Chapter 45

For a while. We were being rocked inside the carriage while talking about what I and Alaine, as the Knight Captain had done all this time. While doing so…

“We’re almost there.”

The person who was sitting in the driver seat turned to us and said so. 

“Hm. I see.”

Prince Aquilane, who was sitting beside me, replied to that person. 

The place we were heading to was a slum located in Myria Kingdom which was said to be the secret base of the evil god cult. The First Prince was on his way to the slum to track down the root of the evil god cult and also to get the control of the slum while he was at it. 

Who would’ve thought we have the same aim?

“It’d be great if we have any information about it.”

I unconsciously muttered. 

“……Information? Are you looking for something?”

“Yeah, that’s right. Well, I can’t tell you what I’m looking for though.”

“I see.”

The First Prince obediently nodded at my answer. Just from reading his emotions, it was clear enough to see that he didn’t want to get caught up with us. Both of us resigned from our position as a captain and vice captain respectively in order to search for this something. That something must not be least than disaster level or an indescribable existence and getting involved with something like that must be nothing but trouble. 

“We’ve arrived.”

And the carriage came to a halt. 

“Yes.”

We stepped down from the carriage. Within my field of vision, all I could see was the sight of an old town with the scent of something dirty and stagnant flowing in the air. 

“Now then, if you’ll excuse us…”

“What?”

The First Prince inclined his head to the side when he heard me. 

Prince Aquilane then continued saying.

“Are you not going to work together with us? Your aim is the evil god cult, right? If that’s the case it’s better to have more people to work with rather than just the two of yo-”

“That won’t be necessary.”

I interrupted Prince Aquilane and firmly voiced my refusal. 

The reason behind Prince Aquilane’s proposal. His force’s power was already reduced so he was thinking of counting on us to add more strength to his force. But still, another reason why Prince Aquilane proposed that cooperation to us was largely due to a sense of gratitude. He was genuinely offering his help out of goodwill since we had the same goal. 

But, that wouldn’t be necessary. 

“Alaine and I, we both hold overwhelming power. We’re the strongest and our strength is unparalleled. We don’t need more people to work with us. In fact, having other people with us might only slow us down instead.”

I said it firmly and clearly. It was not an exaggeration to say we were the strongest. Our level was in a different realm. Our status was in a different realm. We were basically from a different dimension than them. 

Their help wouldn’t be necessary. Just the two of us would be enough.

Alaine and I… The two of us are already a complete package. Just having each other is more than enough for us. Everything else is nothing but impurities to us. We don’t want it and we don’t need it either. 

Just the two of us is enough. It has to be the two of us. 

……………….Because this is Alaine and I’s. Our story.
