The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies
The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies | Chapter 33: Diesel Obtained

[edited]

Jiang Ning pried open the warehouse of the maintenance department’s supply department and finally found diesel in one of the rooms.

There were 30 barrels. Each contained 160 liters, totaling of 4800 liters.

With an international exhibition approaching and a once in a century typhoon forecasted. It was impossible to rely on just this amount of diesel for emergency power outage preparations.

So, she pried open every possible spot and indeed, she discovered diesel in two other rooms, amounting to a total of 1.6 tons

Both the motorboat and the RV needs diesel and there’s enough for her to use for a long time. Excited, she stored everything into the space.

In fact, there were several solar energy storage boxes in the space, but why would she even bother to make a choice? She simply grabbed every single one of them!

She picked up the tools and dismantled the generator as much as possible, along with the maintenance department’s tools and accessories. She packs them together and takes them away.

The seventh floor and below were filled with various modern furniture styles, and Jiang Ning continued to collect as she walked.

She actually preferred modern furniture, as designers fully considered the difficulty of cramped living spaces, and there are many items that feature a folding functions.

With an extra 1200 cubic feet of space. Jiang Ning acted very impulsively, grabbing whatever she could.

Beds, latex mattresses, sofas, wardrobes, TV cabinets, bedside tables, desks, chairs, stools, rocking chairs…

Tired, she sat down to rest, promptly checking the space.

She discovered that only a portion of the wooden furniture she had collected had disappeared, indicating that many businesses were still engaging in shady practices, selling inferior goods under false pretenses. The space was indeed an excellent appraisal machine.

Going up the spiral staircase, she found an additional living room, but there were no further changes.

She meticulously scans all the way to the fifth floor, carefully choosing only durable and sturdy items for her own use. In the apocalypse, there’s no room for extravagance; otherwise, displaying such items could easily raise suspicion.

After spending too much time in the expo center, she took out her phone and realized it was already three o’clock in the afternoon.

She left using motorboat and on the way back she found two commercial buildings under construction.

Thinking of the massive destruction, collapsed houses, and ruins everywhere after the big earthquake, she hesitated for a moment before driving the motorboat over.

The commercial buildings were almost completed and were in the decoration stage, with many materials already transported to the floors.

Jiang Ning lifted the waterproof cloth. Sand, cement, lime powder, glass doors and windows, tiles, waterproof coatings, and more are revealed.

The progress of decoration varied, and the materials stacked on each floor were slightly different.

Sand was easy to come by, so there was no need to waste space.

Certain items are hard to regenerate. Even if the government rebuilds later, not everything can be produced.

Jiang Ning walked up and collected them into the space, piling them all in the black soil garden.

She discovered that since the second floor of the space was built, the height of the garden had changed, and it was now the same height as the second floor.

This change meant that the garden’s usable area had doubled from 900 cubic feet to 1800 cubic feet.

Fortunately, the building materials didn’t take up much space, so she collected everything she found.

The garden doesn’t have a preservation function, so Jiang Ning didn’t forget to collect a piece of waterproof shading cloth to cover the cement, lime powder, waterproof coating, and other items.

After collecting everything, she suddenly remembered the safes stored in the space.

So, she took them all out and began prying them open!

The alarm was piercing, so she stuffed earplugs tightly into her ears and gradually pried open the safe doors.

The four safes from the jewelry store were completely empty!

It seemed that the space had swallowed everything out.

Next, she pried open President Ba’s personal collection safe, and surprisingly, a gun fell out from inside.

Uh, is this something he can keep for collection?

Indeed, President Ba loved to challenge the law without exception.

Besides the handgun, there were also two boxes of bullets, a total of 200 rounds.

Even in the apocalypse, it was nearly impossible for ordinary people to possess firearms.

This was an unexpected surprise. Although Jiang Ning had never touched a real gun, there was a shooting club in the school and they shot rubber bullets. She was still somewhat accurate in shooting.

With this thing, she could sleep more peacefully. Once again, she thanked President Ba for his contribution.

Now, there’s only one safe left, the one found in the domineering office.

This one shouldn’t contain something illegal, right?

She pried it open, and it was filled with papers.

No, to be precise, it was money.

Stacks of ten thousand bills, a total of 100 stacks.

One million, all brand new bills.

This was something Jiang Ning hadn’t expected. If she had obtained this money before the natural disasters… she might not have worked like a sewing machine.

Although the paper money hadn’t been invalidated yet, it had depreciated significantly. But it was better than nothing.

She packed the money into her backpack and threw the safe into the floodwaters.

The 18th floor could barely be considered a team. It wasn’t easy to come out alone. Jiang Ning took out her phone to check the offline map to see if there were any worthwhile places nearby.

There was a commercial technology museum, but it was in the neighboring city, Yuecheng.

Yuecheng was the provincial capital, but the commercial technology museum was built in the suburbs, only about 20 kilometers away from Lezhen.

Besides aside from expanding the space, she didn’t have any specific items she lacked now. Things like ships and planes were out of the question. She could only explore and see if she could find anything useful for herself.

After confirming the route, she headed to the commercial technology museum in Yuecheng.

Navigating through the vast flood, it took her almost an hour as she wasn’t familiar with the route. There are only two floors of the technology museum remaining above the water.

Yuecheng was crowded, and the technology museum had been searched countless times. Everywhere was a mess, and almost everything useful for survival had been taken away.

Just as she was about to leave after a brief look around, the flashlight’s beam unintentionally swept over an orange sphere.

It’s round like a ping pong ball, exceptionally bright in color, with a diameter of about 3 meters.

This… an escape pod?

Jiang Ning had once casually come across it in a video, an escape pod for earthquakes and tsunamis.

Picking up the promotional brochure from the ground, she was indeed correct.

Made of metal shell materials tested through three levels of aerospace standards, it could withstand external impacts from sharp objects, as well as high temperatures and pressures, without deformation, with extremely strong protective capabilities.

The interior of the escape pod was equally sturdy, with high energy welding technology combined with the design of safety belts and shock-absorbing seats, providing people with a sense of security when hiding inside the escape capsule.

The latest upgraded version on display this time included GPS positioning systems, oxygen, lighting, drinking water, and food.

The storage of drinking water and the quantity of food were determined by the internal space, with a single person escape pod able to store five days’ worth of supplies, while those for 5-10 people could store supplies for half a month.

The single person model had a diameter of 0.8 meters, while the one in front of her was approximately 3 meters high, likely the largest model available.

Jiang Ning opened the pod door and indeed found six shock absorbing seats inside.

The space was quite spacious, with enough room to stretch out, and it had a mini toilet processor. At the bottom, there were water storage bubbles that would float up if dropped into the water. There were many sealed compartments around, likely for storing essential supplies, along with a medical emergency kit.

During earthquakes or tsunamis, one could retreat inside to shelter from the disaster outside.

Once the disaster subsided, the emergency signal device could be triggered, and one could wait for rescue personnel.

Judging by the placement, there should have been single person escape pods as well, but they had likely been taken away by someone.

However, the one in front of her was too heavy to be lifted, even with several people working together.

Jiang Ning tried to push it, but it wouldn’t budge. She decisively stored it away in the space for storage. Perhaps it could be useful if an earthquake struck one day?

Today’s trip could indeed be considered a stroke of luck.

It was already getting late, so Jiang Ning promptly withdrew.

Back at the Jinrong community, the sky was dark and gloomy.

Just as she was about to enter the community, she noticed a commotion not far away, accompanied by intense barking…
