Extra Chapter 1

Time flew by, and Yu Xuanwei and Wu Qingluan’s triplets had grown from chubby and cute little bundles into vibrant teenagers, each standing at the crossroads of life.

By human standards, they were just fifteen or sixteen-year-old high school students, but according to fox clan customs, they were already adults, ready for their journeys of self-discovery.

The eldest, Yu Lang, had always been composed and dignified. He bore the closest resemblance to Yu Wei in appearance but lacked some of his father’s arrogance, replacing it with more integrity. He possessed formidable divine power, a wide social circle, and friends in the realms of humans, spirits, and demons. Furthermore, he had a compassionate heart, making him a child to be proud of and entrusted with.

The second child, Yu Jin, inherited the best traits of Yu Xuanwei  and Wu Qingluan in terms of  appearance, with a face that could captivate anyone with a single glance. During his childhood, he seemed docile and unassuming, but as he grew older, Wu Qingluan realized he had the most cunning mind. Yu Jin was the one who resembled Yuguan Wei Yu Xuanwei the most in his core. He often wore a  benevolent expression on his face but was always plotting something in his mind. Compared to the eldest, who was obsessed with raising eggs, and the youngest, who threw tantrums and acted spoiled all day, Wu Qingluan was more concerned about the second child. She always felt that he might turn dark in the blink of an eye and end up smiling while destroying the world.

The youngest, Yu Jue, well… mischievous, lazy, thin-skinned, and tsundere—that was him. On the other hand, he was also lively, cute, sunny, and had a caring heart with a strong sense of camaraderie. As his biological mother and the one who resembled her the most, Wu Qingluan did pay more attention to him, but compared to his two older brothers, he was somewhat lacking.

He seemed to have little interest in anything other than eating and playing, making him the epitome of a modern human teenager during puberty. When Yu Xuanwei urged him to practice cultivation, he always expressed a preference for lying down and enjoying life, spouting all sorts of twisted and erroneous arguments like “the path to enlightenment is never-ending, so why not enjoy the moment.”

So, on the day of their departure for their respective journeys, when faced with the gates to different worlds opened by Yu Xuanwei, the eldest and the second son quickly made their choices. After bidding farewell to their parents, they set off. But as for the youngest…

The youngest clung to Wu Qingluan and refused to let go, crying out, “Mom, I don’t want to leave you. I don’t want to go on this journey!”

The youngest was already half a head taller than Wu Qingluan, and being held in his arms while acting spoiled was starting to feel inappropriate, even to his own mother.

Wu Qingluan sighed and said, “What’s gotten into you? Weren’t you always eager to explore the world when you were little? I even caught you sneaking out a few times. Isn’t this a great opportunity?”

Tears welled up in the youngest’s eyes as he said, “Mom, can you talk to Dad and ask for a little more time? My game is at a critical moment, and if I leave now, my classmates will hate me!”

Wu Qingluan looked at  Yu Xuanwei, signaling for him to be the bad guy in this situation.

As soon as the youngest saw Yu Xuanwei  approaching, he immediately let go of Wu Qingluan and stood up straight. He pitifully adjusted the backpack on his shoulder and said, “Okay, fine, let’s go.”

Yu Xuanwei   scolded him, “Then why the dilly-dallying?”

The youngest son hugged Wu Qingluan again and sniffled, “Mom, I’ll miss you.” Then, he respectfully bowed to Yu Xuanwei and said, “Farewell, Daddy.”

Wu Qingluan’s heart was in knots. This child was truly worrisome, but she understood that she had to let go. “Go on, remember to keep your mother informed.”

Yu Xuanwei gave the youngest son a sharp look. This kid’s eyes were darting around, clearly not planning to be obedient.

Standing beside the six gates, the eldest son had chosen the divine realm, the second son had chosen the ghost realm, and now only the human realm, the demon realm, the Asura realm, and the Narakaloka realm remained as options. So, reluctantly, the youngest son chose the gate leading to the demon realm and said, “I’m leaving.”

He said this while swiftly pushing open the door next to it, which represented the human realm.

The youngest son had a clever plan. Once he entered the human realm, he could confidently return home later and continue playing his games.

However, fathers were fathers, after all. Yu Xuanwei lifted his leg and skillfully kicked the youngest son towards the gate leading to the demon realm.

Unfortunately, like father, like son. The youngest son had already anticipated this. He quickly dodged to the side, and at that very moment, the six gates began rotating again. Surprisingly, the gate to the Narakaloka realm opened on its own.

Yu Xuanwei tried to reach out to retrieve him, but it was too late. The youngest son disappeared before he could even call out to him.

Wu Qingluan immediately realized that something was wrong. The Narakaloka realm must be exceptionally dangerous, or else Yuguan Wei wouldn’t have  not want to send him there.

Yu Xuanwei remained silent for a moment and then said, “It’s fate; nothing can be done.”

Narakaloka.

Once the youngest son entered the realm, he fell into boundless darkness. Fortunately, he had received special training before and knew that falling into the eerie and terrifying Narakaloka realm was no walk in the park. After a brief panic, he managed to regain his composure.

His entire body was out of control, floating and spinning in the darkness with his limbs outstretched like a starfish.

The youngest son wasn’t afraid of the dark, but he felt incredibly lonely. It was too quiet around him, as if he had become an astronaut abandoned in the vast universe.

“Achoo!” Suddenly, a chilling wind rushed in, causing the youngest son to let out a thunderous sneeze.

Someone was here!

The youngest son watched as a pitch-black entity floated towards him, becoming closer and closer…

It seemed like this newcomer was the embodiment of darkness itself, taking on the form of a cloaked figure.

The black-cloaked figure came to a halt in front of the youngest son, remaining silent and releasing an eerie aura.

The youngest son rubbed his arms and said, “The temperature here is already freezing; there’s no need to turn on the cold air conditioning, is there?”

A cold, chilling voice emanated from within the black cloak, “I am the messenger of Narakaloka, and you shall not be disrespectful.”

“I’m not being disrespectful; I’m just speaking the truth,” muttered the youngest son quietly. “I’m here for training, not imprisonment. Why be so harsh?”

The Narakaloka messenger was likely encountering such impertinence for the first time and adopted an even colder tone as they continued, “I will continuously subject you to seven days of rotation. If you can survive seven days, your training will end. Otherwise…”

The messenger of Narakaloka sneered, “You shall forever reincarnate here, becoming a part of this Narakaloka!”

The youngest son pondered for a moment and asked solemnly, “Are you truly the messenger of Narakaloka? Is this place really Narakaloka?”

The Narakaloka messenger’s voice, icy and laced with anger, responded, “What else could it be?”

“I feel like I’ve entered a terrifying endless game, and you’re the game system. I have to escape within the rules you’ve set in a specified time. Wow, I like this!” the youngest son exclaimed.

The Narakaloka messenger sneered. This young fox seemed to have no fear of the unknown. This was Narakaloka, a realm of damnation where very few who came here for training ever made it out alive. Most lost their true selves in the horrifying cycle of infinite reincarnation, forgetting who they were and where they came from. In the end, they were consumed by despair, anger, and fear, becoming a part of the endless darkness of Narakaloka.

The Narakaloka messenger raised their sleeve, and a massive blood-red roulette wheel appeared out of thin air. It was covered in countless grooves, each representing a different small world.

The youngest son, seeing this large roulette wheel, exclaimed, “This is even more like an endless game! Hey, you…”

The Narakaloka messenger didn’t want to hear any more of his nonsense and blew him into the roulette wheel with a gust of gloomy wind.

After sucking the youngest son into the roulette wheel, it spun wildly for a while, then gradually slowed down. Eventually, one of the grooves lit up, indicating that the youngest son had landed in it.

The Narakaloka messenger glanced at the lit groove and sneered, “Pest!”

Within the Narakaloka seven-day small world.

It was a scorching summer day, and the youngest son cautiously hid under a cluster of leaves, keeping a watchful eye on a bird not far away.

After entering the roulette wheel, the youngest son had transformed into a vibrant green praying mantis, complete with two mighty scythe-like claws. When there was nothing else to

do, he would swagger around, brandishing his claws.

Although he had become an insect, he was fortunate to retain his memories. Relying on his courage, keen instincts, and the biology knowledge he had acquired in school, he managed to survive for five days.

Now it was the sixth day, and the scorching noon sun beat down relentlessly. He was just about to search for some water to drink when a bird suddenly appeared nearby. He quickly hid under a large leaf.

He waited and waited, but the bird showed no signs of leaving. The youngest son was becoming desperately thirsty, and his throat felt like it was on fire.

“Stupid bird, watch how I twist your head when I get out of here!” The youngest son cursed silently.

Suddenly, a gust of wind blew and parted the leaves above the youngest son’s head.

The bird, with its small, dark eyes, locked onto the youngest son. It let out a joyful chirp and flapped its wings, flying toward him.

The youngest son, shocked more than scared, realized that he was completely frozen in place under the predator’s gaze. He couldn’t move a muscle.

As a member of the divine fox clan, the youngest son had only truly feared his father, Yu Xuanwei. He was usually carefree and cheerful, unlike his serious older brother or his more genuinely friendly nature. However, deep down, he was still proud. He believed that everything in the world was his plaything, and while he respected and admired others, he had never truly felt fear.

But now, he was so afraid that he couldn’t even summon the strength to run. He could only wait for death to come.

The youngest son regretted his decision. If he had known it would come to this, he would have chosen the path of the demon world, a legitimate and arduous path, where he might have suffered and toiled but at least had a chance to survive and return home.

Suddenly, a bright green figure flashed before the youngest son’s eyes, startling the predator bird. The youngest son finally regained his senses and used all his strength to flip over and land, avoiding the bird’s attack.

The emerald figure landed in front of the youngest son, revealing a much larger female mantis. She gestured to him, “Quick, hide.”

Seeing that the youngest son was slow to react, the female mantis used her long scythes to scoop him up onto her back. With a few agile leaps, they disappeared into the grass, hidden from sight.

Being carried away by a member of the opposite sex was embarrassing for the youngest son, but the situation left him powerless.

The female mantis, with the youngest son on her back, hid in the grass and waited patiently. When the predator bird finally left, she gently set the youngest son down. “You’re safe now.”

“Thank you, thank you so much,” the youngest son stammered, overwhelmed with gratitude.

The female mantis tapped her scythes together and spoke confidently, “Helping each other is what members of the same species should do. No need to be polite.”

The youngest son looked up with deep admiration at the female mantis who had bravely confronted their common predator. When he met her sparkling compound eyes, his heart was instantly captivated.

Is this what love feels like?

Overwhelmed with excitement, the youngest son lifted himself up and exclaimed, “What’s your name? I want to court you!”

He couldn’t resist the overwhelming feeling that he wanted to possess this beauty right away, and he was even willing to risk his life for her!

The female mantis chuckled and said, “You want to mate with me? Aren’t you in a hurry to meet your demise?”

*Splash!*

The female mantis’s words were like a bucket of cold water dumped on him, cooling his fervor. Indeed, he had forgotten that after mating, male mantises were often eaten by the females.

“My name is Lan Hua,” the female mantis said, noticing the hesitation in the youngest son. She was understanding and decided not to mention it further. Instead, she extended an invitation to him to join her group and offered him protection.

With every glance at Lan Hua, the youngest son’s impulse grew stronger. Was this what being in heat felt like? It was irrational yet incredibly intense.

“Thank you, Lan Hua,” he said with fiery eyes that never left her. “I’m willing to join and do anything for you.”

And so, the youngest son joined Lan Hua’s group.

It was a strong and united community, with Lan Hua being the most powerful mantis within. However, that night, as he watched Lan Hua mate with and devour multiple male mantises, the youngest son couldn’t stay calm any longer. He was consumed by jealousy!

On the seventh day, in the early morning, as the youngest, Yu Jue, filled with longing, approached, gazing at him with a dazed look, Lan Hua smiled, “Have you made your decision?”

“Yes!” Yu Jue’s breathing quickened, stimulated by the irresistible scent emanating from Lan Hua, “I want to mate with you!”

Lan Hua nodded, “Come then.”

Just as the youngest son jumped onto Lan Hua, she swiftly bit off his head.

The youngest son died silently, and Lan Hua smiled, saying, “You’ve come a bit late; I’m already pregnant. I’ll consume you as nourishment for the children.”
