Not long ago, Su Yi had stayed up late reading a novel called “Rebirth of the 80s Lucky Wife.”
The female lead in the book was named Bai Ruolin.
In the original story, Bai Ruolin met Qin Yunfeng in the army. Qin Yunfeng gave up his rural engagement for her, thinking it was fate, but after marriage, she discovered he was a calculating “phoenix man” who approached her for her family’s wealth.
Shortly after their marriage, Qin Yunfeng used her family’s connections to advance in his career. Her mother-in-law was eager to bring her little sister-in-law to the city for a better life, leading to a series of hardships including mother-in-law’s nagging, little sister-in-law’s bullying, and her husband urging her to be sensible in the tragic later years.
Upon her rebirth, Bai Ruolin vowed to cut ties with the selfish and hypocritical phoenix man, Qin Yunfeng. Using the spiritual spring space she gained from her rebirth, she transformed herself, dealt with the scum man, and set her sights on Zhou Jinchuan, a man with a powerful background, launching a fierce pursuit.
However, the author portrayed the female lead as contradictory and indecisive. She wanted to cut ties with the scum man but couldn’t accept the fact that he was getting married and sought revenge crazily. This behavior continued even after her rebirth, where she became even more devoted to the male lead, Zhou Jinchuan, using all sorts of tactics, which led to readers criticizing the story and the author for not updating it.
When Su Yi first read the ending, she couldn’t help but curse, even declaring to defend the male lead’s innocence to the death. Little did she expect to be punished by transmigrating into the novel.
No wonder the name Qin Yunfeng sounded familiar to her from the beginning. In the book, his name was often replaced by the words “scumbag,” so she didn’t immediately recognize it.
In the story, Su Yi’s character was always a minor cannon fodder, unworthy of even a full name. She was portrayed as a pitiful woman who came to the army to find her fiancĂ© but was chased away by the two of them before even entering the gate.
What’s even more despicable is that upon learning that Su Yi was coming to find him, Qin Yunfeng instructed his family to find a way to stop her from coming. His family, fearing that Su Yi might ruin their son’s prospects, became hostile towards her and even went as far as intentionally pushing her into the water on the way.
After the original host fell into the water, she was rescued by villagers working in the fields. However, she had ingested too much water in the river and sustained injuries upon being pulled out.
When she finally reached the army base, before even entering the gate, Qin Yunfeng, who had been called urgently, managed to persuade her to go back.
Upon returning to the countryside, she faced a broken engagement. Qin Yunfeng shifted all the blame onto her, leading her already unsupportive family to become even more disdainful towards her.
Bai Ruolin, fearing her appearance, kept insisting that she(Su Yi) should marry, claiming she couldn’t trust Qin Yunfeng if she didn’t. To prove his loyalty, Qin Yunfeng arranged for her to marry an older man who had been divorced.
Due to the prolonged time in the water causing physical harm, Su Yi couldn’t conceive and was resold to the mountains by the elderly man. She spent the rest of her life in seclusion in the mountains…
This storyline is truly a mess.
Poor Su Yi, what did she do to deserve this?
Could it be that she was brought into this situation just because she declared her determination to defend the male lead’s innocence to the death?
Thinking about it, the plot of the book really did change from the moment she fell into the water. In the original story, it was villagers who rescued the main character, but this time, she was saved by a soldier.
[But I don’t even know who the male lead is! Where is Zhou Jinchuan?]
[For the current situation, this marriage has been called off, but I can’t be foolishly persuaded to go back. They must publicly annul the marriage and take full responsibility.]
[They also need to provide me with a written statement, compensate me for my mental damages. I refuse to be a part of their game!]
[Such a despicable phoenix man should be left to the female lead. After all, readers say they are a perfect match. I suggest locking in the relationship! Don’t bother Zhou Jinchuan!]
The crowd assumed Su Yi’s silence and bowed head indicated excessive sadness and began to condemn Qin Yunfeng and Bai Ruolin.
As for Zhou Jinchuan, he had just come out of the medical room moments earlier.
Seeing a crowd gathered at the gate and the girl he had rescued surrounded by people confronting the other two, he couldn’t resist moving closer, despite usually avoiding such commotions.
However, as he approached the crowd, he heard that strange voice once again.
Earlier at the medical room, the doctor had only mentioned that he might have experienced tinnitus after falling into the water and advised him to rest.
Now, hearing that voice again, mentioning his name, he couldn’t help but believe it.
Could it be that because he had jumped in to save her, he could now hear her thoughts?
Everyone was busy confronting the two individuals and didn’t notice Zhou Jinchuan’s arrival.
In the crowd,
Bai Ruolin, sensing the change in the situation, felt her palms sweating from the pressure.
Trying to tarnish Su Yi’s reputation, the crowd wasn’t buying it.
Attempting to clear her own name led to an embarrassing situation.
At this rate, it seemed like both she and Qin Yunfeng might not be able to stay in the army any longer.
After furrowing her brow in thought for a moment, Bai Ruolin bit her lip, her eyes welling up with tears as she said, “Comrade, please don’t say that. I genuinely didn’t know. If I had known, I would never have competed with her. We haven’t really been together yet, we’re still pure and clean. Let’s not contact each other again. Please treat your fiancĂ©e well.”
With that, she prepared to make a quick exit.
Not realizing it was a temporary measure, Qin Yunfeng was scared and quickly stopped her, “Ruo Lin, don’t leave. The one who should leave is her.”
Then, unable to contain his anger, he fiercely glared at Su Yi, “All because of your actions. Are you satisfied now?”
Su Yi coldly responded, “What a great stopgap. She says she won’t contact you, right? Then make her swear that she will never be with you in this lifetime.”
Upon hearing this, Bai Ruolin couldn’t maintain her act of being pitiful and gave Su Yi a fierce glare.
This woman is too ruthless!
Su Yi pretended not to notice and sighed, “Actually, why didn’t you two just openly admit it from the start? I’m not the kind of person who causes trouble for no reason. As long as you explain clearly, I’ll support both of you.”
“Unfortunately, you chose to treat me and everyone else like fools, changing your story every time. Clearly, it’s you two who are unfaithful, playing games behind everyone’s back, yet you turn around and blame me.”
“But I, Su Yi, am not interested in breaking you two up. As long as you clarify in front of everyone whether you are dating or not, if you say you are, I’ll immediately agree to call off this marriage.”
Upon hearing this, Qin Yunfeng’s eyes lit up with a glimmer of hope.
However, Bai Ruolin was much more cautious. Having denied it earlier, wouldn’t changing her stance now be like slapping herself in the face?
Seeing her hesitation, Qin Yunfeng quickly urged her in a low voice, “Ruolin, let’s just admit it now. Since she openly offered to support us, she probably won’t go back on her word.”
Bai Ruolin trembled slightly, tears welling up in her eyes as she glared at Qin Yunfeng, “Are you forcing me too?”
Qin Yunfeng was caught off guard by this public rebuke, his face filled with disbelief.
He felt somewhat uncomfortable. He had risked punishment to publicly declare his intentions to be with her. Su Yi had even agreed not to pursue the matter further. Why was she still unwilling to admit it? Could it be that all their previous promises were lies?
