Chapter 26: The world is truly unpredictable

“Ling Yunfan, I like you.”

Ji Canghai said seriously.

Similar words had been said by Ji Canghai more than once since they reunited. 

For example, “I am your fiancé, I am your boyfriend.”

However, those words were more or less said in jest, making it difficult for Ling Yunfan to take them seriously.

“Is the secondary gender that important?” Ji Canghai interrupted Ling Yunfan.

He said, “I…I saw the photo you had in your study.”

Ji Canghai remained silent, waiting for Ling Yunfan to continue.

Ling Yunfan said, “There’s a very handsome boy standing behind you in the photo, he must be an omega, right?”

After speaking, Ling Yunfan couldn’t help but hiss softly.

He had originally intended to ask in a casual tone, but it felt so sour when he said it.

Ji Canghai didn’t say a word, turned and left the room, and returned with the photo in his hand.

He walked to the bedside and held up the photo to Ling Yunfan, pointing to a spot on the photo with his finger.

His action made Ling Yunfan involuntarily look at him.

Ji Canghai reached out and lightly rested his hand on Ling Yunfan’s arm, “There were many misunderstandings between us in high school, but I will slowly tell you everything later. For now, rest and sleep, the doctor said you need to rest.”

Ling Yunfan couldn’t refuse and obediently lay down.

“Goodnight,” Ji Canghai tucked Ling Yunfan back in.

“Goodnight,” Ling Yunfan replied.

Ji Canghai smiled lightly at his response, like a spring breeze melting snow.

He stood up and walked back to the door, ready to turn off the light. When his slender and fair fingers touched the switch, Ji Canghai suddenly thought of something and looked at Ling Yunfan in bed. “You just said that I won’t desire you.”

“Huh?” Ling Yunfan was stunned. “Uh?”

He clearly had said that alphas wouldn’t have desires towards each other.

Ji Canghai continued, “What I want to tell you is that theory is not enough, practice is more important, and I have been holding back for a long time. I hope you don’t say things like that to provoke me anymore.”

“…” Ling Yunfan was speechless.

With the soft click of the light switch, the room fell into darkness.

Ji Canghai closed the door and left the room.

Ling Yunfan, who couldn’t sleep, stared at the ceiling for a while, then muttered to himself, “Who provoked you? That’s what the physiology book says. If the physiology teacher found out, he would be so angry that he’d jump up and hit you on the head. And as for theory being less important than practice, I really want to ask you, what kind of practice are you talking about?”

He became angry with embarrasment and spoke to himself as if he were afraid the room would be too quiet.

Because in the quiet, Ling Yunfan could hear his own heart beating like thunder.

Every time his heart thumped, Ling Yunfan could hear Ji Canghai’s confession ringing in his ears.

“Ling Yunfan, I like you.”

Direct, frank, and passionate like the sun.

Ling Yunfan couldn’t help but wonder, why was Ji Canghai, who always opposed him in high school, able to confess so fearlessly now?

Was it because he had lost his memory?

If Ji Canghai knew that his amnesia was fake, what would he think? And what would happen to their relationship?

Ling Yunfan wrapped himself tightly in the blankets, deeply sighing as he knew he was destined to toss and turn tonight and have trouble sleeping.

Meanwhile, Ji Canghai walked to the balcony of the guest bedroom.

He didn’t turn on the light, and the balcony and bedroom were both pitch black. He looked up at the distant lights of the city, with households still awake and lit up. The moonlight and neon lights intertwined, creating the bustling scene of the world.

Ji Canghai leaned against the balcony, letting the night breeze tousle his hair, and exhaled slowly.

Just then, Ji Canghai’s phone rang.

He took out his phone from his pocket, looked at the name on the screen with a calm expression, and answered.

A voice with a pleasing tone came from the other end of the line.

“Hello? Mr. Ji?”

“Are you satisfied with what my brothers did tonight?”

“As long as you’re satisfied, it’s good. Let me tell you, my brother has training and can control his strength. You said there should be no sequelae, so there won’t be any. He’ll just have to lie down down on the bed for a few weeks. But if you want him crippled next time, we can do that too.”

After hanging up the phone, Ji Canghai deleted the call record and put his phone back in his pocket.

He covered his mouth with one hand, trying to hide his emotions, but involuntarily let out a few chuckles.

After laughing heartily twice, Ji Canghai put on a gentle expression again and got up to leave the balcony, walking towards the bedroom.
