Chapter 79: Exclusive to Jinjiang 1/3
A day and a half of preparation time was too short for a stage play, but for a program, there wasn’t much time to spare. It was all about excitement.
Fortunately, each teacher’s script wasn’t too long, and a significant portion of props, scenes, and dubbing had already been prepared. All they needed to do was familiarize themselves with the script, rehearse, and perfect a small portion of key props.
The interaction and collaboration among cosers were what the audience looked forward to the most.
Just after the groups were formed, everyone followed their captains to their respective rehearsal rooms.
The screen was divided into four parts, with one lens for each team. The program team added a countdown sound effect, making it seem very tense.
The first few groups rushed in, and everyone was running around, feeling crazy. How could they possibly complete this in such a short time? Normally, stage plays take several months to rehearse!
Everyone was in a hurry. In comparison, the two in the last lens seemed particularly leisurely.
Octopus Teacher asked, “Want to take a break later?”
FuFu blinked his golden eyes and said, “I’ll read the script first.”
“Haha, it feels like it’s the first time we’re seeing them talk alone on stage. Why does their tone sound so casual? It feels like an old couple.”
“Octopus Teacher really doesn’t look like Octopus Teacher! He’s asking if his wife wants to rest; is he afraid she’ll get tired? Hahaha.”
The rehearsal rooms for the four teams were arranged in a “field” shape.
So, although Song FuZhi and Shi Zhang entered their own rooms, they could still hear the noisy sounds from the next room. Sometimes, cosers from other groups would pass by the transparent glass wall, some deliberately doing it for the program’s effect, peeking inside to see the progress of the two teachers.
The two teachers were quite disciplined in the transparent rehearsal room. Octopus Teacher quietly ate dinner, and FuFu was quietly reading the script.
The barrage had a bunch of people stretching their heads, saying they wanted to come closer and see what script it was.
FuFu flipped through the middle, raised an eyebrow, and looked at Octopus. “There’s a fight scene.”
Octopus nodded. “Okay?”
The barrage laughed, saying they had guessed it right. There was actually a fight.
“We’ll practice,” FuFu said.
Octopus nodded. “I’ll teach you; it’ll be quick.”
With just a few simple sentences, Song FuZhi buried himself in the script again. Occasionally encountering problems, he would bring them up, and the two would chat for a bit.
In fact, this part of the stage play was prearranged through communication with the program team. Originally, Song FuZhi could have finished reading Shi Zhang’s script early, and the program team could have helped them finalize the grouping. However, they decided not to disrupt the original flow of the program.
Everyone on stage indeed had the freedom to choose their partners, mainly based on the double-person script. Besides FuFu, no one dared to team up individually with Teacher Octopus.
Song Fuzhi had only a rough idea of the important plot points in advance, and he only now saw the specific content.
So, after Song Fuzhi finished reading, Teacher Octopus asked him, “How is it?”
Song Fuzhi raised an eyebrow lightly and asked, “Did you adapt the script based on the original work yourself?”
“Mostly,” honestly admitted Shi Zhang, “I haven’t written my own script in many years, so I had a master polish it.”
Song Fuzhi stared at the script and said, “It’s well written, but I’m afraid I won’t be able to act it out.”
“Just do your best.” Shi Zhang gently embraced Song Fuzhi.
Song Fuzhi closed the script by saying, “Alright then, let’s start rehearsing quickly.”
– Do you both remember that you’re still live??
– Haha, the atmosphere of the “husband” team is so domestic, it’s like watching my parents discuss where to go for summer vacation.
Shi Zhang ignored the barrage on the screen, saying to the camera, “Well, we’re signing off for now. Bye.”
After saying this, he covered the lens with his palm, and the live stream of Teacher Octopus’ team went black.
The sudden end of the broadcast caught fans off guard, and they complained, but they also knew Teacher Octopus wouldn’t appear on screen again tonight. So, everyone flocked to other live streams, hoping to catch Teacher Octopus and FuFu sneaking away.
The other three teams were busy discussing scripts, preparing presentations, and arranging props and costumes. After a while, someone took a break by the screen to see what the audience was saying.
Fei Fei, sweating profusely, still looked lively. Reading the barrage aloud, word by word, “Are Teacher Octopus and FuFu rehearsing on the side? Damn, they ask about their team as soon as they go live; don’t they care about our team?”
The barrage jokingly called Fei Fei stupid for choosing to ask about their team.
“Both teachers have long left the scene; they probably went home to rehearse. It’s too crowded here,” Fei Fei said with envy. “It’s great to have just two people in a team; you don’t need a large space to rehearse.”
– Went home? Do they live in the same house? Hahaha.
Fei Fei, being honest, nodded. “Yeah, they…”
“Fei Fei!” Xiao Mi Liang shouted from not far away. “Stop chatting, it’s your turn!”
Fei Fei said, “Coming, coming,” quickly told the audience, “Let’s chat later,” and ran over to rehearse.
– Ah, Fei Fei, don’t leave after saying only half!
– He just said, “Yeah,” right? Teacher Octopus and FuFu live in the same house, QWQ.
– Not surprising at all.
– Guessed it.
– Guessed it.
– Hope I can remain this calm when I see them perform the day after tomorrow. (Folding hands)
Indeed, Song Fuzhi and Shi Zhang went home shortly after the broadcast ended. They removed their makeup in the car.
On the way, Song Fuzhi kept reading the script and occasionally discussed details with Shi Zhang.
“We only have one day for rehearsal; it’s quite nerve-wracking,” Song Fuzhi contemplated.
Shi Zhang pointed to the front part of the script and said, “The earlier scenes don’t need to be performed so meticulously; our focus is on the final plot. After all, we’re going on stage for that, haha.”
“That’s true,” Song Fuzhi said, raising an eyebrow. “But I didn’t expect the earlier scenes to be written so well. It won’t have the same flavor if we don’t act them out properly.”
Back home, Shi Zhang went over the music, dubbing, costumes, and other preparations he had made with Song Fuzhi. Song Fuzhi listened attentively and offered many suggestions.
In no time, it was late at night, and Song Fuzhi was still staying up to watch instructional videos on fight scenes, mimicking and gesturing. He pulled Shi Zhang aside and insisted on giving it a try.
Seeing it was too late, Shi Zhang pinched the back of Song Fuzhi’s neck, feeling a bit sorry. “How about sleeping first, and we can practice in the rehearsal room tomorrow morning. Besides, we can cut down on the fight scenes; the effect won’t be compromised.”
“No, no,” Song Fuzhi shook his head. “That tension would be lost. If we’re going to perform, let’s give it our best.”
In fact, Teacher Octopus initially had a simple idea, with everything aimed at showing affection. The plot in the beginning was just a buildup for the grand finale. Unexpectedly, Professor Song took it too seriously and started delving into the earlier content.
Professor Song’s gaze was determined, and after a few seconds of eye contact with Shi Zhang, he knew he couldn’t shake Song Fuzhi’s determination. Shi Zhang slightly raised his chin and said, “Then let’s practice in the living room.”
