Chen Luo looked at the group of people opposite him, feeling a sense of vigilance. He had encountered similar situations many times during the apocalypse; sometimes, humans could be scarier than zombies.
“Do you think I won’t kill anyone?” Chen Luo retorted. “If there were hundreds of you, I might have to give it some serious thought.”
He scoffed disdainfully.
At that moment, a voice came from within Chen Luo’s camp.
“In all things, harmony is of the utmost importance. Give them something and let them leave,” the voice said.
Chen Luo’s expression changed, and Shu Yun, Chen Guang, and the others also looked surprised.
Chen Luo turned around and found that it was Zhang Jingjing standing in the front, who had spoken those words.
The difference in numbers between the two sides wasn’t significant, and the opposing group seemed ready to fight to the end. Standing at the forefront, Zhang Jingjing was extremely frightened in her heart.
If a real fight broke out, she could very well end up getting killed. In her opinion, if they could resolve this peacefully by offering food, why engage in a life-and-death battle?
She believed her thinking was right, so she spoke up in a soft voice.
Sun Dawei burst into laughter, “This little beauty is absolutely right. We don’t need much. Just give us two thousand kilograms of rice, or if there’s not enough rice, flour will do. Some water and a few other types of food will be enough, really not much.”
The people behind Sun Dawei also echoed his sentiments.
“The young girl has a kind heart.”
“We really have no other choice. We’ll repay you once we have the means.”
Chen Luo stared at Zhang Jingjing, and she couldn’t help but feel scared under his intense gaze.
Chen Luo slapped Zhang Jingjing’s face with his backhand and coldly said, “Who do you think you are? Do you have any say here?”
It’s fine for the little brothers to interject when the boss is talking, but you’re actually speaking up for the other side.
The others all remained quiet, patiently waiting for Chen Luo’s command. Did she really think she had some special status?
Zhang Jingjing’s half of the face swelled up, and she fell to the ground, crying out in pain.
Her father couldn’t bear it any longer and rushed over, reprimanding, “Is there anything wrong with what my daughter said? With so many people on the other side, how can a fight end well?”
“You have resources filling up several villas. Is it not a good idea to share them to avoid casualties for everyone?”
“For the sake of a few supplies, you are making your subordinates risk their lives. What kind of heart do you have?”
Mi Li tried to help Zhang Jingjing up, but Zhang Jingjing pushed her away.
Sobbing, Zhang Jingjing said, “Don’t act so hypocritical. During lunch, you and Chen Luo secretly enjoyed delicious food without inviting anyone else, let alone me. I considered you a friend all this time.”
“I stood at the front, and you stood at the back, probably laughing at me in your heart.”
Mi Li felt upset, and thought ‘but the resources aren’t mine to decide, and I don’t have the authority to make decisions. Besides, you just arrived here’.
Mi Li shook her head, sighed inwardly, and thought, with Chen Luo’s personality, you might be in trouble.
Chen Luo’s expression became somewhat unpleasant. “I saved you, and you consumed my food and drink, yet you still speak words that disrupt the unity of the group. How did you manage to survive until now?”
He found Zhang Jingjing’s naivety and immaturity pitiable, especially for this Zhang Dongcheng; at his age, he was simply wasting his life.
If using food could completely send these people away, would Chen Luo hesitate to use his 80,000 tons of rice?
He was a bit angry at the beginning, but then he let it go. After all, he had encountered all sorts of people in his previous life.
Chen Luo shook his head. Some people could be saved, while others shouldn’t be saved.
Temporarily ignoring Zhang Dongcheng and his daughter, Chen Luo turned around and chuckled, “You all had a good laugh.”
Sun Dawei smirked, “I’ve heard there’s enough resources in several villas. I just want one villa’s worth, isn’t that reasonable?”
Chen Luo chuckled lightly and smiled at the dozen or so people from the other convoy. “So, you’re also here for supplies, right?”
The young man leading the group noticed Chen Luo’s calm and composed demeanor and felt an unusual sensation. He quickly waved his hands with an apologetic smile, saying, “Big brother, we just came to see if there’s any place we can settle down. We do have some supplies, and we absolutely didn’t mean to threaten you. Since the villas are full, we’ll leave now.”
After speaking, the young man and his group actually left.
Sun Dawei watched them depart and cursed under his breath, calling them cowards.
Impatiently, Sun Dawei asked, “Are you going to give it or not?”
Chen Luo remained unfazed, already forming an enhanced version of the spatial sphere in his hand.
He smiled and said, “Sure, I’ll give it to you right away.”
In the early stages, spatial abilities, under the same level, might not have the same high damage as fire or lightning abilities. However, spatial power was invisible and colorless, unlike fireballs or lightning, which had obvious colors.
It was indeed a sneak attack, a lethal weapon for home defense.
“A Level 2 ability user, so powerful! I’m really scared now. Let me give you something nice first.”
When Sun Dawei and his group first arrived, they were boasting about Sun Dawei being a Level 2 ability user.
With a “bang,” Chen Luo’s enhanced spatial sphere directly caused Sun Dawei’s head to explode.
Sun Dawei only saw Chen Luo making a gesture, and in less than a second, he was killed in what he perceived as a sneak attack.
Several screams followed.
Sun Dawei died without closing his eyes. None of his people expected Chen Luo to suddenly launch an attack and kill Sun Dawei on the spot.
He was their most powerful member, but he was instantly killed.
Sun Dawei’s prowess was something they had experienced before. When they saw Chen Luo taking action, Mi Li didn’t have time to attend to Zhang Jingjing. Instead, she applied a defense-boosting BUFF to the group of physical ability user abilities standing in the front.
Chen Luo waved his hand and said, “If they don’t want to live, then let’s grant their wish.”
Su Dazhu took the lead, being a Level 3 ability user with Mi Li’s enhancement, he had no fear of these Level 1 ability users’ abilities.
Mi Ling followed closely behind Su Dazhu.
The ones standing at the forefront on Chen Luo’s side were all Level 2 ability users. To be honest, they were a little afraid as well.
But Chen Luo had made it clear that anyone who retreated during battle would face severe consequences.
Chen Luo didn’t hesitate to kill, and no one dared to step back.
Moreover, victory in the battle was certain to be theirs.
Everyone charged forward.
In just one exchange, seven or eight people from the opposing side were already dead.
A few of the remaining people mustered the courage to attack Su Dazhu, but they only managed to inflict minor injuries on him. However, Su Dazhu seemed unfazed and even more ferocious as he continued to strike with his steel rod.
In a brief moment, Sun Dawei’s group fell into chaos. They lacked a backbone and had no strict command structure. When faced with a life-or-death situation, they all scattered and ran. If they didn’t run, they would die.
Chen Luo sneered at the sight, thinking they really believed they were fearless.
Haven’t eaten for a day? In Mi Ling’s words, did they eat just one day ago?
After two or three years in the apocalypse, survivors were often starving, and for food, they were truly willing to risk their lives. If they didn’t fight fiercely, they would starve to death.
But these people had only been hungry for one day, and they were far from having the determination to fight to the death. Their aggressive stance was purely for show and intimidation.
There was once a person who fought Chen Luo, the Void Monarch, over a single ham sausage. That person truly dared to risk their life.
Apart from Su Dazhu suffering minor injuries, the others were completely unharmed.
Zhang Jingjing and Zhang Dongcheng were dumbfounded. They had thought it would be a bloody battle, but they never expected it to be so effortless. No wonder Chen Luo didn’t back down at all.
If Chen Luo hadn’t stepped forward and taken action, the situation might have played out differently.
