The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies
The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies | Chapter 28: Expansion of Space

The group sat together, eating high calorie self heating meals, and briefly talked about their collections.

Aside from the assorted snacks and drinks, Jiang Ning had gathered the most grains and miscellaneous grains. Zhang Chao had swept through a product agency company in the residential area, acquiring over a hundred pounds of yak jerky, Rhodiola, saffron, matsutake mushrooms, cheese, and more.

Lu Yu found several bags of Wuchang rice, while Huo Yishen came across a liquor agency company and collected dozens of cases of alcohol.

In total, the most abundant item was mineral water. It was a necessity they couldn’t afford to throw away. After all drinking rainwater constantly wasn’t ideal.

After discussion, they decided to bring back the medicines, meat, alcohol, rice, and grains. Instant noodles, spicy noodles, bread, and other non-perishable foods would come next, with mineral water and beverages saved for last.

Additionally, each person took what they personally needed.

The motorboat belongs to Jiang Ning, and then there are Tang knives, golf clubs, and skin care products.

Lu Yu took some clothes and shoes.

Zhang Chao collected electronic products, gaming consoles, and watches.

Huo Yishen carried some ragdolls, children’s books, and paper and pens, clearly for Doudou.

Everyone kept track of what they took, trying to take as little from the joint supplies as possible.

While moving things to the rubber boat, Lu Yu mentioned casually, “I found a seed shop, but unfortunately, they were sprayed with pesticides and are not edible. Otherwise, we could have taken them back, just in case.”

As soon as he finished speaking, all three pairs of eyes focused on him.

“W-What’s wrong?” Zhang Chao didn’t know what to say. “The whole world is submerged. If it really is the end of the world, seeds will be more valuable than medicine.”

Lu Yu realized his foolish mistake. “Should we bring them back?”

“Of course,” Jiang Ning replied. She and Zhang Chao continued to load goods onto the boat, while Lu Yu and Huo Yishen stayed to help.

When they reached upstairs, they were surprised to find it was a research station from Zhonglong High Tech, founded by the same great figure who had ensured food security for the Chinese people.

The station wasn’t large, mostly consisting of new hybrid rice varieties, totaling of about five to six hundred pounds altogether. Additionally, there were many hybrid vegetable varieties, as well as hydroponic technology and nutrient solutions.

It was too precious to pass up. Jiang Ning didn’t even spare the documents and she makes several trips back and forth with Zhang Chao.

On the last trip, she intentionally walked slowly, collecting the laboratory’s computer into the space. It contained valuable literature and data that could be immensely helpful in rebuilding civilization in the future.

After finishing their tasks, it was already well past nine in the evening.

They tied two rubber boats to the 1801 motorboat, while Jiang Ning’s boat was tied to one. They estimated each other’s power and load capacity in the dark night as they sailed towards Jinrong Community.

Jiang Ning piloted the motorboat while Lu Yu sat beside her, keeping watch with binoculars.

The binoculars has a night vision function, which can be used to observe and avoid obstacles and be wary of potential robbers.

With the boat fully loaded, they moved slowly.

When they arrived at Jinrong Community, they mutually agreed to turn off the engine, dim the mining lamps, and paddle back to the apartment building together.

At this hour, almost everyone was asleep, but they still had to be cautious. With so many supplies, they didn’t want to attract attention. They even walked barefoot to avoid making noise.

Zheng Weili came down to help, and it took nearly an hour for them to finish transporting everything back and forth.

Fearing that Zheng Weili couldn’t hold out. Huo Yishen asked Jiang Ning to stay behind, while the three of them would return to the office building to finish moving everything overnight.

Supplies are piled in the living room of 1803, which looks extremely messy, but it makes people indescribably satisfied.

The two of them didn’t bother to rest. They grabbed some folding chairs and sat down to organize the items. They divided the things that could be divided equally into four parts and put the things that couldn’t be divided next to each other.

Even after the second trip, they hadn’t finished loading everything. There were still quite a few beverages and mineral water left, so 1801 and Zhang Chao made another trip.

By the time they had brought everything up to the 18th floor, it was already one in the morning.

Throughout the night, they divided the supplies among themselves. Jiang Ning took a lot of medicine, grains, beef, wine, ten kilograms of Wuchang rice, a dozen boxes of mineral water, seven or eight boxes of milk, two large sacks of snacks and instant food, and various miscellaneous items.

In short, they wouldn’t have to worry for half a year.

The only trouble now was the seeds they had brought back.

They knew seeds were valuable, but apart from Jiang Ning, who had some knowledge, the others didn’t know how to handle them. Moreover, the heavy rain made the air very damp, and improper storage could quickly spoil the seeds.

Jiang Ning thought for a moment. “How about letting me take care of them? I’ll see if I can grow hydroponic vegetables from them, and then I can teach you all.”

It wasn’t because she was greedy, but because in the frequent natural disasters of the apocalypse, neither high nor low temperatures were suitable for plant growth. There simply weren’t any suitable opportunities for planting, and seeds would spoil if left unattended for too long.

The space could preserve them, and she genuinely wanted to save these precious items. If researchers could develop suitable planting locations in the future, she could anonymously donate them.

After all, the space was only ten square meters of black soil, and she couldn’t possibly plant all the seeds she had stored in her lifetime.

The others had no objections and even helped move the items into her house. “Anning, we’re counting on you to bring us fresh vegetables.”

“I’m just trying, there’s no guarantee of success.”

Feeling extremely exhausted, Jiang Ning took a shower and collapsed into bed.

Staying up late was hard on the liver, and she slept until noon feeling groggy.

After eating junk food all day, she woke up feeling parched. She can’t even bear the taste of chrysanthemum tea.

Jiang Ning served herself some rice, steamed ribs, and stir-fried vegetables, feeling inexplicably satisfied after eating. She even treated herself to a bowl of cured chicken feet. Perfect!

After eating her fill and drinking enough, she entered the space. However, what she saw nearly scared her out of her wits.

“Damn, whose space is this?”

Jiang Ning was shocked by what she saw. The supplies were still hers, but the space had expanded.

The two bedroom apartment had magically transformed into a three bedroom one.

No, it wasn’t just a three bedroom apartment; the area had also increased.

The master bedroom had grown by about five square meters, while the second bedroom had gained an additional two square meters. The living room, bathroom, kitchen, and balcony had all expanded, with an extra room of about 10 square meters.

What’s more, the garden had doubled in size, from 10 square meters to 20 square meters!

What did this mean?

It meant not only she had the freedom of growing vegetables but also the freedom in growing fruits.

Jiang Ning immediately took out a ruler and measured. The total increase was about 50 square meters, or 150 cubic meters.

Excited and puzzled, Jiang Ning wondered why the space had suddenly expanded.

Was it because it was full?

No, it hadn’t expanded even when she had almost overloaded it last time. There must be some other unknown reason.

Despite her best efforts to figure it out, she couldn’t find an explanation.

Did the time she could spend in the space increase with its expansion?

She eagerly checked the countdown timer, which already had accumulated more than 20 days. After deducting the time she had spent, there were only a meager 36 hours left. It was… disheartening.

Although she kept track of the figures every day, the time hadn’t increased.

With no other option, she had to continue spending her time carefully.

She rolled up her sleeves and started organizing the supplies in the expanded space, filling up the extra rooms.

As she tidied up, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
