The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies
The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies | Chapter 26: Prioritizing Medicines

[edited]

Things couldn’t wait. Lu Yu knocked on the door of their “Good Neighbor” in the end of times.

Knowing they needed medicine, Huo Yishen hesitated for a moment and agreed.

As per their usual arrangement, Zheng Weili stayed to look after the apartment with the kid.

Although Zhang Chao brought up the idea of apocalypse, Zhang Weili still had her own concerns. She didn’t really want to believe it in her heart. After much hesitation, she finally said, “This time, we’re going out mainly to find survival supplies and medicine, as for other things… you should consider your own needs.”

Though not explicitly stated, those who understood, understood.

How could Jiang Ning not understand? She quickly added “If we find medicine and survival supplies, we’ll divide them equally. Personal needs beyond that won’t count, but it’s best not to use too many group resources.”

Opening up the discussion was better, and everyone had no objections.

With one motorboat and three rubber boats, they could bring back a lot of supplies. The only concern was being beaten to the punch.

It was 20 kilometers to Zhang Chao’s company, and the four of them set out in the rain on the motorboat.

As expected, the further into the suburbs they went, the more complicated the water flow became, and the wind picked up. Even the best sailors couldn’t handle wooden boats and rubber rafts.

Huo Yishen had good skills and was able to steadily cross the complex waters, seeing several tall office buildings standing on the water’s surface in the vast, gloomy weather.

Pointing in a direction, Zhang Chao led the four towards the office building, where they could see offices submerged in floodwaters through the glass on the fifth floor.

“The office looks quite tidy. It probably hasn’t been looted yet.”

They smashed the glass with a hammer, and the flood rushed in.

Once the water settled, they entered the office building and secured the motorboat.

Luck was on their side; the large office building hadn’t been looted yet.

With a clear goal in mind, they took the stairs straight to the 12th floor, to Zhang Chao’s pharmaceutical company.

Cutting the lock with steel pliers, Zhang Chao headed straight to his workstation and felt relieved to see several large cardboard boxes piled behind. “We were supposed to deliver these to the pharmacy that day, but then the typhoon hit, they notified us of a delayed delivery, so I brought the goods back to the company.”

The delivered goods were miscellaneous, including anti-inflammatory and antibacterial drugs, rheumatism treatments, cold medicine, and many more.

The pharmaceutical agency wasn’t large, with only about a dozen people in the sales department.

The exhibition room had all sorts of drugs, for hypertension, lowering blood sugar and lipids, not a large quantity but too many varieties to ignore. They ended up scanning through several large cardboard boxes.

Jiang Ning suggested, “Our space is limited. Let’s unpack the outer packaging and take only the medicine. At least we can save three-fourths of the space.”

“Okay, I know the uses of various medicines anyway. I’ll organize them for you when we get back.”

They unpacked the packaging, while Jiang Ning searched the workstations. There were coffees, biscuits, various snacks and pastries, teas for men and flower teas for women, and self-heating pots.

There weren’t many of them, but they didn’t leave anything useful behind.

She secretly stuffed some items they didn’t need into the space.

The medicine filled two large backpacks, each about 1 meter tall, with plenty of room.

After hiding the other supplies, they took the medicine to the 15th floor.

There were three pharmaceutical companies in the office building, and they prioritized collecting from all of them.

The second company also had a lot of medicine. Zhang Chao looked at the large refrigerator in the exhibition room and said regretfully, “This company mainly deals with vaccines. These are all good things, but we can’t take them.”

Through the glass, Jiang Ning saw several types of vaccines: smallpox, tetanus, rabies, meningitis, HPV, influenza, and others.

The refrigerator had its own battery, which could be used for a month after a power outage, but once taken out, they couldn’t be stored at room temperature.

Jiang Ning glanced at it but said nothing and continued to collect supplies.

After sweeping through the three pharmaceutical companies, they filled up a rubber boat.

In the early afternoon, the hungry group sat down to eat the deluxe version of the self heating pot they had collected, along with coffee, milk tea, and various popular snacks.

Listening to the rain outside and eating the delicious self heating pot, the fragrance filled the office building, making it feel like a truly wonderful moment in life.

“We have enough medicine, but we really haven’t eaten much. There are still a few internet famous live streaming companies in this building. Let’s try our luck.”

They got right back to their business.

To their surprise, the first company was a cosmetics and skincare live streaming company. Zhang Chao and Lu Yu weren’t interested, but Jiang Ning’s eyes lit up.

There were various brand name skincare products, makeup, lipsticks, face masks, and luxury creams piled up everywhere.

Jiang Ning didn’t hesitate to throw the expensive ones into the bag.

Lu Yu thought of bringing some for Zheng Weili, so he picked a few items too.

The men weren’t interested and only searched for survival supplies. So they headed to the second internet famous company. “Anning, hurry up. We’ll wait for you upstairs.”

As soon as they left, Jiang Ning took everything into her space.

Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on their side. The second company was a women’s clothing live streaming company, with various clothes, dresses, shoes, and bags.

Lu Yu picked a few items for Zheng Weili, and Jiang Ning also chose several pieces.

Finally, the third company was a food live streaming company, but it was all snacks: beef jerky, lamb jerky, nuts, various bread and pastries, internet famous drinks, even ice cream, but it had all melted in the fridge.

These items took up space and they filled several large black plastic bags.

Oh, and they didn’t even spare the garbage bags from the cleaning room. Those could be very useful.

Time passes very quickly, and scanning like this is too inefficient.

Jiang Ning suggested collecting on separate floors, which can save time and improve efficiency.

There were a total of 15 floors above water. Jiang Ning took charge of three floors, while the three men handled four floors each.

Jiang Ning took floors 12-15 and decided to start from the 15th floor and work her way down.

On the 15th floor, she returned to the pharmaceutical company from earlier and collected all the vaccines from the fridge.

The space could preserve them, so there was no problem keeping them for a while.

Time was running short, so she decided to target the larger companies first. She immediately set her sights on a well known home appliance company’s branch office in Fengcheng.

The product exhibition hall was spacious, showcasing various stylish home appliances filled with technology, including air conditioners, washing machines, refrigerators, smart rice cookers, and other futuristic gadgets.

It was said that in the future, the country would establish bases in various locations, and some of the conditions were quite favorable. Moreover, the space had solar power generators. Jiang Ning decided to choose a few items she fancied, just in case they might come in handy in the future.

If they didn’t need them, it wouldn’t matter; they could always discard them later.

There were large double door refrigerators with six digit price tags, air conditioners and washing machines in the five digit range, multi function air coolers, automatic frying pans, ice makers, rice cookers, bread makers, soy milk makers, wireless vacuum cleaners, dryers, and so on.

Jiang Ning liked cooking but disliked washing dishes, so she decisively collected a few dishwashers.

These items took up a lot of space, but fortunately, she managed to clear out the space in time.

Big companies offered good benefits. The pantry was filled with many things, including milk, tea, beverages, as well as plenty of grains and cereals, red dates, lotus seeds, and even shark fin and bird’s nest, probably for entertaining clients. Unfortunately, all the fruits had gone bad, leaving only a pile of wilted lemons.

Next to the pantry was a bakery, specifically for making snacks for employees. Inside, there were plenty of milk, flour, cake mix, eggs, condensed milk, dried fruits, and more.

The freezer contained red wine and steak, but unfortunately, the steaks had also spoiled.

Jiang Ning didn’t need these items, and she didn’t want to use up Lu Yu and Zhang Chao’s survival resources, so she packed up all the useful items.

She didn’t overlook the workstations either; she kept what was useful and cleared out the space for inconvenient items, such as wires, sockets, as well as some household tools and various books.

While unpacking a package, she found two pairs of ice skates. Thinking they might be useful in extreme cold conditions, she tossed them into the space as well.

Dragging out the two large parcels from under the workstations, she noticed that the delivery notes but it didn’t specify the contents, so she used a knife to open them.

To her surprise, both boxes were full of birth control.

Two large boxes, totaling of about three thousand sets.

Jiang Ning glanced at the nameplate on the workstation—Wang Meng.

Salute to this fearless warrior!
