Chapter 146: Who Can Take Responsibility?

Su Yu looked at Qian Mo with disgust. It seemed that anyone dared to fantasize about him now. She couldn’t believe the audacity of people, not knowing their place.

Observing the desire and ambition in Qian Mo’s eyes, Su Yu knew this woman was not merely suggesting she would serve like an obedient servant.

“People like her are not worth keeping,” Su Yu said, looking at Wang Jinhe.

Wang Jinhe smiled faintly, as she had the same thought.

Qian Shi was instantly frightened and hurriedly tried to appease them. “It’s our fault, please don’t be angry. I’ll talk to my daughter.”

Wang Jinhe glanced at her with a lack of sincerity, finding her nonchalant attitude amusing. “It seems like you’re not very convinced?”

Qian Shi forced a laugh. “No, not at all. Why would I be? It’s just that you haven’t suffered any losses now, so there’s no need to hold it against us, right?”

“Who is in charge here?” Wang Jinhe asked, looking at the people gathered.

“I am, I’m surnamed Liang,” a person stepped forward from the crowd.

“They don’t need to work here anymore,” Wang Jinhe said to the person in charge.

Upon hearing this, Qian Mo was stunned. She quickly looked at Su Yu, pleading, “Master, please help us. We came here as refugees, and if we leave, we have nowhere to go.”

Although they earned only one or two taels of silver a month, with four people in their family, it added up to four taels. While it might seem like a considerable amount, their spending habits were extravagant. They were used to living comfortably on the estate, and if they had to leave, they wouldn’t be able to afford even a small piece of land. This, coupled with their accustomed lifestyle, would make it challenging for them to survive on their own.

Wang Jinhe raised his hand, rubbing his forehead, finding this person remarkably persistent. “Even in this situation, you’re still thinking about seducing people.”

“You’re slandering me. I haven’t done anything.”

“Are you sure you haven’t?” Wang Jinhe suddenly found it amusing. He thought Qian Mo was quite an interesting person.

Her eyes were practically glued to Su Yu. Despite the circumstances, she insisted she had done nothing?

“Are you trying to say I’m blind?”

“Clearly, you’re targeting me. You’re just envious. Who doesn’t have multiple wives and concubines? Your attitude…”

The people around listened to Qian Mo’s words, looking at her with strange expressions.

Now, perhaps they understood why Qian Mo had been constantly trying to get closer when Old Master Zhang had come over initially. She likely hoped to be noticed, have some plans in mind, and who would have thought that he would leave without giving her a second glance. Seeing the handsome and well-dressed husband of the estate now, and still thinking about seducing him, how could there be such a disgusting woman?

Liang, the steward, originally thought about helping everyone work together for so many years, and Qian’s family had been doing well. He was prepared to intercede for them, but then Qian Mo spoke to the estate in such a way.

With someone so audacious here, who in the right minde  would dare to  to let the Qian family stay? Unless they were extremely foolish, knowing that someone had designs on their master, and still letting it happen—it wasn’t magnanimity; it was insanity.

Seeing Liang, the steward, react this way, Qian Shi anxiously said, “Big Brother Liang, please help us with a few words.”

“No, I can’t be your big brother. I’m just an ordinary person,” Liang quickly replied. “I’m just a worker helping others. Your pleas won’t be of any use.”

This statement clearly indicated that he wanted to sever ties with them. This was not the outcome Qian Shi wanted.

“Big Brother Liang…”

“The mess your family created, don’t come looking for us. We can’t do anything about it,” Liang, the steward, hastily said.

“Knowing full well that it’s the master’s spouse and boldly attempting to seduce him, if the mother of the family didn’t properly discipline, you can’t blame others. Just a moment ago, you were acting indifferent. Now you regret it? Let me tell you, even if you realize it now, it’s too late,” said the person who was speaking.

“Focus on your work. Stop meddling in other people’s affairs. It makes you look guilty, full of deceit and trickery,” they added.

Qian Mo glared fiercely at the speaker, eyes filled with anger. “Shut up! This is our family’s matter; what does it have to do with you? Stop meddling in our affairs.”

“We’re leaving. Since they’ve made it clear not to meddle, there’s no need to say more. Let them do whatever they want,” Qian Mo continued.

Qian Mo, seeing that the onlookers had dispersed, once again directed her gaze towards Su Yu: “Master, I know I was wrong. Please forgive me this once. I won’t dare to do it again.”

Wang Jinhe, observing her, couldn’t help but feel uneasy. What was going on in this person’s mind?

“Liang, go bring the person in charge from their family. I don’t want to talk to these two idiots anymore.” Continuing the conversation with these people made Wang Jinhe feel like his intelligence was being directly trampled on.

“Got it.”

Soon, a middle-aged man arrived with a teenager around fourteen or fifteen. Seeing Qian Mo staring at Su Yu, the middle-aged man’s face turned red, and he walked over, raising his hand for a slap.

“Qian Mo, you shameless thing, you’re capable of doing anything. I shouldn’t have let you be born in the first place,” Qian Wei said through gritted teeth.

Covering her face, Qian Mo stared at Qian Wei and retorted, “If it weren’t for your incompetence, do you think I’d willingly endure such hardships with you? Is it wrong for me to want to escape this kind of life?”

Qian Mo no longer wanted to endure such grievances. She simply wanted to live a good life, rise above her current status, and nothing and no one would stand in her way.

Seeing Qian Mo in this state, Qian Wei sighed heavily, “You…”

Liang, the supervisor, felt a bit sympathetic towards Qian Wei and his son. Both had been diligent workers, never slacking off. It was unimaginable that one day they would be implicated by their own Mother and Daughter.

“Supervisor Liang, I understand that Qian Wei is a diligent worker, but I can’t trust his wife and daughter, especially when one of them has set her sights on my husband. If I were to keep such a person around and she decides to seek revenge in the future, who will take responsibility for that?” Wang Jinhe looked at Supervisor Liang and asked.

She was willing to give Supervisor Liang face, but not everyone deserved such consideration. After all, some people simply weren’t worthy of it.

Supervisor Liang fell silent. Wang Jinhe’s concerns were valid—what if Qian Mo sought revenge in the future and targeted the village? He could only glance apologetically at Qian Wei and his father.

Qian Mo couldn’t stand being belittled like this. She stared at Wang Jinhe and gritted her teeth, “You’re just worried that I’ll replace you, which is why you’re being so obstinate, aren’t you?”
