Chapter 9
Early the next morning
At five o’clock, the sky had not yet brightened, looking a little bit gloomy.
Su Xi was awakened by Brother, dazedly following him as they jogged around the village.
“You didn’t sleep well yesterday? Why are you so tired?” Xi Yannan jogged alongside Su Xi, asking with concern.
Su Xi was still a bit confused, with only two thin legs subconsciously fidgeting, and her mouth weakly replied. “I had a chaotic dream last night and didn’t sleep well.”
“What did you dream of?”
“…”
Su Xi raised her hand and rubbed her face, then lightly patted her cheek a few times, trying to wake herself up.
As for the content of the dream, she had no idea how to put it. Could she say that she dreamt of regressing and being a half-demon peach blossom spirit? The longer she spent with peach trees, peaches, or peach blossoms, the more beautiful she became.
Her face turned red, and she couldn’t say it. She was sure it was the delicious peaches from last night that led to such dreams.
Thinking about the deliciousness of those peaches, Su Xi couldn’t help but swallow and say, “Forgot what I dreamt about, Brother. Where is that peach tree? The peaches you gave me yesterday were so delicious; I want to pick some when I have time.”
Xi Yannan was amused by the way the little girl swallowed, and he patted Su Xi’s head and said, “Don’t even think about it. That tree is not easy to find. Wait until Brother comes back from school on Sunday, and I’ll pick some for you in the mountains.”
“Don’t go secretly by yourself!”
“…”
“Did you hear me?”
“…Heard you!”
“Brother, your college entrance exam is approaching, right?” Su Xi changed the topic.
Xi Yannan lifted the hem of his clothes to wipe off the rolling beads of sweat before replying, “Hmm, less than a month left.”
“When exactly?”
“From the 15th to the 17th of next month, why?”
Su Xi only realized that the current college entrance examination is one month later than the later generations: “Nothing, just asking. What university do you plan to apply for?”
When it came to the university he wanted to apply to, Xi Yannan showed a bit of youthful enthusiasm. His goal was clear: “Military Academy!”
Su Xi wasn’t surprised; after all, in the original book, Xi Yannan also attended a military academy: “National University of Defense Technology?”
Xi Yannan was surprised. “You know about this school too?”
Su Xi rolled her eyes at Brother. “I plan to go to college in a few years, so I definitely need to pay attention to key universities.”
Xi Yannan chuckled and patted Su Xi’s head with his large hand. “Then you have to work hard. With your current grades, you won’t make it to a top university.”
“Don’t look down on me!”
“Okay, okay, my bad. The little Xixi in our family is the best.”
“Are you coaxing a child?”
“Haha…”
…………..
After breakfast, Xi Yannan hopped on his bicycle with a week’s worth of provisions and took Su Xi to school.
Su Xi’s school wasn’t too far from home, or else the original owner couldn’t have walked to and from school every day.
Upon reaching the school, Su Xi said goodbye to her brother, carried her school bag and lunch, and followed her memories to find her classroom.
In the third year of junior high school, there was only one class, with a total of thirty-two students, including only six girls.
Her deskmate, a chubby girl with short hair, was already there.
“Xixi, you’re here. Why are you so late today?” Wang Xiao, the daughter of the head teacher and Chinese teacher, Teacher Huang, lived in the school staff dormitory, so she always arrived early.
Su Xi took out the book she needed for the first period before stuffing her backpack into her desk and saying, “I woke up late today. The first class is math, right?”
“Yes, it’s math. My mom was muttering this morning about checking the homework she assigned earlier. Did you finish it?”
“I finished it.” Although starting school again made her feel a bit uncomfortable, she would still adhere to her duties as a student.
After Su Xi finished speaking, she noticed that Wang Xiao was staring at her. She was a bit puzzled and said, “Why are you looking at me like that?”
Wang Xiaoxi chuckled and said, “I feel like in just two days, you’ve become even more attractive.”
Su Xi thought she was joking and casually said, “Thank you for your compliment.”
Wang Xiao continued, “I’ve noticed you seem a bit fairer. No wonder they say fair skin can cover up imperfections. You were already good-looking, and now you’re even better with fairer skin.”
Su Xi turned her head to face her deskmate, feeling a bit baffled. It had only been two days; how could she have noticeably become fairer? Besides, she hadn’t intentionally tried to lighten her skin.
“Why is there a pink mark below the corner of your eye?” Without waiting for Su Xi to say anything, Wang Xiao started examining her closely and moved in a bit.
Feeling uncomfortable, Su Xi tried to step back, but Wang Xiao grabbed her and, after a closer look, exclaimed, “You have a pink mark below the corner of your right eye. It looks like a birthmark, maybe in the shape of a peach blossom… or it could be a plum blossom. It’s quite fascinating. Although it’s not very obvious, only someone like me, who’s good at noticing beauty, would be able to spot it.”
After speaking, she was worried that Su Xi wouldn’t believe her, so she took out a small mirror from her backpack and handed it to Su Xi, gesturing for her to look at it herself.
After Su Xi took the mirror with half a doubt, she really saw a pink birthmark the size of a soybean in the corner of her right eye. The color was very light, and if she wasn’t looking at it carefully, she couldn’t see it.
Could it be… Was the dream from last night real?
How could that be possible?
“Crack!”
“Oops! Xixi, let go quickly! The mirror is broken. Are you okay? Your hand isn’t hurt, is it?”
Wang Xiao pried open Su Xi’s hand, relieved to find it unharmed. Feeling relieved, she immediately apologized, “I’m sorry, Xixi. I didn’t know the mirror was broken. Thankfully, your hand is okay.”
Su Xi felt embarrassed. It wasn’t that the mirror was broken; it was just that she had been startled a moment ago and forgot to control her strength.
However, this wasn’t easy to explain. She could only force a smile and didn’t know what to say; she planned to buy a new mirror for Wang Xiaoo during her lunch break.
Fortunately, the bell for the first class rang, and she attentively listened to the lecture, although her mind was in turmoil.
She remembered yesterday in her dream that she was the original owner, “Su Xi.” However, due to external forces, the young Su Xi met an untimely death.
Now, having crossed time and space, she replaced her past self and triggered the activation of her bloodline, turning her into a half-demon peach blossom spirit.
So, was her increasing strength because she was no longer human?
No… That couldn’t be true, right?
…Was it real or just a figment of her imagination?
She felt a bit panicked!
After a day of confusion, Su Xi managed to endure until the school bell rang for dismissal.
She waved goodbye to her deskmate, picked up her backpack, and ran outside the school.
She needed to confirm whether she could sense anything related to peach blossoms, as long as she got close to something associated with them.
On the rural roads, there were quite a few wild peach trees. Whenever Su Xi thought about peach trees, there was an inexplicable and mysterious connection that pulled her in a certain direction.
Just by following this mysterious feeling, she could accurately find the peach tree.
Every time she approached a peach tree, even if she did nothing, just standing near it made her feel refreshed, just like when she had eaten peaches yesterday.
Could it be real?
Oh my god… This is incredibly amazing.
After a crossing, she actually directly changed into a different species?
Not knowing whether she was daydreaming, Su Xi raised her hand and pinched a small furry peach, thinking that since she was already a half-demon, could she imagine this small peach ripening instantly and turning into a full-grown peach?
Then, before she could lightly laugh at her own wild imagination, the quail egg-sized green peach in her hand visibly grew larger at a speed visible to the naked eye, until the whole peach emitted a rich peach fragrance and naturally fell into her hand.
…Gulp!
Whether it was due to desire or surprise, Su Xi couldn’t help but gulp down a mouthful of saliva.
And then I greedily touched another little peach.
It wasn’t until nine big, red peaches were placed in her backpack that Su Xi felt a slight headache. Apparently, this so-called half-demon power wasn’t unlimited.
However, looking at the peaches in her backpack, Su Xi walked happily home with a satisfied stride.
But not far from home, she was startled by a handsome man who came towards her: “Big brother, why are you back?”
