Chapter 159: Housewarming Gift

After the completion of Shen’s new house, on the very first night they moved in, they invited the people from the neighboring Zhang family to warm the house.

Since the Zhang family moved into their new house a few days ago, they had been having separate meals from the Shen family.

Next to the kitchen in the Shen family’s house, there was a dining room with two large round tables that could rotate.

Shen Yuan drew the design for these tables and had them made by the Du family based on her drawings.

She came up with the idea of having such tables because there were simply too many people in the Shen family. Even without guests, one table would not be enough, so they decided to have two oversized rotating tables.

The dishes, prepared in duplicate, were brought out from the neighboring kitchen and placed on the dining tables simultaneously.

The tables were filled with a feast more lavish than the New Year’s celebration.

Everyone took their seats at the respective tables.

Shen Yuan had noticed earlier that grandpa Shen had taken out a jug of Monkey King wine again.

When it was time to pour the wine, she quickly placed her cup next to the jug.

Grandpa Shen personally poured the Monkey King wine, fearing that others might not have the right touch.

He saw Shen Yuan extending her cup towards him and immediately stopped his pouring motion.

Shen Yuan didn’t believe him for a second. It was clear that he cherished the wine. So she pouted and rolled around, successfully coaxing him into pouring her half a cup.

Shen Yuan was confident in her tolerance for alcohol. Looking at the half-filled cup, she wasn’t quite satisfied and planned to secretly pour the remaining jug of wine from her spatial storage into it later.

Once everyone had taken their seats, grandpa Shen stood up.

He delivered a heartfelt speech, reflecting on the hardships they had endured and appreciating the happiness they now enjoyed. After his words, everyone was ready to begin their meal.

As everyone was about to start eating, a series of knocking sounds echoed through the door.

Grandpa Shen’s hand, which was just about to pick up his chopsticks, froze in midair.

Everyone wondered, “Who could it be at this late hour?”

They shook their heads, unable to guess who it might be.

Shen Yuan, sitting closest to the door, stood up and said, “I’ll go and check.”

“Okay, come back quickly.”

Shen Yuan walked out of the dining room and, after passing through a door, could see the courtyard where they were gathered.

The sound of knocking on the door had ceased.

However, after waiting for a moment without hearing any response from inside, the person outside started knocking again.

Shen Yu’an removed the door latch and reached out to open the door.

Standing outside the door was Fei Yanchen, who had disappeared from Longxian Village on the way.

Fei Yanchen remained in place, waiting for her. Once she closed the door and walked over to him, they entered together.

Shen Yu’an replied, “Things have been pretty good.”
