Regarding the intimacy between the two, Su Yi didn’t feel anything in particular, but her body still instinctively reacted.
Su Yi took a deep breath, trying to dispel the discomfort in her chest.
As the car approached, Bai Ruolin, sitting in the back, saw someone at the door and quickly let go of her hand.
Qin Yunfeng also looked up and, upon recognizing the person at the door, was so startled that he lost his grip on the steering wheel.
The car overturned, and the two of them fell into a heap.
Qin Yunfeng didn’t have time to help Bai Ruolin up. Instead, he hurried to the door. “Su Yi, why are you here?”
Su Yi raised an eyebrow, “You seem surprised? I did tell you I was coming.”
A hint of guilt flashed in Qin Yunfeng’s eyes. “But didn’t I tell you not to come? Why aren’t you listening to me now?”
In a rush, he tried to pull her away, “This isn’t a place for you to be. It’s not good for others to see you here. Please go back quickly. I promise I will come home to see you during the Spring Festival, is that alright?”
A cold smile appeared in Su Yi’s eyes as she directly pushed his hand away.
In her heart, she felt it was not worth risking her life to see such a man.
Meanwhile, Bai Ruolin, standing behind Qin Yunfeng, was scrutinizing Su Yi with her eyes.
She had heard Big Brother Qin mention her before, only saying that she looked okay but was foolish and tacky.
Their elders had arranged their engagement, but Big Brother Qin had never agreed to it.
Big Brother Qin had promised to clarify things with her this Spring Festival, but he didn’t expect her to show up early.
The thought of this woman causing a scene and tarnishing their reputation made Bai Ruolin nervous. She might even face consequences. However, considering Big Brother Qin had called her timid and cowardly, she didn’t think the woman would dare to cause a scene in the courtyard.
Nevertheless, she was taken aback by the girl’s seductive face, which made her feel somewhat uneasy.
She was determined to have Qin Yunfeng send her away immediately.
” Big Brother Qin, is this comrade a relative of your family? Then, don’t just stand here. Take her out for a meal first.”
Qin Yunfeng quickly regained his composure and nodded, “She’s the younger sister of a neighbor from my village, just passing by to see me. I’ll take her with me now.”
Seeing the two of them harmonizing so well, Su Yi couldn’t help but mock, “Younger sister? So, in the city, you all call your fiancée younger sister?”
“And who are you then? Could it be that you’re his younger sister from the city?”
Bai Ruolin’s expression changed instantly when Su Yi exposed the situation, especially as many passersby stopped to watch.
“Why do you speak so rudely? Comrade Qin and I only have pure revolutionary friendship. Please don’t spread false accusations.”
Seeing her attempt to clear the air, Su Yi looked around and understood the situation.
She took the initiative to dispel the tension for the original host.
It was just a trick to feign innocence while stepping on others, as if it was something extraordinary.
“I have drunk more green tea than you have seen.”
“Comrade, what exactly is the relationship between you and my fiancé? Just now, you affectionately called Big Brother Qin, but now that everyone is here, you’ve changed to calling him Comrade.”
“And both of you were hugging and cuddling outside just now. The two comrades at the guard post and I saw it. Do you think I, a girl who just came from the countryside, could convince them to spread false accusations against you?”
People immediately understood the situation.
It turned out that this girl was Qin Yunfeng’s fiancée from the countryside, who had come from afar to find him. Unexpectedly, she bumped into the two of them embracing at the door upon their return.
These two truly deserved it. Acting secretive and flirtatious in front of everyone every day, as if everyone was blind. Now, they were caught red-handed by the rightful owner!
Originally, people thought it was fine for unmarried men and women, but now that they learned Qin Yunfeng had a fiancée, the expressions of everyone changed.
Seeing this, Qin Yunfeng glared at Su Yi.
He couldn’t believe that someone who used to struggle to complete a sentence now became so articulate.
“Don’t embarrass yourself here, come outside with me to talk!”
Su Yi quickly dodged his reaching hand and said, feeling wronged, “Can you stop trying to kick me out? I came to see you, but halfway here, I was robbed by thugs. I lost all my belongings and money, even the introduction letter. You see how disheveled I am, and you don’t even bother to ask what happened, you just want to send me back. Shouldn’t I have come? Did I embarrass you?”
“I didn’t mean to earlier. I barely escaped to get here, and the first thing I see is another woman hugging you. It made me uncomfortable. The public’s eyes are sharp; I believe everyone saw her interest in you. I didn’t intend to tarnish her reputation.”
The onlookers were enjoying the drama.
Seeing the girl speak with sincerity, without any belongings, looking weary but still graceful, it tugged at their hearts.
They couldn’t help but speak up, “Lieutenant Qin, the girl came all the way here. How can you just chase her away without a word? That’s not right.”
“Exactly, she was robbed on her way to find you, penniless. At the very least, you should let her stay for a while before deciding.”
“It’s true that appearances can be deceiving. He seemed so good to others usually, but turns out he’s just like anyone else. Each family in the army has its own story. He’s quite fortunate.”
Bai Ruolin was infuriated to see everyone siding with Su Yi in just a few words.
Normally, everyone would flatter her, but now, at a critical moment, they were helping an outsider instead of their comrade?
She thought she had been cautious enough in her interactions with Qin Yunfeng, but evidently, everyone had seen through it.
With this, she couldn’t deny that there was something between the two.
After a moment of thought, Bai Ruolin began to explain, “Comrade Qin and I do share common interests and had plans for further development. But we truly had no idea that his family had secretly arranged a marriage for him. If I had known, I definitely wouldn’t have gotten so close to him.”
Qin Yunfeng also took the opportunity to explain, “I never agreed to an engagement with her. We grew up together, and it was a joke by the elders in our hometown. It’s also my fault for being too kind to her out of pity. I never expected her to misunderstand.”
Su Yi blinked, “Misunderstanding or not, a simple call to the village would clear things up. The whole village knows about us.”
“You—” Qin Yunfeng couldn’t believe how sharp she was now.
“Su Yi, you’ve changed. I never thought you’d become so aggressive and full of lies,” Qin Yunfeng retorted.
Su Yi raised an eyebrow, “You haven’t changed. When you feel guilty, you still resort to shifting the blame.”
Qin Yunfeng, seeing her unyielding attitude, couldn’t help but grit his teeth and say, “Fine, believe what you want to believe. I respect the bond we had growing up together and don’t want to argue with you.”
“Let me reiterate, I always saw you as a sister. Private agreements between parents are not binding. My relationship with Comrade Bai Ruolin is pure and transparent. If you want to blame or scold anyone, direct it at me alone. Don’t tarnish her reputation.”
Bai Ruolin?
As soon as Su Ling heard this name, it hit her like a bolt of lightning, leaving her stunned.
Wasn’t this the name of the female lead from the novel she stayed up late to read recently?
