large size, live a long life, and its meat is very tender. Even though its horns look scary, it’s actually pretty clueless. It spends most of its time munching on grass and doesn’t even notice predators, not to mention Beastmen.”
“Since they’re tasty and easy to hunt, a lot of tribes used to go on huge hunts for this slow-moving animal, and now these creatures that were once everywhere are nearly gone.”
“So, several tribes, including our tribe, reached an agreement that we are not allowed to hunt this animal for 15 years.”
Twelve years had passed since the agreement was made, which was why Zhuo Mu hadn’t recognized the animal’s cry at first.
Wen Ze suddenly understood. “No wonder you just knocked it away instead of killing it.”
Zhuo Mu nodded lightly and glanced at the large cow next to him. “Apart from running for its life, this slow-moving animal only speeds up in one situation.”
Wen Ze asked, “To protect its offspring?”
Zhuo Mu nodded. “Yes. When their young offspring are threatened, they’ll fight to the death with their enemies. Also, there’s a special bond between the mother and her offspring. If you forcefully take the offspring away from the mother, the mother will soon die.”
Wen Ze understood.
Though they hadn’t directly killed the mother cow, taking the calf away was the same as killing it, which violated the agreement between the tribes.
At the same time, he once again admired how the Beastmen were protecting the species of this world in their own way.
“Is it possible to take both the calf and the mother?” Wen Ze asked.
“When the tribes came to an agreement, I wasn’t yet an adult, I heard that someone tried to lock it up and keep them for a few days before eating them. But once the slow-moving animal got scared, they tried to escape desperately. They were too strong to be kept in, and once they got out, they destroyed everything. In the end, they had no choice but to kill them.”
“Over the past few years, no one has hunted this slow-moving animal, but their behavior probably hasn’t changed much.”
Actually, it’s not just the slow-moving animal; adult wild animals are also hard to tame. That’s why Wen Ze decided to start with the young calf.
After hearing Zhuo Mu’s words, Wen Ze frowned deeply and was silent for a long time, but he couldn’t come up with a plan.
Zhuo Mu didn’t rush him but stood quietly in an open area to prevent the cow from suddenly attacking.
Wen Ze stared at the young calf with a look of longing, not wanting to give up at all.
He decided to figure something out and walked over to the young calf, then squatted down next to it.
There was a large pool of deep red blood beneath the calf’s body. The calf was weak, its eyelids were drooping, and it didn’t even scream. Only its strong belly rose and fell slightly with its breathing.
The broken branch that penetrated its thigh was very deep. If it was pulled out right away, it might cause heavy bleeding, and the calf would die.
What to do?
Wen Ze turned to look at Zhuo Mu. “Do you have any hemostatic medicine with you?”
Zhuo Mu answered, “I have some, but not a lot. Usually, I make hemostatic medicine right after picking the ingredients.”
Wen Ze nodded in understanding. In the beast world, storage conditions are limited, and many herbs lose their effectiveness after being stored for too long.
So, it would be best to wait until the medicine was ready before removing the branch.
“If we don’t help this calf… I mean this slow-moving animal, it’ll definitely die, right?” Wen Ze confirmed.
“Mm,” Zhuo Mu said, “The large slow-moving beast wasn’t here just now; it probably went to find a way. Wild animals with serious injuries won’t live long without treatment.”
Wen Ze’s expression grew slightly serious as he reached out his hand to the calf, wanting to check its current condition.
Just then, the cow, which had been too frightened to move after being scared by Zhuo Mu, suddenly moved as it placed its front legs on the ground. It was trying to get up.
Its big eyes were filled with sadness, and it let out low, mournful mooing sounds.
Wen Ze reassured it, “Don’t worry, I won’t harm it.”
He quickly checked the calf, confirming it wouldn’t die immediately, then stood up and asked Zhuo Mu for his opinion.
“I’m thinking, can we carry this calf back to the tribe?”
Zhuo Mu noticed the unfamiliar name he called the slow-moving animal but didn’t bother correcting him. “What about the large slow-moving animal?”
“I’ll try to drive it away. Didn’t you say that it moves very slowly when it’s not frightened? I’ll be careful and won’t get hurt by it. If it stays with the calf, it won’t die.”
The more Wen Ze talked, the more he thought it was possible. “And since it cares so much, it might even follow us.”
Zhuo Mu quickly made a decision. “Okay, let’s try. I’ll carry the young slow-moving beast.”
Wen Ze’s eyes lit up, and he gratefully said, “Thank you, I really appreciate your help.”
Zhuo Mu waved it off, quickly walked over, bent down, and flipped it by grabbing its front and back legs.
The calf was heavy, and it made a loud thud when it hit the ground, but Zhuo Mu stayed calm and didn’t even flinch.
He then turned, grabbed the calf’s front and back legs where it wasn’t hurt, tensed his body, and with a grunt, used his waist, stomach, and back to lift the calf.
Wen Ze was amazed when he saw his impressive muscles as he carried the calf, which was way bigger than him.
Beast God! What kind of crazy strength is this?
“You… you won’t change in your beast form?”

TL’s Note: Just a heads-up! I made a small adjustment to the translation and swapped “bull” with “cow” to match the future chapter. 🐄✨ I know the original says “bull,” but I did it to keep things smooth and avoid confusion! Also, in the first part, I kept “Ox” since they didn’t really use cows for farming. The title’s all good, though, since it mentions two cows—no changes needed there! Not sure why it switches up in the chapter itself. 😉😅 Hope that makes sense!
