Shen Yu’an looked at the group of monkeys and silently marveled at their intelligence.
Although she had a desire to have a pet, she decided against getting a monkey. Otherwise, she might end up unintentionally kidnapping a little monkey and bringing it home.
Using her telekinesis, Shen Yu’an moved various fruits out of the space and spread a cloth on the ground. She placed some unpackaged snacks for the monkeys.
The monkeys’ eyes lit up when they saw the sudden abundance of food on the ground. They couldn’t wait and immediately started eating the snacks.
Before long, the open space outside was filled with food.
Shen Yu’an warned, “I have fulfilled my promise. If you try to steal food again, we won’t be so lenient.”
A few monkeys nodded in a seemingly human-like manner.
Just as Shen Yu’an was about to turn around and leave, the monkey king approached her and climbed onto her leg, making squeaking sounds.
“Hmm?”
Using one claw, the monkey king grabbed hold of Shen Yu’an’s dress and pulled her towards the cave. Shen Yu’an followed its force and walked inside.
The entrance of the cave was a bit low, so Shen Yu’an had to bend down to enter.
Once inside, everything became bright. The ground was covered with hay, and there were suspended hammocks made of branches hanging in mid-air.
The cave was not dark at all because there were several night pearls, each larger than her fist, illuminating the walls.
In addition, Shen Yu’an could see several wooden boxes in the corner on the ground.
The boxes were slightly opened due to the abundance of items inside, and Shen Yu’an could feel the light refracted by the night pearls hitting her eyes.
Was she seeing things correctly?
She had just glimpsed glittering gold ingots inside one of the boxes!
Could it be that these were the treasures collected by these monkeys?
Although Shen Yu’an felt a twinge of envy, she had no intention of taking advantage and stealing their belongings.
After all, it was just silver. She was confident that she would be able to earn even more silver in the future.
She was now even more curious about why the monkey king had brought her here.
She didn’t believe that it would kindly give her all these things. Could it be that it just wanted her to take a look?
After entering, the monkey king went straight to the corner and climbed onto the boxes filled with items.
“Squeak squeak~”
The monkey king tapped the box beneath it with its paw and then pointed outside.
Shen Yu’an asked uncertainly, “Are you suggesting to trade these items for food?”
The monkey king’s voice grew louder as it excitedly tapped the box beneath it.
Shen Yu’an’s eyes also lit up. This trade seemed like a sure win for her.
She walked up to the monkey king and exclaimed happily, “Deal!”
The monkey king jumped down from the box and nudged the items that had leaked out towards Shen Yu’an.
Shen Yu’an opened the box and took a look.
The items that had leaked out earlier were just the tip of the iceberg. After opening the box, Shen Yu’an saw a collection of gold, silver, and precious jewels inside.
She couldn’t help but wonder where these monkeys had obtained these treasures.
Shen Yu’an wasted no time and stored these items in her spatial storage. Then, she brought out more fruits and snacks.
Everyone took what they needed, and Shen Yu’an felt satisfied with her gains.
As she was about to turn around, Shen Yu’an caught a whiff of a rich and fragrant aroma of wine.
She sniffed the air and followed the direction from which the scent was coming.
She discovered a recessed area in the mountain wall, filled with crystal-clear liquid.
Shen Yu’an took a few steps forward. In her previous life, she had been quite the wine enthusiast. She even had a wine cabinet in her apartment dedicated to storing various types of wine.
Since coming to this world, she hadn’t touched a drop of alcohol. But now, she was captivated by the rich aroma of the wine she encountered.
Could this be the legendary Monkey Wine?
Shen Yu’an’s interest was piqued, and she turned to the monkey king, saying, “I’ll trade you more fruits for this wine.”
After some negotiations, Shen Yu’an not only added an extra portion of fruits to the cave but also brought out some unpackaged bread as an additional offering.
Shen Yu’an took out three pottery jars from her space and filled them with Monkey Wine. She decided to leave one jar in the space for herself to enjoy later.
This trip had been incredibly fruitful, and Shen Yu’an was satisfied with her gains. She bid farewell to the monkeys with joy and carried the two jars of Monkey Wine with her.
She had been away for quite some time, and she knew that her family must be worried about her. They might have been concerned that she had gotten lost. As she had expected, when she returned, the Shen family and their entourage were anxiously waiting for her at the same spot.
After waiting for another fifteen minutes, the group couldn’t sit still any longer. Despite Shen Yu’an’s usual resourcefulness, she was still just a young girl in her early teens.
Song Shi, filled with anxiety, said, “That girl, why is she taking so long in the outhouse? No, I need to go find her.”
Shen Rong restrained her and said, “Perhaps she accidentally got lost. You stay here; I’ll take our eldest son and search for her.”
Fei Yanchen and Zhang Wendong also emerged from the group and spoke at the same time, “I’ll go with you to search.”
As Fei Yanchen and Zhang Wendong exchanged a glance, they could both sense hostility in each other’s eyes.
Zhang Wendong furrowed his brows as he looked at Fei Yanchen, suspecting that his excessive attentiveness was due to an interest in Shen Yu’an, his cousin.
Fei Yanchen’s emotions surged within him as well.
Both of them simultaneously turned their heads away.
The others were unaware that Fei Yanchen and Zhang Wendong had fought countless battles in their minds during this brief moment.
Grandpa Shen spoke, “Then go and search, but don’t go too far.”
They were searching in the direction where Shen Yu’an had just left, but they hadn’t gone far when they bumped into Shen Yu’an returning with the jars in her hands.
Shen Yu’an knew they were worried about her and came to find her, so she greeted them with a smile.
Shen Rong had a stern expression on his face as he said, “The forest is so big, yet you dare to wander alone. Hurry back now, your mother and the others are worried.”
“Okay.”
Fei Yanchen reached out and took one of the jars from her hand, and Zhang Wendong quickly took the other one.
Shen Dalang, who was about to step forward and help, was stunned to see that these two outsiders were quicker than him. They hadn’t gone far from the resting spot of the Shen family, so they quickly returned.
Seeing the four of them come back so soon, along with Shen Yu’an, everyone felt relieved. They could faintly see the Shen family members resting in the distance, which reassured them.
Song Shi blamed, “Taking so long for a visit to the restroom, causing everyone to worry for no reason.”
Although her words seemed reproachful, the concern in her tone couldn’t be ignored.
Shen Yu’an went up to Song Shi and hugged her arm, acting coquettishly. However, Song Shi was genuinely worried this time and ignored her, intending to let her learn a lesson on her own.
Shen Yu’an continued to act cute and say sweet words until Song Shi finally calmed down.
Once Song Shi had calmed down, she looked at the jars in the hands of Fei Yanchen and Zhang Wendong and asked, “You went out for just a while, why did you come back with two jars? What’s inside?”
Others also looked over, as they didn’t remember Fei Yanchen and the others taking anything with them when they went out to find Shen Yu’an.
